GMA Part II: Revenge of the Sloots

Posted in: Aruba,Beth Holloway,boycott,Dave Holloway,Joran Van der Sloot,Natalee Holloway,Paul Van der Sloot

This morning GMA brought us the second part of the two part interview with the parents of Joran Van der Sloot, otherwise known as “must not see TV”. The Van der Sloot whine fest aside, one really must wonder what Arubans and Aruban officials are thinking this morning.

For the better part of two weeks there has been an all quiet on the Aruba Front. One could only speculate that Aruba and their spokespeople after Steve Cohen’s comments and retractions of the Dr. Phil Show just wanted to keep a low profile. Aruba just wanting this to go away and their lives to get back to normal by avoiding the topic.

NOT SO FAST. Aruba, just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water … Guess what … It’s back.

No, you do not have Beth Twitty to blame for this or Dave Holloway or Greta Van Susteren or Scared Monkeys.
YOU HAVE PAULUS AND ANITA VAN DER SLOOT TO BLAME.

Why Aruba, Arubans and Aruban officials continue to sacrifice themselves for this family is a mystery. It was plain to see in the GMA interviews or infomercials that they only care about keeping this story and themselves in the spot light. Why would they continue to do this? What is their motive for stoking the fires of the MSM? For people who want to get on with their lives they certainly have an odd way of doing it. Maybe its because they have an agenda? That agenda seems to be in direct contrast with that of Arubans and the Aruban government. Do the good people of Aruba really think a boycott will end when the Van der Sloot’s continue to insult American’s intelligence and pour salt in the wounds of a family with a missing daughter?

Aruba, take a good look at what you are defending. Answer the question why the parents of Joran Van der Sloot would speak out now. Why are they keeping the story going? Why are they calling out the MSM when everyone knows that the MSM will respond. It is not about you Aruba, it most certainly is about them.

I think we also need to comment on the Good Morning America’s reporting. This was not an interview, it was propaganda. Is GMA that confused that they do not even know the facts of the Natalee Holloway disappearance? The interview bordered on clueless. The idea that the following statement made it past the editing room floor is a mystery. Maybe GMA should read back through Scared Monkeys and find out the facts and the time line of events before they have an interview go to video.

The van der Sloots are now speaking out, saying their son has been unfairly singled out.

“They point fingers at him from the beginning. They called this a murder case from the beginning. They only had that tunnel vision,” Anita van der Sloot, Joran’s mother, told “Good Morning America.”

Really? That is rather odd Mrs. Van der Sloot as it was two black security guards that were first arrested and blamed for the disappearance of Natalee. The finger was not pointed at your son Joran, conveniently enough, even though it should have been. Let us also remind the Van der Sloots and GMA that the two black security guards were arrested in part from lies that Joran Van der Sloot told in the beginning stating that he took Natalee back to the Holiday Inn.

The men – ages 28 and 30 – were arrested Sunday morning at two separate homes in the southeastern community of San Nicolas, Attorney General Caren Janssen told reporters at news conference in the capital.

Then from the interview we get the following two comments:

Anita Van der Sloot, “They called it a murder case from the beginning”.

They most certainly did not call this a murder case as the ALE on many occasions claimed and pursued the runaway or drowning theory. It was Natalee’s father, Dave Holloway, that was told to go to Carlos & Charlie’s, order a beer and she would show up. The problem was with this investigation was that IT WAS NOT TREATED LIKE A MURDER INVESTIGATION in the beginning. Steve Cohen has gone on record and stated that the first 48 hours was botched during the investigation. However, many believe it was the first ten days.

Also it was the Aruban Prosecutors Office that came out with the following statement:

“the disappearance of Natalee Holloway has a strong suspicion that the young lady in question has lost her life as a consequence of a punishable crime committed against her”.

Just a reminder to the Van der Sloot’s, it was not the MSM, Greta or Beth Twitty that made the following comment, “these boys are guilty as Hell”.

Paul Van der Sloot, “She (Beth) has done a lot of damage to Joran and our family”.

No, you are a lawyer Paulus. You know what the term “mitigation of damages” means. You and your family pretty much brought much of this on yourselves and continue to do so. The fact that Joran lied in statements has everything to do with the plight you find yourselves in. What an amazing situation we have in Aruba. We have a family that in part created the damages that they are claiming by lying in statements and the the ALE, but will now be rewarded through a law suit against the Aruban government. So who will pay for this sum of money they the Van der Sloots will receive, Aruban tax payers or will it come through a new tourism tax? Remember that “no body, no case” comment Paulus? Seems like Karen Janssen does.

JANSSEN: Well, the father has spoken with those three suspects and he said he gave them some legal advice but I think the advices were going further than that. They spoke about the situation that when there is no body, you don’t have a case, and that was already in the first day after the disappearance. And secondly, the father and the mother have asked a friend of Joran, the suspect—the minor suspect, to come to their home to tell them what he has explained to the police. And that is, well, I can say was an obstruction of the investigation.

GMA should actually be ashamed of itself for running this interview that can only be done for ratings. Most of the facts are incorrect and easily contradicted and they actually reference Greta Van Susteren who has actually done some of the best reporting on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. However, GMA takes the opportunity to take a shot at Greta.

The case continues to captivate the public and the media — cable-news hosts such as Fox’s Greta van Susteren have taken up Twitty’s cause, calling Joran a liar and sometimes worse.

GMA, the reason why Greta and most Americans call Joran a liar is because he did lie. Multiple times. Please tell me that you know this? Of course Joran’s family is going to take his side and defend him no matter what he may have done. Who would ever doubt that? Even Steven Avery’s family thinks he is innocent and look what he did to Teresa Halbach.
