Even college age kids turning against Democrats?

Less than two short years ago following the 2008 Presidential election of Barack Hussein Obama, every one stated that the Republican party was finished, had no hope and no future. It would appear that the reports of the demise of the Republicans were a bit premature.

Enter Barack Obama, his socialist czars, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, $787 billion stimulus, Obama Care, record federal deficits, out of control spending and the most radical White House in the history of the United States. According to a NY Times article, now even college age kids are turning against Obama and Democrats.

The college vote is up for grabs this year — to an extent that would have seemed unlikely two years ago, when a generation of young people seemed to swoon over Barack Obama.

Though many students are liberals on social issues, the economic reality of a weak job market has taken a toll on their loyalties: far fewer 18- to 29-year-olds now identify themselves as Democrats compared with 2008.

“Is the recession, which is hitting young people very hard, doing lasting or permanent damage to what looked like a good Democratic advantage with this age group?” asked Scott Keeter, the director of survey research at the Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan group. “The jury is still out.”

What a reversal of fortune for Democrats. Is the youuth vote leaving the Democrats, or will they merely just stay home?

As stated by the Gay Patriot,  it “seems the surge in support among young people for Obama was based more on his personality and the imagery of his campaign than on the candidate’s (carefully concealed*) ideology”.

This is why it is important to know your candidate, not just get caught up in an image and catch phrase of “Hope & Change”. The youth appears to be paying more attention to Obama and his policies and how they directly affect them. It is they that will be paying for his ridiculous spending programs. I guess they missed that fact when they were voting for him in 2008.

For the record turn out and people that Obama reached in 2008 … 2012 seems like it will pale in comparison. The likihood that Obama will be a one term President seems more and more certain every day.
