This should be chilling for all Americans no matter what your party affiliation is, an incumbent US President’s DOJ going after his opponents top campaign donor. No abuse of power or revenge politics here.
President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice is going after Mitt Romney’s top campaign donor Sheldon Adelson. Frightening, simply frightening. The same DOJ that would not go after the New Black Panther Party for obvious voter intimidation sees fit to go after an opponents donor. Who else is on Obama’s enemies list and can you imagine what Obama and his henchman will do if reelected for another 4 years.
And this peons think I am a nice guy, boy do I have them fooled …
The Justice Department is investigating whether Las Vegas Sands Corp., owned by high-profile Republican donor Sheldon Adelson, broke federal law by failing to report millions of dollars of potentially laundered money transferred to its casinos by two high-rolling Las Vegas gamblers, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles is investigating deposits made in the mid-2000s by a Mexican pharmaceutical businessman, later indicted for drug trafficking in 2007, and a California executive with Fry’s Electronics, who later pleaded guilty to taking illegal kickbacks, the newspaper said, citing lawyers and federal officials working on the case.
As stated at Weasel Zippers this is a chilling abuse of power, yet the MSM is as silent as a church mouse. Imagine, just imagine if GWB had done this when seeking reelection?

#1- I wish America really would wake up.
Fair to say, the one thing that is always present in most American Politics on either side of the aisle, is corruption.
On that note, my hope is that America is not fooled again into voting Obama, a Socialist in disguise, in to office again for a second term.

As a matter of fact, the Bush DOJ declined to follow-through on their initial investigation dropping it before Obama took office (http://goo.gl/w6gQr).
Since correlation is not causation (http://goo.gl/urDEG), the premise of this story may not be true. More important than the Romney-Adelson relationship should be the charges being investigated. They may or may not pan out (see my 1st point above), but to deny or short-cut the process would seem to be a reversal of ideology; being the issue to the “uproar” over the so-called “Obama DOJ problem” with the NBP party (actually just 2 guys in costumes).
This is classic Obama election tactics. He has taken advantage of stolen, sealed court information obtained through unknown means, and any other thing that he can use to abuse an election opponent in every election where he was a participant.
The GOP need to begin an investigation into who gave the order to investigate this donor. If this is a political use of the DOJ, then some people need to go to prison.

If the DOJ is on a political hunt, presumably there would be specific evidence that supports the theory (otherwise such a charge is speculative).
If, however, this is a run-of-the-mill criminal investigation, then it is immaterial what political ties Adelson has; they would be coincidental.

SM: Coincidental my A$$. The Obama DOJ has been one of the most political one ever. Do not insult our intelligence. Once again I will say, you on the LEFT would be screaming bloody murder if a top Obama donor was investigated by a GOP DOJ right before an election. This was done to intimidate nothing more. Amazing that it was done right after Obama got his campaign funds received A$$ handed to him fro a second straight months.

Nothing was said that in any way reflected on anyone’s intelligence; I never spoke of anyone beyond Adelson and the whole of the DOJ.
If your don’t like my conclusions; that is of little relevance to me. However, if an assertion is true because it is claimed to be true, I recall that as a case of circular logic (http://goo.gl/gJzR).
One’s belief/position/opinion that this is “not a coincidence” can be fervently held; but has no bearing on whether this is in fact “not a coincidence”.
I would expect anyone who held the belief: “This was done to intimidate nothing more” would be able to convincingly refute major evidence that was known, or at least minimally to speak to certain specific claims of the matter and show they are not accurate or material.
Playing devils advocate, one could take the opposite position, and unless there was any evidence to consider; a stalemate would exist (he said, she said).
Conjecture on the reaction if a top Obama donor was investigated is speculation, of which I have no opinion nor prediction for.

Primarily, I don’t ascribe to the MSM mind-think; so the best I can say is I think they should look at the best facts they can find. My position is as stated in #6/7.

If he waited until after the election (assuming he wins) y’all would be screaming about “payback”.
If he waited until after the election (assuming he loses) y’all would be screaming about revenge.
If he waited until after the inauguration (assuming he loses), then it would up to Romney to prosecute his own chief donor.
If the facts are that his casino (perhaps not even him) funneled hundreds of millions of dollars of laundered money, then let the chips fall.

Honestly, I really don’t know.
I haven’t seen data (facts, as you say) that examines his DOJ and compares it to prior President’s DOJ. I’m not even sure of a good source to find the records for various DOJs to be able to make such a comparison. I can say with certainty that select “news” organizations, and possibly biased “reporting”, would be immaterial to me to try and answer such a question.
It would be a good thing to be able to figure this out with a degree of certainty.
