Obama a Liar After All: Senate Democrats Vote to Cut Half a Trillion Dollars from Medicare and the Elderly

Remember when President Obama said to seniors at the Joint Session of Congress speech on September 9, 2009 , “And that is why not a dollar of the Medicare trust fund will be used to pay for this plan”. LIAR!

In fact, I want to speak directly to seniors for a moment, because Medicare is another issue that’s been subjected to demagoguery and distortion during the course of this debate.

More than four decades ago, this nation stood up for the principle that after a lifetime of hard work, our seniors should not be left to struggle with a pile of medical bills in their later years. That’s how Medicare was born. And it remains a sacred trust that must be passed down from one generation to the next. (Applause.) And that is why not a dollar of the Medicare trust fund will be used to pay for this plan.

Obama 2008

Who me, take away your Medicare … ah, never.

To the seniors of the United States, do you still think that Obamacare will not cut a half a trillion dollars from you and Medicare? Senate Democrats and Obama just took medical care away from the seniors of the United States in order to fund the government take over of health care.

How ya like that change seniors, change with no hope. Can’t wait for that political add to come out in 2010 and 2012 … Democrats stripped health care money from seniors.

Senate Democrats voted 58-42 to reject the amendment by Senator John McCain, R-Ariz., that would have stripped more than $400 billion in Medicare cuts from the nearly $1 trillion measure. Democrats Nelson (NE) and Webb (VA) were the only ones to cross party lines and vote for the McCain amendment. The following Dems up for reelection in 2010 just took a trillion away from Medicare, are you going to stand for that?

Bayh (D-IN)
Bennet(D-CO)
Burris (D-IL)
Dodd (D-CT)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Reid (D-NV)
Specter (D-PA)
Gillibrand (D-NY)

Remember that the next time you go to the ballot box in 2010 and 2012. The following Democrat Senators want to take a $1 trillion away from your healthcare and give it to illegals and those wanting abortions.

The MSM calls this a loss for Senate Republicans. This is a loss for those over 65 and individuals on Medicare, make there be no mistake about it.

Senate Republicans lost their first major challenge to a Democratic plan to overhaul the health-care system, as the chamber voted Thursday to reject a GOP proposal to strip the package of nearly $500 billion in Medicare cuts, its most important source of financing.

On a vote of 58 to 42, the Senate defeated an amendment by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) that would have sent the bill back to committee with orders to remove the spending cuts. The amendment effectively would have forced Democrats back to the drawing board after months of negotiations to craft a measure that would extend coverage to 30 million additional Americans without increasing budget deficits.

Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m sixty-four? No.

Senate Democrats Obama and the AARP have a lot of explaining to do to the seniors of America. These individuals just took money away from the elderly to pay for Obamacare. Shameful, simply shameful.

Of four amendments considered Thursday, McCain’s was the most potentially damaging. Medicare, the government health program for people age 65 and older, is hugely popular, and seniors are already skeptical about the benefits of reform.

The health-care bill would slow Medicare spending by about 5 percent over the next decade, and Republicans said that would decimate the program in order to finance insurance subsidies for younger people.

Democrats, backed by the AARP and other major organizations representing seniors, argued that the cuts would extend the life of Medicare by several years without reducing guaranteed benefits or increasing co-payments.
