AL GORE – “It’s not easy Being Green”
For Oscar Award winning, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ Al Gore, its not easy being green. The hypocrisy keeps on coming. Who knew Al Gore owns and profits from zinc mines? We do now as The Tennessean article reads, Tenn. mine enriched Gore, scarred land. I can’t wait until we hear Al Jr’s next round of excuses regarding this matter. What carbon offsets will we hear about now? As the article quotes, “Mining is not exactly synonymous with being green, is it?”
But state regulators consider those permit violations minor, and monitoring reports provide a clean bill of health for the surface water in the area. Community leaders and health officials recall no health problems ever associated with the mining.
But now that the mine is reopening and Gore’s status as an environmentalist has grown, some of Gore’s neighbors see a conflict between the mining and his moral call for environmental activism. (The Tennessean)
As Instapundit states, its not that Al Gore may have done anything wrong, its that he has made money from a project that is extremely environmental un-friendly. The hypocrisy continues.
Even Gore noted in his letter that, according to Scorecard, “pollution releases from the mine in 2002 placed it among the ‘dirtiest/worst facilities’ in the U.S.”
More from Bill Hobbs and Powerline. More on the hypocrisy line with Al Gore from Polipundit.
How do you leftists that spent your money on his movie feel now? Suckers.
“Carbon offsets” are just like every other idea the left comes up with to deal with problems real and imagined, long on feel good symbolism, short on actual results.
UPDATE I: Whose Ox Is Gored?
The media discover the former vice president’s environmental exaggerations and hypocrisy.
(Al Gore, It’s Not Easy Being Green)
Its about time the MSM got on board in questioning the hypocrisy of Al Gore and his global warming claims. John Fund’s revelations in the Wall Street Journal that the MSM is once again taking the lead from the “ankle biting bloggers”.
Last Tuesday, the Times reported that several eminent scientists “argue that some of Mr. Gore’s central points [on global warming] are exaggerated and erroneous.” The Tenessean reported yesterday that Mr. Gore received $570,000 in royalties from the owners of zinc mines who held mineral leases on his farm. The mines, which closed in 2003 but are scheduled to reopen under a new operator later this year, “emitted thousands of pounds of toxic substances and several times, the water discharged from the mines into nearby rivers had levels of toxins above what was legal.”
All of this comes in the wake of the enormous publicity Mr. Gore received after his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” won an Oscar. The film features Mr. Gore reprising his famous sighing and lamenting how the average American’s energy use is greedily off the charts. At the film’s end viewers are asked, “Are you ready to change the way you live?”
What would we do without such “ankle biting bloggers” like Blue Crab Boulevard, Sister Toldja, Autin Bay, and Betsy’s Page to consistently show the Al Gore hypocrisy. It’s starting to catch up to him and Al is feeling the pressure that its not easy being green.
