GWB Not Attending Obama’s Photo-Op: Just Curious, Realeasing Photo’s of Bin Laden is Spiking the Football … but a Victory Lap at Ground Zero Isn’t?

Just curious Mr. President … Why have you never attended Ground Zero in NYC as President until today?

Former President George W. Bush wont be attending Barack Obama’s PR victory lap at Ground Zero in NYC today in part because he feels his team is getting short shrift in the decade-long manhunt for Osama Bin Laden.Ya think? There was no mention from Barack Obama or no credit given whatsoever to the intelligence infrastructure the Bush administration set up. This paved the way to gain intel and information that ultimately captured and killed Osama Bin laden.

“[Bush] viewed this as an Obama victory lap,” a highly-placed source told the Daily News Wednesday.

Bush’s visit to the rubble after the 9/11 attacks was the emotional high point of his presidency, but associates say the invitation to return with his successor was a non-starter.

“He doesn’t feel personally snubbed and appreciates the invitation, but Obama’s claiming all the credit and a lot of other people deserve some of it,” the source added.

“Obama gave no credit whatsoever to the intelligence infrastructure the Bush administration set up that is being hailed from the left and right as setting in motion the operation that got Bin Laden. It rubbed Bush the wrong way.”

As stated at Protein Wisdom, how does one justify not releasing pictures of a dead Osama Bin Laden as it would be seen as celebrating and spiking the football, yet Barack Obama sees fit to rush off to NYC and Ground Zero for a victory PR lap. Doing so in such a rush to make sure that the news cycle does not change to some other story before he lays a wreath at Ground Zero.

NRO reminds us of  Patrick Sullivan, he was one of the 2,606 people who were killed at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. This family, Greg nor his brother Jerry nor their parents, Paddy and Mary, will be in attendance when President Obama visits Ground Zero today. “We weren’t invited.”

How does Barack Obama invite Bush to ground Zero, while at the same time condemning the manner in how the GWB White House gathered intel. Obama has called the CIA acts under Bush torture and has yet to say that it was that very extreme interrogation of “waterboarding” that paved the way to the ultimate capture of Osama Bin Laden. How could any one not blame GWB for not attending. After all, he is already slated to attend the 10 year anniversary of 9-11.

Sorry, but the cynical side of me says that this has more to do with Obama’s look at me and my bounce in the poll numbers by taking credit for what others before him paved the way.
