Lost in Smallness: Barack Obama Calls Eagles Owner & Applauds Team for Giving Dog Killer Vick a Second Chance

Barack Obama, Lost in Smallness: The Michael Vick  Convicted Dog Killer Edition. Just curious Barack, what took you so long to jump on the Vick band wagon, Vick got his second chance in Aug 2009.

It was reported at Pro Football Talk, that President Barack Hussein Obama called the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate the team for giving quarterback Mike Vick a second chance. What? Obama finds time to call an owner of an NFL team to congratulate them on giving a dog killer a second chance, yet we have 9.8% national unemployment, record spending & federal deficits and record individuals on food stamps. What is wrong with this President that he feels the need to interject himself in sports? Recently, Vick stated that he wanted to own another dog. Maybe Obama is willing to give up his?

Though the Eagles didn’t have a chance to make news on the field tonight, they made some more news off the field.

Peter King of NBC reported during Football Night in America that President Barack Obama recently called Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate the team for giving quarterback Mike Vick a second chance.

President Obama explained that a level playing field rarely exists for prisoners who have completed their sentences.  Vick’s success gives all of them hope.

Why did Obama even interject himself in this issue? He is the President of the United States, why did he feel the need to comment on this issue? Once again we are witness to Barack Obama, lost in smallness. Doug Powers raises a couple of interesting questions regarding Obama’s reasons to make an issue of Vick’s second chance. What a shock that Obama’s chooses a divisive individual. Would the front-runner Obama have referenced Vick is he was not having a good season? Doubt it.

Would this call have been made if Vick had been having a lousy season? I mean, should the success or failure of a second chance be judged solely by QB rating? Heck, would the call have been made if Lurie wasn’t such a big Democrat/Obama supporter?

UPDATE I: Obama supportive of second chance for Michael Vick; however, Barack Obama had no comment on the fact that the dogs that Vick killed never got a second chance. What about the dogs Mr. President, don’t you have one? Kill a dog, get a second chance. I am sure BO feels really good about this.

“He of course condemns the crimes that Michael Vick was convicted of,” said White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton, “but, as he’s said previously, he does think that individuals who have paid for their crimes should have an opportunity to contribute to society again.”

Next Barack Obama will be singing the praises of child murderers and rapists who have got a second chance.
