Why Navy Diver’s Now?

Aruba Today, Aruban Leader Asks US Navy to Help Find Natalee

I would just have one question regarding such a request. Was there not a team of FBI divers in Aruba initially to help search for Natalee Holloway? However, from all accounts the FBI divers were never even allowed in the water. So the question would be, why now over 30 days later are Navy divers being requested to do something that could have been done weeks and weeks ago?

Janssen said FBI divers were in the country but had not yet conducted any searches of coastal waters.

Aruban police spokesman Edwin Comenencia said earlier that FBI divers had conducted searches but suspended them on Wednesday because they had covered the area they set out to. Asked about the situation on Thursday, Comenencia would only say, “We are working together.”

Judy Orihuela, FBI spokeswoman in Miami, said two FBI divers traveled to Aruba over the weekend and returned to the U.S. early this week. “They were asked to do some site survey,” Orihuela said. “They never got in the water.” Orihuela said there are five FBI agents in Aruba observing the investigation.
