Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Says, I Take Responsibility” for Diplomats’ Security in Libya … the Buck Stops with Hillary?

Hillary Clinton takes responsibility for security failure in Libya, I guess we know who wears the pants in this Administration.

Secretary of State Clinton said she takes responsibility when it comes to security concerns in Libya in the run up to the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi where four Americans were murdered, including U.S. Ambassador Stevens. So the “buck stops here” with Hillary Clinton, eh? And we always thought as Harry Truman said, that “the buck stops here” with the President. However, not when it comes to pass the buck Obama. As stated at Weasel Zippers, how convenient this comment is made the day before the next Presidential debate.

“I take responsibility,” Clinton said during a visit to Peru. “I’m in charge of the State Department’s 60,000-plus people all over the world, 275 posts. The president and the vice president wouldn’t be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals. They’re the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs and make a considered decision.”

But she said an investigation now under way will ultimately determine what happened at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, where Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed on September 11.

“I take this very personally,” Clinton said. “So we’re going to get to the bottom of it, and then we’re going to do everything we can to work to prevent it from happening again, and then we’re going to work to bring whoever did this to us to justice.”

This hardly puts to rest the story of how a security debacle became a lie to the American people as to how this occurred long after the Obama administration was aware that the cause of the attacks was terrorism, not a video. But wait, uno momento por favor … why did it take five weeks for Hillary to fall on this political grenade? Better yet, why is she not resigning from office for such a catastrophic failure?

With all due respect to Hillary Clinton, that although her stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility for the security problems in Libya   , that does not even come close to explaining the coverup that took place after the killings, the blaming of the attacks on a video trailer, UN Ambassador Rice’s appearances 5 days later on the networks lying to the American people and Joe Biden’s comments during last week’s vice presidential debate that the White House did not know of requests to enhance security at Benghazi, contradicting testimony by State Department employees.

Doug Ross questions “I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha”. Political gotcha?

An Ambassador is dead and the administration trotted out a series of lies from the outset. And the key questions remain unanswered:

• Who ordered security removed from Ambassador Stevens when he and other personnel were requesting more security?

• Who made up the story about the video and the non-protest in Libya?

• And why were the false stories promoted for weeks on end?

Wow–it didn’t take long for Hillary to get thrown under the bus, did it?

SM: Hilary’s admission is about 5 weeks late though. It would have been more Stately had she done this just after the attacks and murders rather than repeating the video excuse.

Also, if she was really taking responsibility, she would have resigned from office. But we know she can’t do that because she is running for President in 2016.

Of course, the gutless Obama is no where to be found. However, Hilary’s admission does not put Benghazi-gate to bed because Obama is responsible for that.

Above in your related articles there, Hillary’s already said she won’t stay on in a second term. She won’t get the choice after Romney wins, of course. But make no mistake: she’s falling on her sword now as a rallying point for 2016.

SM: I wonder though LW, the admission that you are a screw up on foreign policy and got Embassy people killed is hardly a presidential positive.

The “intelligence community” is at fault. Who makes up this “intelligence community”? Pick me! I know … I know! Islamic appeasers.

The protection of Americans within and without the borders cannot be trusted to the Barack Obama administration for another four years.

Rice blames intel talking points for faulty Libya story; lawmakers raise new questions
      Published October 16, 2012

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice, in her first public comments on Libya since her controversial account days after the attack, blamed intelligence community talking points for the faulty narrative.

The light-on-details explanation Monday came as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took responsibility for any security failures leading up to the consulate attack last month. …

Rice did not offer many details on the nature of the intelligence updates or whether they reflected a more nuanced version of events than the one she told the Sunday after the attack. In those interviews, Rice repeatedly claimed the deadly assault was a “spontaneous” reaction to protests over an anti-Islam film. …

Rice told The Washington Post that she used daily updates from the intelligence community and talking points prepared by that community for senior administration members before her Sunday show appearances.

GOP Senators: ‘The buck stops’ with Obama on Benghazi attack and WH spin
      October 15, 2012

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and two of his colleagues said that “the buck stops” with President Obama with respect to the terrorist attacks in Libya, but they praised Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her willingness to claim the blame in the absence of the White House taking responsibility.

“The security of Americans serving our nation everywhere in the world is ultimately the job of the Commander-in-Chief,” said McCain in a joint statement with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H. “The buck stops there.”

Do we not elect a president to lead?

The job description is to lead the country. Part and parcel with that is to be able to work with ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR CABINET, especially the hightly critical position of Secretary of State and all that the pivotal role encompasses.

If Obama cannot lead– he is ineffective. If he is an ineffective leader, why keep him in office?

Please don’t respond with tripe about Republicans who refused to work with him or prevented passage of any intelligence information to the top with CORRECT INFO, or passage of any important legislation. He had two years with his own party controlling both houses – yet he could not pass a budget yet alone the need for more security at the Embassy, or even begin to start immigration reform.

After the Republicans took back control of the house he knew he would have a tougher time. An effective leader would have found ways to horse trade and get some of his agenda through. He did not. One certainly cannot claim he is an effective leader and blame his failings on those he is trying to lead, or his Secretary of State.

Hillary did fail. But so did her Boss and at the end of the day- he is the one that should take the fall. He is 100% responsible for the safety of American Citizens and for the deaths at the Embassy.

      They are on his head!
