Only 37% Job Approval in Florida and Think President Barack Obama Deserves Reelection in 2012

In the 2008 Presidential election, Barack Obama won Florida 51% to 48% and picked up an important  27 electoral votes. That was then, this is now. If early polling in Florida is any sign of things to come for 2012, Obama and the Democrat party are in serious trouble in this swing state.

Yes, it is early in the polling season and things could change; however, President Barack Obama finds himself in a deep hole in the battle ground state of Florida.   A recent MAGELLAN poll has only 37% believe that Barack Obama should be reelected, while a whopping 57% believe he should not be. The poll also has Floridians at 37% job approval for Obama, while 57% disapprove. How does one come back from a 37% reelection number?  Its early, but this polling is so dismal, one has to take notice especially when the polling sample was 42/39/19, Democrats/Republicans/Independents.

Do you think that Barack Obama deserves to be re?elected, or do you think that
Barack Obama does not deserve to be re?elected?
Deserves to be re?elected ……………………………………………… 37%
Does not deserve to be re?elected ……………………………….. 57%
Undecided/No opinion …………………………………………………….. 6%

The economy is obviously weighing heavily on Florida voters as an amazing 72% believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction, while a meager 20% think its on the right track.  This is so bad one has to wonder how Obama is going to a drag on the rest of the crucial votes in FLA.

Overall, do you think that things in the country are headed in the right direction,
or do you think that things are off on the wrong track?
Right Direction ………………………………………………………………… 20%
Wrong Track …………………………………………………………………….. 72%
No Opinion ………………………………………………………………………….. 8%

Obama also polled terribly against the GOP challengers as discussed by Hot Air. Good grief, Obama does not get even into the 40′s.

Obama loses all three head-to-head matchups posed by Magellan.  Mitt Romney beats Obama by ten points, 49/39, and Rick Perry beats him by 7 at 46/39. Obama only gets into the 40s against Michele Bachmann, who still edges him by a single point, 43/42.

Not only was Obama’s polling numbers terrible, so was incumbent US Senator Ben Nelson who could be in trouble as well in 2012. How much of a drag could Obama be on Nelson in 2012 in Democrats attempts to hang on to power in the Senate? Look for Senator Marco Rubio (FL-R) to be doing some heavy campaigning for the GOP challenger in the Sunshine state.

As the PJ Tatler opines, why should Obama or Democrats be surprised at these polling numbers seeing that Obama killed NASA and has the once proud rocket scientists nothing more than making up fiction of doing cool stuff. YIKES.  Add in a terrible economy and a state that has been trending “red”, looks like Obama is going to lose another key battle ground state. How does Obama win reelection without Florida?
