Former VP Dick Cheney Undergoes Heart Transplant Surgery, Receives New Heart

Former Vice President Dick Cheney has undergone a heart transplant. Dick Cheney had been on the heart transplant list for 20 months. The 71 year old former VP had suffered 5 heart attacks since his 30′s. Recently Cheney had been using a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) as a temporary bridge to a heart transplant.  Cheney had told NBC News in an August 2010 interview “the [heart pump] technology was originally developed to provide a transition, to take somebody who’s reached the point where they needed a transplant”. We wish Dick Cheney a speedy recovery.

Former vice president Dick Cheney, who has suffered five heart attacks since his late 30s, underwent a heart transplant Saturday after more than 20 months on a transplant list, according to his office.

“Although the former Vice President and his family do not know the identity of the donor, they will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift,” Cheney aide Kara Ahern said in a statement issued Saturday night. Ahern said Cheney “is thankful to the teams of doctors and other medical professionals at Inova Fairfax and George Washington University Hospital for their continued outstanding care.”

We wish Dick Cheney and his family well. Which is more than I can say by the LEFT. The Gateway Pundit reminds us of some of the truly horrible and pathetic comments made by the LEFT. One thing the LEFT cannot say … that Cheney does not have a heart.
