Body Found in the Androscoggin River Believed to be 46 Year Old Dan Doherty of Auburn, ME, Missing Since April 4, 2013
46 year old Dan Doherty has been missing since the night April 4, 2013 in Auburn, Maine. His car was found abandoned, jacket and personal items on the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge between Lewiston and Auburn over the weekend. However, officials now say that the body that was found in the Androscoggin River Saturday afternoon is believed to be that of an Auburn man, Dan Doherty. Auburn Deputy Police Chief Jason Moen stated that the body was taken to the Maine Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and the cause of death.

A body found in the Androscoggin River on Saturday afternoon is believed to be that of a local man missing since the start of April, police said.
Dan Doherty, 46, went missing the night of April 4, leaving his car, jacket and personal items near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge before presumably going in the river.
About 1:15 p.m. Saturday, a body was spotted floating in the river around Boxer Island, near North River Road in Auburn. Police and rescue crews retrieved it.
