American’s Tiger Woods and Floyd Landis claim Victory Across the Pond

Posted in: Sports,World

Tiger Woods showed the golfing world in an emotional 2 shot victory at the British Tiger Woods Brit OpenOpen just why he is the greatest golfer. Wood’s methodical victory at on the links of Royal Liverpool made it appear as if he was more like 10 shots ahead. Tiger’s determination to win was never more present when upon capturing victory he broke down in in tears on the shoulder of his caddy Steve Williams.

This was his first victory since his father, Earl Woods, died May 3 after a brutal bout with cancer. Some questioned whether Woods could regain his focus, especially after he was sent packing after two rounds at Winged Foot in the U.S. Open.

His face was contorted in raw emotion as he walked off the green and sobbed again while hugging his wife, Elin, and his trainer, Keith Klevin. “I could not stop it,” Woods said. “I miss my dad so much.”

This one was for Tiger Wood’s dad, as Tiger’s tears flowed for his recently deceased dad. All to often sports casters try to interject false emotion into sporting events. This emotional win by Tiger was the real deal, it was hard not to get choked up watching.

Also, Floyd Landis continued America’s dominance in The Tour-de-France as he Floyd landisrode to victory down the on the cobblestones of the Champs-Elysà ©es. Following Lance Armstrong’s seven consecutive victories, Landis came from no where in the last couple stages of the tour including one of the most remarkable time trials ever. Landis won the race with a lead of 57 seconds on Spaniard Oscar Pereiro of Caisse d’Epargne to bring victory back to the USA. Let’s just hope the French don’t start with drug accusations of Landis as they did with Armstrong as American’s dominated what is mainly considered a European sport.

Landis picked up where another American left off last year, when Lance Armstrong completed his seventh and final Tour triumph. With the victory, Landis becomes the third American — joining Armstrong and three-time winner Greg LeMond — to win the Tour.

“I’m proud and happy for Floyd,” said Armstrong, who watched the finish on TV from a luxurious hotel room near the Champs-Elysà ©es. “He proved he was the strongest, everybody wrote him off.”

“I’m very proud that an American has won again,” he added.

A tremendous job well done by Tiger Woods and Floyd Landis overcoming emotional and physical pain and proving what that human spirit is capable of.
