Colorado Senate Election 2010: GOP’s Jane Norton Leads Democrats Bennet & Romanoff … Obama a Detriment to Bennett?

Democrats Senate Chances, Rocky Mountain Low …

Senate Democrats find themselves once again in real trouble in their re-election bid for incumbent Colorado Senator Michael Bennett. According to the most recent Rasmussen poll, Republican challenger Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton has a 14% point lead over incumbent Democrat Michael Bennet and a 7% point lead over Democrat Andrew Romanoff. The Incumbency seems to be a real issue for Democrats in Colorado.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely Colorado voters finds Norton still the strongest of three Republican hopefuls against either of the candidates who hopes to be the Democratic nominee.

Norton leads Bennet 51% to 37%, a two-point gain for her from last month.

She runs just seven points ahead of Romanoff, a former state House Speaker who is challenging Bennet for the Democratic Senate nomination – 45% to 38%. In January, Norton had a 12-point lead, 47% to 35%.

For the two most prominent Republicans challenging Norton for their party’s nomination, ex-state Senator Tom Wiens and Ken Buck, a country district attorney, the contest with either Democrat is much closer.

What might be more telling about the Colorado Senate race is the anti-incumbency sentiment in Colorado. Recently, Barack Obama has been the kiss of death when coming to local races to campaign for Democrats. Just ask Deeds in Virginia, Corzine in NJ and Coakley in Massachusetts just what impact The One had in their race. All lost in states that Obama won in 2008.

President Barack Obama is coming to Colorado on February 18, 2010 to campaign for incumbent Michael Bennet which might but all swing the Democrat primary from challenger Andrew Romanoff. The first question might be to the Bennett people, is what are you thinking? Obama is toxic.

President Barack Obama is coming to Colorado Feb. 18, which could help former Colorado Speaker of the House Andrew Romanoff defeat U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet in the upcoming Colorado Democratic primary.

President Obama, with all due respect, you should butt out of this race.

Obama will swing through Denver to support Bennet, whom he has already endorsed, and it’s hard to imagine why Bennet or Obama think this might be helpful. The visit is almost certain to backfire.

EXIT QUESTION: How many Democrats will avoid Obama like the plague in the 2010 midterms elections?
