US House Votes to Repeal Job Killing Health Care Law, Obamacare, 236 to 181

And now for some GOP “Hope & Change” that a majority of Americans approve of …

The House takes a first step in repealing Obamacare. The US House of Representatives passed H.R. 2, 236 to 181, to repeal the job-killing health care law and health care-related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010; and providing for consideration of H.Res. 9, instructing certain committees to report legislation replacing the job-killing health care law.

Four Democrats voted in a bipartisan manner with the GOP, of course this number would have been larger, had so many “blue dog” democrats and other not lost in the 2010 election. Presently 60% of American voters are in favor of the repeal of Obamacare. Wow, what a novel concept, Rep. Dan Boren (D-OK) who voted with the GOP stated that ”there is more leeway for Democrats to vote for the GOP-led effort to repeal President Obama’s signature legislative initiative” and after 2010 elections, maybe we (Democrats) should listen to your constituents and vote your conscience. Really! You mean vote the will of your constituents rather than the agenda of your liberal leaning Democrat party’. WOW, who would have thought that is why individuals voted for a US Rep!!!

“I think after the shellacking, as they say, within our caucus, a lot of people realize, ‘Hey, maybe you should listen to your constituents and vote your conscience,’ ” Boren said on Fox News. “And I haven’t gotten a lot of pressure, a lot of pushback.

As stated by the Gateway Pundit, it would appear that Democrats are the “Party of No” on yet another issue that the American people are for. Although it might be next to impossible to repeal Obamacare with a Democrat controlled Senate and Obama in office who would most certainly veto the bill, the GOP can make every effort to do so and put politicians on record for the 2012 elections where they stand. The GOP can also make every effort to defund Obamacare.

In a recent Rasmussen poll, only 29% say Congress must fund a Law it’s unable to repeal. Inquiring minds want to know, did Chris Matthews get a tingly feeling up his leg after this vote, because others did?

As stated at the Washington Times, the Democrat controlled Senate will block efforts to repeal Obamacare and the government take over of healthcare. Do Senate Democrats really want to relive the Obamacare vote in 2012 after the 2010 debocle? Twenty-one Democrat US Senators are up fro reelection in 2012, inclusing ones in “blue states” like Ben Nelson – NE, Bill Nelson – FL, and recent GOP state pick ups like Jim Webb – VA, Joe Manchin – WV, Sherrod Brown – OH,  Robert Casey – PA, and once Democrat strongholds that voted Republican in 2010 like  Herb Kohl – WI, Claire McCaskill – MO and Debbie Stabenow, – MI. Good luck.

But the 236-181 largely party-line vote is unlikely to amount to more than a political message, since Democrats who still run the Senate have promised to block efforts to scrap the law and Obama has veto power.

Both sides are preparing for a standoff. They will probably take the big issues in the health care debate back to the voters in 2012, when Obama is expected to run for re-election and the House and Senate are up for grabs again.

“Today we are taking the first step in fulfilling a key promise to the American people,” said Rep. David Dreier, a Republican who led his party’s side in the debate. “We are setting in motion a process to repeal President Obama’s job-killing health care bill and replace it with real solutions.”
