Suspected NYC Time Sq Bomber Faisal Shahzad Arrested at JFK Airport

Posted in: Islamofascist,US National Security,War on Terror

An arrest has been made in the NYC Time Square failed bomb attempt.

“They just caught him at the last second”

30 year old Faisal Shahzad was arrested last night at 11 pm at JFK International Airport on board a flight bound for the Arabic Emirate of Dubai. Shahzad was a US naturalized citizen from Pakistan who lived in Connecticut.  He is suspected of purchasing with cash the SUV Pathfinder on Craigslist that was subsequently loaded with explosives and parked in the middle of Time Square in an attempted failed terror bombing plot.

Shahzad was apprehended aboard Emirates Flight 202. His final destination was Pakistan, a U.S. official said. Shahzad been in Pakistan for several months in 2009, returning in February 2010, the official said.

“It was clear that the intent behind this terrorist act was to kill Americans,” Holder said at a rare middle-of-the-night news conference at the Justice Department to announce the arrest, nearly three hours after Shahzad was pulled from the plane.

AG Holder stated that it was not yet known whether Shahzad coordinated the attack with other domestic or foreign elements.

Great work by the FBI, NYC Police, Connecticut police and the rest. In less than 48 hours the terror plot went from attempted bombing to arrest.

Still, within 48 hours, agents from Customs and Border Protection arrested Shahzad and took him into custody. It was not immediately clear what the charges were or where he was being held — or whether other arrests were imminent. The U.S. attorney’s office in New York said Shahzad will appear in Manhattan federal court Tuesday to be formally charged.

Red State brings up a valid point in all of the descriptions from the MSM and the comments from AG Holder … “What is Missing?” If you guessed the words “Muslim” or “Islam” you win the prize.

Shahzad’s Bridgeport, CT home searched by FBI

Bomb suspect busted at JFK; Pakistani US citizen ‘trying to flee US’

After the suspect was arrested, his homes were searched. According to reports he owned houses in Bridgeport and Shelton, CT. He was renting the one in Bridgeport while living in the one in Shelton.

Meanwhile,  FBI agents searched the home at a known address for Shahzad in Bridgeport, Conn., early today. Special Agent Kimberly Mertz said the feds had a court ordered search warrant on the three story clapboard house, but wouldn’t provide details except to confirm the search was related to the faield bomb plot.

Mertz wouldn’t confirm of this was Shazad’s address, but neighbors who were shown a facebook photo of Shazad recognized him as the owner of the house. He’d been renovating for the past 8 months or so — though he didn’t live there, neighbors said.

UPDATE I: Once again we are presented with a Muslim extremist terrorist hell bent on killing innocent Americans. The question now is how much outside foreign involvement did Faisal Shahzad receive? We are glad to see that AG Eric Holder is calling it a terrorist act, now if only the Obama Administration can find it in them self to refer to the suspect as a Muslim/Islamic terrorist. As stated at Hot Air, ABC is reporting that three people close to Shahzad are under investigation for any part they may have played in this plot.

The man was identified as Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized American citizen, who had recently returned from a five-month trip to Pakistan and the city of Peshawar, a known jumping off point for al Qaeda and Taliban recruits.

At a press conference early Monday morning, Attorney General Eric Holder said, “It’s clear that the intent behind this terrorist act was to kill Americans.” He urged America to “remain vigilant.”

UPDATE II: FBI states that cell phones key in Time Square bomber arrest.

UPDATE IV: Faisal Shahzad Tells Investigators he Acted Alone.

Three passengers were removed from Flight EK202 at JFK last night when Shahzad was taken into custody by FBI agents and New York Police Department detectives. However, Faisal Shahzad told investigators that he acted alone and denied any ties to radical groups in his native Pakistan in this past weekends  attempted Time Sq. bombing.
