Ten years after 6 year old JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered in her parents John Mark Karr 1basement in Colorado, John Mark Karr admits to killing her. JonBenet Ramsey  was found beaten and strangled in the basement of the family’s home in Boulder, CO  on December 26, 1996.

The American suspect in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case said publicly Thursday he was with the 6-year-old when she died and called her death “an accident,” a stunning admission that will help answer 10 years of questions in the unsolved murder case.

“I was with JonBenet when she died,” John Mark Karr told reporters in Bangkok, visibly nervous and stuttering as he spoke. “Her death was an accident.”

Although John Mark Karr states that the death of JonBenet was an accident, US authorities informed the Thailand police that  an arrest warrant has been issued for John Mark Karr for first degree, premeditated  murder.

At the press conference, Suwat said Karr insisted after his arrest that his crime was not first-degree murder. “He said it was second- degree murder. He said it was unintentional. He said he was in love with the child. She was a pageant queen,” Suwat said.

The Thai officer quoted the suspect as saying he tried to kidnap JonBenet for a $118,000 ransom but that his plan went awry and he strangled her to death. Patsy Ramsey, JonBenet’s mother, reported finding a ransom note in the house demanding $118,000 for her daughter.

According to The Rocky Mountain News, John Mark Karr brought attention to himself with a 4 year sxchange of emails with University of Colorado jorunalism professor Michael Tracey. Tracey had done a documentary on the JonBenet case professing the parents involvment in the case.

Karr drew attention to himself with a four-year exchange of e-mail with University of Colorado journalism professor Michael Tracey.

The ongoing exchange was initiated by Karr after he watched a documentary that Tracey – long a vocal proponent of the Ramseys’ innocence – produced on JonBenet’s death.

Tracey passed on information he developed to former Boulder D.A.’s investigator Lou Smit and El Paso County private investigator Ollie Gray, who in turn pressed Lacy to pursue Karr.

Accused JonBenet killer says death accident

John Mark Karr stated that JonBenet Ramsey’s death was an accident and that he loved the girl. Of course that hardly explains a ransom letter. John Mark Karr, 41, arrested in Thailand on Wednesday  will be charged in the US with murder, kidnapping and sexual abuse of JonBenet Ramsey.

BANGKOK (Reuters) – An American primary school teacher accused of the grisly Christmas 1996 murder of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey said on Thursday he loved the child beauty queen and her death was an accident.

“I loved JonBenet,” Karr told reporters Bangkok in his first public comment since his arrest. “She died accidentally.” When asked if he had killed the girl, he appeared to shake his head.

John Mark Karr had  arrived in Bangkok, Thailand  on June 6, 2006  from Malaysia to look for a teaching job according to reports. It was reported and not yet confirmed that John Mark Karr had previously taught in California “until he was stripped of his teaching credentials following an arrest on child pornography charges”. The obsession of John Mark Karr gets even stranger as Karr’s ex-wife states that he spent a lot of time reading up on the JonBenet Ramsey and Polly Klaas case.

It was widely reported, but not confirmed by authorities, that Karr taught in California until he was stripped of his teaching credentials following an arrest on child pornography charges.

Sonoma County Chief Deputy District Attorney Joan Risse confirmed the child pornography charges and arrest warrant against a John Mark Karr, though she cautioned that she didn’t know if he was the same person held in the Ramsey case. State records show Karr lost his teaching credential in 2002.

A woman who said she was the ex-wife of former Petaluma teacher John Karr told KGO-TV in San Francisco that they got divorced after his arrest. The woman, who the station identified as Laura Karr, said her ex-husband spent a lot of time reading up on the cases of Ramsey and Petaluma resident Polly Klaas, who was abducted and slain in 1993.

Kin: Suspect obsessed by child slayings

The family of John Mark Karr seem to think that he was not involved with the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. One thing is for certain, the DNA found at the scene will prove one way or the other whether it was a match to John Mark Karr.

The man busted for the notorious murder of little beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was a would-be author obsessed with killers who commit horrible crimes against children, his brother said last night.

John Mark Karr, 42, was described as a smart and wonderful family man who taught school and in his spare time was researching a book on heinous crimes involving kids.

“His researching the Ramsey case so thoroughly and having such interest in it, maybe that is the only possible way he could have been brought into this,” Nate Karr told Fox News’ “On the Record With Greta Van Susteren.”
