Tropical Storm Alberto heads for Florida

Here comes Tropical Storm Alberto. Batten down the hatches. Even if it does not turn into a hurricane, Tropical Storm Alberto may follow the coast to the New England state. They do not need anymore rain as they have experienced flood conditions throughout the past month. Let’s just hope it heads out to sea.

CNN: First named storm of 2006 Atlantic hurricane season
It was expected to continue growing but without developing into a hurricane.
“The satellite presentation of the storm is not very impressive, so not much additional strengthening is anticipated,” said hurricane specialist Richard Pasch

Hurricane warning issued for Alberto
A hurricane warning was issued for parts of Florida’s Gulf Coast on Monday as the first named storm of the 2006 Atlantic hurricane season gained strength as it headed toward the state, forecasters said. The warning from Longboat Key near Sarasota to the Ochlockonee River south of Tallahassee means Tropical Storm Alberto was expected to produce hurricane conditions within the next 24 hours. A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Longboat Key to Englewood.
