AMBER ALERT ISSUED FOR TWO AMISH GIRLS BELIEVED KIDNAPPED IN OSWEGATCHIE, NY …
An AMBER ALERT was issued by New York state police for 12 year old Fannie Miller and 7 year old Delia Miller, who are both believed to have been abducted in the St. Lawrence County Town of Oswegatchie, NY. The two girls were taken from their roadside stand around 7:30 Wednesday night, August 13, 2014.
State Police say the two girls went to their roadside stand to wait on a customer in a white, 4-door sedan. A witness says they saw a passenger in the sedan throw something in the back, then get in the back seat. The car left and the victims were gone.
The girls are described as the following:
- Fannie Miller, 12, white with brown hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 5 feet tall and weighs about 90 pounds. Fannie was last seen wearing a dark blue dress with blue apron and black bonnet. The victim is also described as cross-eyed.
- Delila Miller, 7, white with brown hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 4 feet tall and weighs about 50 pounds. She was last seen wearing a dark blue dress with blue apron and black bonnet. Delila also has a round scar on her forehead and is missing front teeth.
The girls were put into the back of a small white, four door car. The incident happened at the Miller family farm on Mount Alone Road, Heuvelton at about 7:20 pm. The family was in the barn milking, and the two girls left the barn to go to the family’s roadside vegetable stand, because they believed a customer was there.
That’s when the abduction apparently took place. The information about the white car came from a passing Amish, who told investigators he saw a white vehicle by the stand at about the time the abduction took place.
A witness saw the pssenger of the car throw something in back, then get in the back seat.
A command post was set up at the Heuvelton fire department. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department at (866)NYS-Amber, 379-2222 or 9-1-1.
Two missing New York Amish girls were reportedly found safe Thursday after escaping two men who allegedly abducted them.
WWNY reported 6-year-old Delila Miller and 12-year-old Fannie Miller have been reunited with their parents after vanishing from a roadside stand Wednesday in the rural town of Oswegatchie in the northern part of the state.
St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain said the girls turned up cold and wet but unharmed at a home in Richville, about 13 miles from where they disappeared.
She said the girls were dropped off and knocked on the door, asking for help getting home. A neighbor who visited the Miller family after hearing word of the girls’ return said she spoke with one of their brothers, who said they were well and being checked out.
A law enforcement source told the station the girls said they had been abducted by two men, who took them to an abandoned house. The girls said the men told them not to leave and then left.
