March Madness Final Four 2010: Butler, Duke, West Virginia & Michigan St … 31% Pick the Blue Devils, but Hope Butler Wins

Posted in: Polls,Sports

FINAL FOUR MARCH MADNESS … LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

March Madness continues and the Final Four is finally upon us from Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the sports  pundits including President Barack Obama picked their brackets safe by stating that all #1′s would make it to the Final Four with maybe a #2 seed thrown in.

Most people pick Duke, but they hope Butler will win

Could this year be another Hoosiers in the Hoosier State?

In a year in which there has been no clear #1 dominant team in college basketball and so much parity, it should come as no surprise that no team from Barack Obama’s bracket picks made in to the finals. Instead, the last four team standings are #1 seed Duke Blue Devils, #2 seed West Virginia Mountaineers, #5 seed Michigan St. Spartans,  and last but not least #5 seed Butler Bulldogs from the Hoosier state.

See full brackets HERE.

According to the most recent Rasmussen poll, 31% are picking Duke to win the NCAA College Basketball Championship, while 28% picked WV, 15% picked Sparty and 13% picked this years version of the movie “Hoosiers” and the sentimental choice Butler Bulldogs.

Thirty-one percent (31%) say the Duke Blue Devils will this year’s tournament. Twenty-eight percent (28%) believe the West Virginia Mountaineers will be the tournament winners, while 15% feel Michigan State will cut down the nets at the tournament’s end. Just 13% think Butler, the Cinderella team, will bring home their first championship victory. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

However, when asked who you want to win the championship, the Butler Bulldogs top the list at 33%. We all love an underdog and we would all love to see a 2010 version of the movie Hoosiers play out this year.

When asked who they want to win the NCAA tournament, support for Butler soars. Thirty-three percent (33%) are rooting for the Bulldogs, but 24% want to see Duke win the championship. Eighteen percent (18%) are cheering for West Virginia, and just as many (18%) would rather see Michigan State win it all.

This is the first trip to the Final Four for Butler, a relatively small school from Indianapolis, and the first time a mid-major school has made it this far since George Mason’s historic run in 2006. West Virginia hasn’t made it to the Final Four since 1959. But the other two teams are no stranger to this level of play: Michigan State has made it to the Final Four six of the last 12 years, and this is Duke’s 15th post-season appearance.

UPDATE *** NO FOLKS, NOT LOOKING FOR LAST YEARS POST YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THIS YEARS BUTLER MAGIC!
