TSA: Newark Liberty International Airport Shut Down as Man Walked Through the Wrong Side of a Checkpoint Exit

Yet another security headache flying the friendly sky’s …

A terminal was shut down at Newark Liberty International Airport Sunday night when according to the TSA, Transportation Security Administration,  a man walked through the wrong side of a checkpoint exit. Let’s hope he was not wearing special undies! Flights out of Newark were temporarily halted following the security breach.

Police are seeking the individual, who walked from the public side to the sterile side, said TSA spokeswoman Anne Davis. No flights were allowed to leave from Terminal C Sunday evening, she said.

Authorities are reviewing video from airport cameras. They are not sure whether the man was once on the sterile side and went back, or if he never went through screening, Davis said.

Other travelers who had reached the sterile area after going through checkpoints are being moved back to the public area to be re-screened, she said.

The incident caused arrival delays and mainly affected Continental Airlines, which is the airport’s largest tenant.

Man was seen walking down an exit lane at Terminal C about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Are you serious? More than eight years following the September 11th attacks and we still have not figured how to prevent people from walking through the wrong side of an exit check point? No wonder Muslim terrorists with bombs in their undies can get on a plane!

We may want to start with the basics before we elaborate and completely inconvenience every law abiding, non-terrorist air passenger. Before we start preventing passengers from getting up from their seat an hour before landing and having a blanket in their lap, we might, call me crazy, want to be able to prevent individuals from entering through an exit. If we can’t do that 100% of the time, we are truly in trouble.

NY Democrat Senator Charles Schumer says Airlines ahould threaten to stop flying to airports with lax security. Would that include Newark Liberty International that can’t seem to prevent people from entering through an exit and bypass screeneing?

All the technology in the world is not going to prevent a terrorist act, if you can’t do a simple act like having someone enter the out door.
