We have not even got to the trial and already it has taken a bizarre twist …
Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of George Zimmerman was arrested on perjury charges in connection with allegedly trying to hide money from the courts with regards to her husbands initial bond hearing. She is accused of lying under oath with regards to donations funds. As reported at CBS News, Seminole County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by investigators with the Office of State Attorney Angela Corey, 4th Judicial Circuit, who advised a warrant had been issued for the 25-year-old woman. Shellie Zimmerman posted a $1,000 bond and was released .
Really? The Orlando courts are really going to do this when Florida and most all the the country was witness to George and Cindy Anthony’s testimony on the witness stand during the Casey Anthony murder trial? Seriously? Shellie Zimmerman was asked during George Zimmerman’s bond hearing about how much money they had received from donations in a Paypal account. It was later determined that both George and Shellie Zimmerman had deceived the court, George Zimmerman’s bond was revoked and he was sent back to jail.
On Tuesday, she was arrested on a perjury charge and booked into John E. Polk Correctional Facility. It’s the same jail her husband has called home since the deception was revealed earlier this month, leading the judge to revoke his bond.
“The prosecutor sent a strong message that you have to tell the truth in court because it is the whole basis of the American judicial system,” said Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Trayvon’s family, after learning of the new arrest.
In an affidavit, prosecutors revealed new details about Shellie Zimmerman’s alleged efforts to hide money from the court.
George Zimmerman who is accused of second degree murder in the shooting death of unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.
Don’t get me wrong, one should never lie to the courts and it was extremely foolish what the Zimmerman’s did. Just a question, how many individuals have actually lied about their funds in order to lessen their bail? Does this strike anyone else as odd, or is it starting to look like that because the prosecution knows that they have overcharged the case and has little to no evidence against Zimmerman that they are trying to just make the Zimmerman’s looks bad so that they can later use it in court?

Of course the Prosecuters will use the mantra-If Zimmerman lied about this, what else is he lying about.
It would have been hard enough for GZ to get a fair Trial to begin with.
This mistake was costly.

He’s screwed. I feel badly for the guy that his Constitutional Rights may well be in the process of being violated, but what kind of a dumb ass who gets charged with ALLEGEDLY murdering a Teenager LIES to a Judge about his income?
ANSWER: A dumb one.
I don’t want to see him convicted for a Crime he didn’t commit- but if there is one thing I can’t stand it’s a LIAR or a SLEEZEBALL.
Why were the Zimmerman’s LYING about the income they received? Oh, poor George couldn’t afford his Attornies, eh? DISHONESTY is what it is, DISHONEST.
What he and his Wife did was ridiculous, and I am surprised that their their Attornies did not advise them what to do at that hearing? Are you KIDDING ME? Why should the Taxpayers of Florida have to suck it up for yet another high profile Trial? This is BS.
I would have gladly donated to GZ’s Defense Fund had he not tried to pull a fast one.
Now my hope is that a Jury of his Peers can look beyond this and hand down the Man a fair verdict.
Thanks to the MSM and an over-zealous Special Prosecutor, and a huge mistake by the Zimmerman’s, things are not looking too good these days for George.

We do not know what the alleged lie consisted of. We only have the word of the DA.
With this DA, anything is possible. She is a trainwreck in the making.
This is all about beating up the Zimmermans in hopes of getting a plea bargain.
#5. ATG- I disagree. What is being reported is that the lie was FALSIFYING income on their Financial Statements at the bond hearing.
Even his own Attornies have been quoted in the press as saying they didn’t understand how this happened.
You can stay in denial all you want, ATG. Zimmerman PUBLICLY soliticed DONATIONS for his defense, on the internet. Monies were received to be used for this purpose. They were deposited in an account (this part I am assuming) and were intended to be used for the purposes of his litigation.
Income….is INCOME. They thought they could sneak this by LE or a Judge. Stupid, stupid , stupid. And playing stupid on top of being stupid is like a double whammy.
They’ll never get 2nd degree murder – it wasn’t. I hope he tells Corey just where to insert her plea agreement.
George did what Mr. Martin and Miss Fulton could not do for years – he made him a good boy!

#7-Carpe—For the benefit of GZ, I agree with you and I really don’t see him being convicted of 2nd degree murder.
There are no eyewitness to the ACTUAL killing, so IMO, that should give any potential juror reasonable doubt right there.
If TM did in fact, (there is evidence of this) assault GZ at any point in time during the altercation, then GZ did have a right to defend himself.
The charges of Murder 2 should never have been pressed in the first place, and most likely never would have been if the Martin’s didn’t make a fuss and then the MSM over expose this case in the Media.
