Our Uninformed Congress … NY Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez Had No Clue What ‘Fast & Furious’ Scandal Was When Asked by Reporter

So you mean you have never heard of “Fast & Furious”?

File this one under, if a tree falls in the woods and no body is there to see it, does it make a sound. Alternate file, how clueless, ignorant and uninformed could Democrat politicians possibly be?

New York Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez was interviewed by the Daily Caller regarding her thoughts on the Obama/Holder “Fast & Furious” scandal and whether Ag Eric Holder should step down. An interesting thing then occurred, Nydia Velazquez had no idea what ‘Fast & Furious” was. How incredible is that?

New York Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez admitted she did not know what Operation Fast and Furious was at a Congressional Hispanic Caucus event on Tuesday.

When The Daily Caller asked Velazquez if she thinks Fast and Furious was a scandal that rises to the level of a call for Attorney General Eric Holder’s resignation, she shrugged at first. Then, TheDC asked if she even knew what Fast and Furious was.

“No, no,” Velazquez replied.

Ultimately, Velazquez said she doesn’t support calling for Holder’s resignation because it’s only Republicans who are demanding he step down.

One has to wonder how a representative of the People has no idea what ‘Fast & Furious’ is. That is almost beyond comprehension. However, you know what liberal Democrats were probably aware of … as stated at the Lonely Conservative, how the ATF was going to use ‘Fast & Furious’ as a way to promote new gun regulations and restrictions. Nothing like the federal government promoting illegal gun sales to Mexican drug lords, increase violence and then say that guns need to be regulated because their is an increase in violence when it was the illegal operation that caused it. Yup, no scandal here. Sure there isn’t. If we had a real media in this country, this story would lead broadcasts every night. Or if a Republican was President.

On Jan. 4, 2011, as ATF prepared a press conference to announce arrests in Fast and Furious, Newell saw it as “(A)nother time to address Multiple Sale on Long Guns issue.” And a day after the press conference, Chait emailed Newell: “Bill–well done yesterday… (I)n light of our request for Demand letter 3, this case could be a strong supporting factor if we can determine how many multiple sales of long guns occurred during the course of this case.”

This revelation angers gun rights advocates. Larry Keane, a spokesman for National Shooting Sports Foundation, a gun industry trade group, calls the discussion of Fast and Furious to argue for Demand Letter 3 “disappointing and ironic.” Keane says it’s “deeply troubling” if sales made by gun dealers “voluntarily cooperating with ATF’s flawed ‘Operation Fast & Furious’ were going to be used by some individuals within ATF to justify imposing a multiple sales reporting requirement for rifles.”
