Obama’s EPA Says Jobs Do Not Matter … So Much for Obama’s Executive Order

Is it any wonder why the Obama Administration cannot reduce unemployment …

So much for President Barack Obama making his the rest of his term in office about jobs. Barack Obama and members of his administration have continually pandered to the American people stating that job creation was their top priority. Really? Wasn’t it during the 2011 SOTU speech that Obama said , At stake is whether new jobs and industries take root in this country, or somewhere else”.

Now it’s our turn. We know what it takes to compete for the jobs and industries of our time. We need to out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world. We have to make America the best place on Earth to do business. We need to take responsibility for our deficit, and reform our government. That’s how our people will prosper. That’s how we’ll win the future. And tonight, I’d like to talk about how we get there.

It would appear that Obama’s EPA was not privy to the memo. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Mathy Stanislaus testified this week before an Environment and Energy subcommittee hearing that “his agency does not take jobs into account when it issues new regulations”.

Watch the EPA official stammer over his answers to simple questions from Freshman US Rep. Cory Gardner. When one tries to answer a simple question and creates a ‘Who’s on first” comedy routine, you know we have a problem. As stated by Hot Air, Gardner did a great job of holding EPA Deputy Administrator Mathy Stanislaus’ feet to the fire, “He’s off to a great start”.

This became evident when EPA Assistant Administrator Mathy Stanislaus testified Thursday before an Environment and Energy subcommittee hearing that his agency does not take jobs into account when it issues new regulations.

“We have not directly taken a look at jobs in the proposal,” Stanislaus said, referring to a regulation that would govern industries that recycle coal ash and other fossil fuel byproducts.

US  Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO) questioned whether the EPA was complying with a recent presidential executive order and considering jobs in its regulatory process. The EPA issued a April 30, 2010 statement in the appendix of its regulatory impact analysis for proposed regulation under the Resources and Recovery Act (RCRA) of coal ash.

That statement said: “The [regulatory impact assessment] does not include either qualitative or quantitative estimation of the potential effects of the proposed rule on economic productivity, economic growth, employment, job creation or international economic competitiveness.”

Not only do the statements of the EPA contradict the Presidents comments from his SOTU but also Obama’s Executive Order 13563, which Obama signed in January requiring rules to take job creation into account when federal agencies issue new rules.

Section 1. General Principles of Regulation. (a) Our regulatory system must protect public health, welfare, safety, and our environment while promoting economic growth, innovation, competitiveness, and job creation.

In the end, is Obama really about jobs, or just his liberal agenda hid behind his regime playing 3 card Monty.
