Preservation of the Joint Court of Justice & Lady Justice in Aruba

Posted in: Amigoe,Aruba,Judicial,Natalee Holloway

Some stories just write themselves. The future of Lady Justice being discussed in Aruba. ThatAmigoeJustice is to presume that it has a present. One would also presume they could begin with “Justice for Natalee”.

ARUBA – A majority of the representatives of politics and the Bar that were present at the symposium ‘The development of the current magistrature within the Caribbean part of the Royal Dutch Kingdom’ appeared to be advocates of the preservation of the Joint Court of Justice.

Then there is Justice Minister Rudy Croes’ opinion.

Also the future of the Court is under dispute with the disintegration of the Neth.Antilles.  On behalf of the government, Justice-minister Rudy Croes (MEP) had indicated earlier being an advocate of an own Court in Aruba.  However, De Lannoy’s point of view for the preservation of the Joint Court received most approbation.

Then of course Prime Minister Nelson Oduber weighs in on the matter.

Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (MEP), who was also present, is of the opinion that a split up of the judicial system must be avoided.  “In a conversation with the High Court some time ago it already appeared that the High Court as organization can no longer do cassations when the judicial system is split up.” (Amigoe)
