Democratic Bipartisanship … Pelosi and Democrats Will Begin Without Republican input

So much for those pre-midterm election Democratic promises about bipartisanship. According to The Washington Post, “Democrats are planning to largely sideline Republicans from the first burst of lawmaking.”

But instead of allowing Republicans to fully participate in deliberations, as promised after the Democratic victory in the Nov. 7 midterm elections, Democrats now say they will use House rules to prevent the opposition from offering alternative measures, assuring speedy passage of the bills and allowing their party to trumpet early victories.

This really comes as no surprise as who really believed the Democrats boasts prior to the mid-term elections? Unfortunately, it appears many fell for the sound bites. There are consequences to elections and so they begin. One wonders whether President George W. Bush will finally pick up his pen and veto something.
