Son of The Big Dig

Posted in: Main

From the category of what else could possibly go wrong with the “BIG DIG” comes some even more unforeseen problems. With all the many issues within the I-93 Tunnels know we have “a 2Â ½-mile trail of cracked walls, shifting foundations, and flooded basements through the heart of the city, from North Station to the South End, property owners there say.”

The Big Dig has been such a colossal mess that it is probably impossible at this point not to wonder if the project is or is not responsible for affecting other’s private property.

Big Dig officials said that legitimate claims will be paid but that the project and its insurers, AIG, have an obligation to protect taxpayers from frivolous claims.

”If property owners observe what they think is damage, if it’s the result of the artery tunnel project, or if there’s a reasonable chance it’s the result, we’ll work with the property owner,” said project director Michael Lewis.

What else can the Big Dig mess up?
