Barack Obama’s 2008 “Hope & Change” with America’s youth has turned to apathy in 2012.
Remember when Obama and his reelection minions were looking for a new campaign slogan for 2012? I think they might have found one. Unenthusiasm and apathy is the slogan for the American youth in 2012 when it comes to president Barack Obama. The once euphoric mood of today’s youth has subsided to apathy. Obama road to victory in 2008 on a wave of youth support in his run to the presidency, winning 66% of the 18 to 29 aged voters against John McCain. However, Barack has lost that youth “luvin’ feeling”. The foot soldier of 2008 are now the unemployed and underemployed of 2012.
“There’s definitely a significant sense that this generation are more apathetic headed into the 2012 election than they were in 2008,” John Della Volpe, director of polling for Harvard University’s Institute of Politics, said in a phone interview.
Obama’s approval rating among college students dropped to 46 percent last December from 58 percent in November 2009, according to a Harvard University poll. Fifty percent of people between the ages of 18 and 24 said they would “definitely” be voting, an 11 percentage-point decrease from the fall of 2007. A third of respondents said they approved of Democrats in Congress, and 24 percent approved of Republicans. Just 12 percent said the nation was headed in the right direction.
“The turnout will not be great,” Curtis Gans, director of the Center for the Study of the American Electorate in Washington, said in a phone interview. The war in Afghanistan, a lack of progress on closing Guantanamo Bay and a dismal job picture taint Obama’s prospects, he said.The unemployment rate among 18- to 24-year-olds was 16.3 percent at the end of last year, the highest since record-keeping began in 1948, according to a February Pew Research Center report.
We have stated for quite some time that there is no way that Obama could capture that same energy and crazed hysteria that vaulted him into office in 2008. It was based on emotion, not substance. It was based upon promises, not reality. It was based upon running against GWB, not the fact that Obama was ill prepared to be President. Four years later, Obama has kept few promises, has offered no fix to the economy and in fact the youth are worse off today than they were four years ago. They have certainly Lost that Luvin’ Feeling.

So when does an escalation of civil disobedience turn to … “NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE”?
Al Sharpton continues to fan the flames or racism and has called for an escalation of civil disobedience if George Zimmerman, the man who shot Trayvone Martin, is not arrested. Then what? Is Sharpton going to call for a continued escalation of civil disobedience is Zimmerman is not indicted, found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison? Seriously, the last thing this situation needs is an individual like Al Sharpton fanning the flames of racism and making ultimatums. Does anyone find it just a bit creepy that Sharption is escalating this story when he has a commercial internist to do so as he is employed by MSNBC?

If George Zimmerman is not arrested in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin soon, theRev. Al Sharpton will call for an escalation in peaceful civil disobedience and economic sanctions.

The record $640,000,000 Mega Millions jackpot has become a news story. Although most ever one realizes that they have a greater chance of being struck by lightening, have a greater chance of becoming a professional athlete and have a greater chance of dying from a TV falling on your head … the Mega Millions hysteria has captured America.
One has to wonder whether the economic misery in the US spurred on the buying frenzy of lottery tickets more so than in the past. People’s economic situations are obviously worse off today than they were 3+ years ago pre-Obama. Have people’s only dreams become so far fetched as that of winning the lottery? The record lottery amount just fed into the feeding frenzy for individuals to buy even more. It is hard to believe that more than 2 tickets per every US citizen bought tickets. It appears there are three winning ticket, 2-4-23-38-46 and 23 bought in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland.

Who didn’t see this coming? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The same could be said with hiring Olbermann and thinking that it would not end in a bitter split. Just ask MSNBC and ESPN. Such was the case with Current TV today when they fired Keither Olbermann. According to accounts, Olbermann clashed early and often with Mr. Hyatt and Current TV execs.
For nearly a year now, Al Gore and Joel Hyatt have been building their liberal cable news channel, Current TV, with the mercurial television anchorman Keith Olbermann at its center.
This week, the center collapsed.
Current said on Friday afternoon that it had fired Mr. Olbermann — one of the nation’s most prominent progressive speakers — just a year into his five-year, $50 million contract. It was the culmination of months of murky disputes between Mr. Olbermann and the channel that he was supposed to save from the throes of ratings oblivion.

I am guessing that he missed his American Idol moment. He may not be drunk, but he’s on something. Damn, stone sober I cannot remember the complete lyrics to this song.
