On the eve of Republican leaders meeting with Barack Obama on Friday, both sides have participated in verbal jousting following the landslide victories for the GOP during the November 4th midterm elections.
What is this nonsense about the GOP and Obama coming together and finding common ground? You have had 6 years to find common ground and vote appropriately. The American people spoke this past Tuesday and they 100% completely repudiated the Obama and Democrat agenda. Why on Earth would you think “We the People” handed control of the Senate to Republicans and increased the number of Republicans in the already GOP controlled House? It certainly was not to capitulate to Obama’s radical agenda.
When Obama speaks today about what he wants Speaker Boehner, you might want to remind him that … “ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES”.
Republican House Speaker John Boehner warned Barack Obama ahead of their meeting to not act unilaterally and go-it-alone on amnesty. He stated, if you play with matches, you will get burned”. Oh great, you mean Boehner wants to have GOP buy in on amnesty? I would like to remind Speaker Boehner and Republicans the same, your base will trash you and throw all of you out if you go ahead on amnesty. Also, nothing should be done until the new House and Senate members are in place. You are a lame duck Congress and nothing of any great significance need to be passed. You had your opportunity.
“I’ve made clear to the president that if he acts unilaterally on his own, outside of authority, he will poison the well,” Boehner said in a Thursday press conference. “And there will be no chance for immigration reform moving in this Congress. It’s as simple as that.”
The speaker trotted out the same warning when pressed on whether executive action would be a “catalyst” for congressional action on immigration, as the White House has suggested. “When you play with matches, you take the risk of burning yourself,” he cautioned. “And [President Obama] is going to burn himself if he continues to go down this path.”
