Natalee Holloway: Aruban Boycott; Now the Travel Industry Reports on it

Posted in: Beth Holloway,boycott,Travel

As The Strategic Communications Task Force web site continues to spin the boycott, as news papers in Aruba print some almost unbelievable nonsensical articles and as many in Aruba are lead to believe that a boycott can only exist if the US State Department backs it comes some interesting articles in a publication that should make many in the Aruban travel industry nervous.

Much of the spin in Aruba and from places like the Strategic Task force claim that the fact are being misrepresented by the 24-7 cable news shows. However, I guess we are supposed to believe that the Strategic Task Force/ArubaTruth.com has no agenda? The fact of the matter is that the Natalee Holloway story is being covered by all types of media, print, TV and radio. It is also not just being covered by those that cover news stories. For those that think a call for a boycott will not work or has to be sanctioned by the US Government, you may want to think again. The news is already being disseminated through the travel industry.

Take a look at the following on-line Travel publication, Travel Weekly, ‘A National Newspaper for the Travel Industry’. You will have to sign in for free as it does exist behind a subscription wall.

Ala. governor calls for nationwide boycott of travel to Aruba (11/10/2005)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama Gov. Bob Riley, along with Beth Twitty, mother of missing teen Natalee Holloway, called for a nationwide travel boycott of Aruba, citing what Riley called “the prosecutor’s failure to properly investigate the incident.”

The move was denounced by Aruba’s Strategic Communications Task Force, a group of tourism, hotel and government officials set up to address issues surrounding the case.
