There are continual updates and breaking news

Natalee Holloway, the Alabama teen that went missing in Aruba has still not been found. Updates to the missing teen and the investigations in Aruba to find her where abouts. The reward for her safe return has grown to $50,000.

The Birmingham News reports the “Search grows more urgent for teen missing in Aruba”

Police in Aruba said Friday the prognosis was growing darker as the search for a missing Mountain Brook teen dragged on.

Natalee Holloway disappeared early Monday on a senior class trip to the Caribbean island. On day five of the search, a reward for her return grew to $50,000.

If she is not found by Sunday, the case could become a criminal investigation, said Jules Sambo, a superintendent for the Aruba police.

As the days pass and we know nothing about her … we probably can start to think about something more serious,” he said.

Holloway’s family posted fliers blaring the word “KIDNAPPED” in red, but police said they had no evidence to support such a claim.

Late Friday night that Aruban officials were rejecting any more help offered by the US in the search for Natalee Holloway which most likely would not have been the smartest PR move for the “Happy Island”.

Authorities on the island of Aruba say they don’t need any more help from the FBI than it’s already providing in the search for a missing 18-year-old Alabama girl.

However, there may have been a change of heart and pressure placed on the Aruba authorities to do everything to find Natalee. It would appear that more FBI agents are being dispatched to Aruba to help in the search.

Justice Minister Rudy Croes announced late Friday that more FBI agents were heading to the island but he did not specify how many, according to The Associated Press.

Aruban police have been scouring the 20-mile-long island by boat, helicopter and on foot with assistance from the Royal Dutch Marines and the FBI. The TV show America’s Most Wanted is set to feature Holloway’s story during tonight’s broadcast.

From USA Today

Justice Minister Rudy Croes announced late Friday that more FBI agents were on the way to Aruba, though he did not specify how many or say how many were already on the island. FBI officials did not return calls seeking comment.

Authorities say there is no evidence that the honors student was abducted, but police commissioner Jan van der Straaten said “after four or five days you are afraid a crime has been committed.”

Her mother had pleaded earlier Friday for the Dutch government to request more direct help from the United States.

“We all have a common goal to find Natalee so we can bring her home,” Holloway Twitty told reporters in a hotel conference room. She choked up and left the room in tears.

Aruban Attorney General Caren Janssen had insisted earlier that local authorities did not need more U.S. help. U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Washington was “making sure that we provide all possible assistance to the family and local authorities.”

A $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to Holloway’s rescue, said Myrna Jansen, the director of Aruba’s tourism office. The Aruban government and local tourism organizations were contributing $20,000, while family and benefactors in Alabama were offering the rest, she said.

MSNBC reports:

More FBI agents headed to Aruba to help search for an Alabama teenager whose disappearance on the last day of a high school graduation trip has shaken the quiet Dutch Caribbean island.

*** Also the three individuals that were originally questioned in Natalee Holloway’s disappearance and were considered not suspects are now considered ‘Persons of interest.’

Meantime, three males being questioned in the disappearance of an Alabama teenager in the Dutch Caribbean are now officially considered “persons of interest,” reported WVTM reporter Andrew Hayenga.

The “persons of interest” are two people from Suriname and one from the Netherlands who were seen dropping the girl off at the hotel the night she was last seen, Hayenga said citing the deputy police chief of Aruba.

From Fox News: Police Search Closed Hotel for Missing Ala. Teen

Authorities told reporters Saturday that there were no new developments in the search for a missing Alabama teenager who went missing Thursday in Aruba despite a flurry of activity at an abandoned hotel near where the girl had been staying.

Police were seen actively searching each room of the Allegro Hotel in Oranjestad, which is currently undergoing renovations. The hotel’s casino, however, is still open.

Orin Kerr thinks all the missing persons in America are white women. He may have a point on how the media reacts. But remember, this is someones daughter, and many many people have children participating in these sorts of events these days.
