YOU TRICKED ME … aka … I only agreed to a softball interview, you mean this wasn’t CNN?

Chris Wallace innocently triggered a hailstorm of upset from our former President. Clinton’s ‘Legacy’ definitely has a few holes in it (no pun intended) that are subject to the scrutiny of honest analysis. As in the case of Aruba, anything less than the truth will remain painful.

It all started out with a valid question regarding one administrations policies on getting Osama Bin Ladin and turned into the fire-storm that exists today. Some how such question about the most important question of our time, terrorism, becomes a “gotcha” interview. I think thou dost protest too much.

A Time line of events:

First Chris Wallace asks the now famous trick question heard around the world.

Some commentary from the Left and the Right:

White House Press Secretary Tony Snow makes a rather valid argument that  I presume ex-President Clinton will deny. Let’s just remember what was inherited and what the situation really was in 2000. Military and intelligence budgets had been slashed and a “.com” economic bubble had just burst. Do we really want to go back and relive the disarray that was dealing with the post-Clinton administration and its aftermath? Does anyone really not think that all the plans and preparations into 9–11 did not occur in the years leading up to it? Why did Bin Laden think he could pull it off? Maybe because there was no reaction to the initial World Trade Center bombing.

White House press secretary Tony Snow told reporters that Clinton spent his presidency “dramatically” slashing military and intelligence assets that are vital to fighting global terrorism.

“Even with the buildup since September 11th, we are only now beginning to achieve the same sort of levels that we had — in terms of intelligence assets — that we had at the beginning of the Clinton administration,” Snow said. (Examiner)

One thing is for certain. Clinton making the discussion be about terrorism is not helping the Democratic party some 40 days out of an election. Democrats will never win the debate n terrorism.
