The Donald vs. The One? … Donald Trump Surging in Polls and in Second Place in NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll

Posted in: 2012 Elections,Barack Obama,Obamanation,Obamanomics,Polls,Presidential Contenders

Is this a sign of the times or does it show just how irrelevant early polling data is? Will Donald Trump be telling Barack Obama … YOU’RE FIRED” in 2012?

According to a recent NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, Donald Trump has surprisingly jumped into second place among Republican primary voters for who will challenge Barack Obama in 2012.

Hat Tip: Party Crashers

Among Republican primary voters, Mr. Romney captured the support of 21% in a broad, nine-candidate field.Mr. Trump was tied for second with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, with 17%. House Speaker Newt Gingrich got 11%, just ahead of former Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s 10%. Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, considered a strong contender by political handicappers, remains largely unknown, with just 6% support. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota had 5%, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum 3%, and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour with just 1%.

So is the suddenly fascination with Trump a product of his celebrity and name recognition or is it because of his recent tough talk regarding Obama and his lack of leadership, China or OPEC. Is this a publicity stunt by Donald Trump, or will he present a serious run for the presidency? One cannot say that he is not qualified, after all Obama was previously elected.

One thing is for certain, Trump understands marketing and TV. As stated by Taylor Marsh, the Donald speaks from a unique “outside the beltway” perspective and has tapped into America’s fury when it comes to many hot button topics. Trump is the “UN-OBAMA”.  Trump is not beholden to anyone and rips into Obama and his lack of experience and decision making capability as if he is in his own boardroom tearing apart and “apprentice”.

So how much of the sudden surge for Trump is a sign of the time of an “anybody but Mitt Romney” vote? Probably a lot from GOP primary voters who do not want Republican-light as their candidate. The fact of the matter is … Republicans and Independents alike are waiting for the “perfect storm” candidate that will embrace the conservative agenda and get this country back on track.

Like Trump or not, one thing that he brings to the table is an “I don’t care” approach to calling Obama on the carpet. Trump is unafraid of MSM backlash and will point on Obama’s fault’s and lack of leadership skills. In all reality, Trump would most likely boot Obama from “Celebrity Apprentice” in the first round. All of America is waiting for the phrase in 2012 … Barack Obama, YOU’RE FIRED!!!
