ARUBA – The Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS published a demographic bulletin on the first quarter of 2006 stating that in the first quarter of this year, Aruba had 102.695 inhabitants compared to 97.011 and 99.746 in the same period of 2004 and 2005 respectively.  Considering the above, the population of Aruba is growing.  In all these years, the women were in a bare majority. 


Aruba has 6440 inhabitants in the age of 0 to 4; 81 inhabitants are older than 95; between 6000 and 9000 are 54 and younger; 9901 are between 40 and 44; 1500 are between 55 and 79; 807 are between 80 and 84; 400 are between 85 and 89; almost 200 are between 90 and 95.  Comparing the above with the first quarters of 2004 and 2005, the number of people in all age categories has remained reasonably stable.  Only the category 95 and older has increased with one-third since 2004. 

124 People died in the first quarter of 2006: 2 infants and 65 male, 35 between 70 and 79, 30 between 80 and 89; the other 57 were all female.

The number of people that died in 2004 and 2005 remained stable: 133 and 116 in the first quarter of 2004 and 2005 respectively.  Respectively 502 and 482 people died in the entire year of 2004 and 2005, of which more men than women.   

620 Immigrants registered in the Registry of Aruba in the first quarter of 2006 versus 709 and 906 in same period 2005 and 2004 respectively.  The number of immigrants has dropped since 2004.  Of the 620 immigrants this year, 219 were born in Aruba or the Neth.Antilles.  The number of people born in the Netherlands that established in Aruba is relatively small, but had grown since 2004.  Less people emigrated to another country since 2004, 246 versus 234 in 2006.  In all these three years, especially people born in the Neth.Antilles and Aruba are the ones that left Aruba.   

Aruba had 164 marriages in the first quarter of 2006, of which 85 non-residents and 72 residents, and 120 divorce cases.  In 2004 and 2005, respectively 1184 and 1091 marriages were contracted in Aruba and 487 and 445 dissolved.
