More Political Corruption: Baltimore Mayor Democrat Sheila Dixon Indicted on Theft, Accepting Illegal Gifts & Perjury charges

Yet another corrupt politican …

Baltimore Democrat Mayor Sheila Dixon was indicted Friday by a grand jury on 12 felony counts which included charges of accepting illegal gifts, theft and perjury. Yet another politician in a recent long line of them has been indicted. The cockroach principle continues … for every one caught there at 100 in the wall going unnoticed. If found guilty, the charges of theft over $500 are felonies and each carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. Also each perjury count carries a maximum of 10 years. 

A grand jury indicted Dixon on 12 counts, including four counts of perjury and two counts of theft over $500. She was also charged with theft under $500, fraudulent misappropriation by a fiduciary and misconduct in office.

The State Prosecutor’s Office, which has been investigating corruption at City Hall for nearly three years, said Dixon received holiday gift cards for four years from several people. Prosecutors said the gift cards were to be distributed to needy families, but were instead used by Dixon to buy electronics _ including an Xbox, a PlayStation 2 and a camcorder _ clothes and other merchandise and also handed out to members of her staff.

To follow the pattern of those before her like Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, Mayor Sheila Dixon says she is innocent, being unfairly accused and will not step down. One would think she was trying out to play in The Incredible Hulk, playing David Banner accused of a crime she did not commit. It follows the same pattern of Bill Clinton when accused of the Monica affair and that he had to get back to the work of the people. Macsmind seems to see the political pattern of an indictment is merely a distraction from their duties. Maybe if any of these politicians actually cared about doing the People’s work, they would not find themselves in hot water.

“I am being unfairly accused,” Dixon said in a statement. “Time will prove that I have done nothing wrong, and I am confident that I will be found innocent of these charges.”

Dixon said she would not step down. “I will not let these charges deter me from keeping Baltimore on the path that we have set.”

Although the Washington Post did state that Mayor Shelia Dixon was a Democrat, it appears that other media outlet omitted that little bit of information. According to News Busters, CNN anchor Kyra Phillips failed to identify the party affiliation of Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon was a Democrat. Stop the ACLU has also noticed some other media outlets refusing to use the “D” word. Although some MSM types mentioned that she was a Dem, as Stop the ACLU states, they neglected to mention her ties and support of Barack Obama.

Kudos to The Baltimore Sun, the AP, and Reuters identify her party affiliation, though. None of the stories mention that she was a big Obama supporter, and there was a big deal when she endorsed him (big shock, huh?) Too bad Obama won’t be “working with her to bring change in the months and years to come.” She’s a real “trailblazer.” She is soon to find out how large Barry’s bus is when it hits her.
