Joran Van der Sloot Trial in Murder of Stephany Flores in Peru Begins Today … Then Extortion Charges in US?

Finally, two murders later … Joran Van der Sloot will be tried in a court of law, it’s been a long time in coming.

Joran Van der Sloot murder trial of 21 year old Stephany Flores begins in Peru today. Van der Sloot is accused of murdering Stephany Flores on May 30, 2010, five years to the day of the disappearance and  presumed death of Natalee Holloway in Aruba. Joran Van der Sloot admits to killing Stephany Flores; however, he claims, as per his attorney  Luis Jimenez Navarro, that the murder was not premeditated. Joran Van der Sloot was charged last year with “qualified murder” and simple robbery, that  together could carry a sentence of up to 30 years in prison.

Joran van der Sloot goes on trial Friday in Peru, ready to admit to killing a 21-year-old woman while planning to fight more stringent charges that could land him more time in prison, his lawyer said.

About six and a half years ago, the Dutch national was considered the prime suspect in the case of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, who vanished while on a graduation trip to the Caribbean island of Aruba. He was arrested twice but never charged in connection with Holloway’s disappearance, which is still unsolved.

Yet van der Sloot’s trial in another high-profile case, which his lawyer said has a tenuous connection with the Holloway story, is set to go forward Friday.

The 24-year-old is accused of killing Stephany Flores in his Lima hotel room in May 2010. Police say that he took money and bank cards from her wallet and fled to Chile, where he was arrested a few days later.

According to Radio Netherlands, United States authorities are currently involved in negotiations with the Peruvian government to have Van der Sloot extradited to the US for trial immediately after his trial in Peru ends to face trial and extortion charges as he tried to extort $250,000 from Beth Holloway, mom of missing Natalee Holloway.

One thing is for certain, Peru has an opportunity to do what Aruba refused to do … provide justice for a murder victim. This time Joran Van der Sloot does not have pappa Sloot and his connections to get him out of this one. Joran, its time to face the music for the first time in your life.

      I certainly hope Peru does what Aruba would not.

      The Little Sporter will easily be spending a minimum of the next 25 years in jail for the Murder of Stephany Flores.

      Somehow, this still doesn’t seem fair to me especially since he and his deceased Father are personally responsible for the Murder of Natalee Holloway.

      In any event, given that from his noteriety Joran receives preferential treatment in jail—somehow I don’t believe we have heard the last of this case or Van Der Sloot.

      I pray that he does get extradited for the extortion of Beth Holloway, that cruel sick f*ck that he is.

      We will never forget you, Natalee, Beth & Dave Holloway. My wish for the family is to one day finally have some closure and find peace.

      just on the news.

      He confessed the murder and is likely to get a 30 year sentence.

      I hope that he doesn’t get send to the US after this.
      The jail where they are going to send it suits him fine (they call it the Siberia of Peru).

      cnn.com is reporting that JVDS’s trial has been delayed. The little slimer asked for more time to prepare his plea.

      Glad it’s just delayed! I don’t think JVDS can get out of this one – at least I hope not!!

      #3, that may be but he won’t tower over US inmates like he does peruvian prisonors. I think he would find a US prison stay a bit more uncomfortable.

      @8

      As long as he doesn’t end in a Dutch jail…thats vactiontime compared with Peru & US jails.

      I don’t know how he got an extension of time when he has more than ample time to think about his plea.

      Was this not a premediated murder? He well knew it was the anniversary of Natalee’s disappearance and he wanted to hurt Beth making her think that he could of done these things to Natalee as well as he did to Stephanie. The opening of the Natalee Foundation was going to take take place in Washington DC . He also planned to steal her car, money and credit cards.

      I hope he receives maximum time in prison with no
      protective custody or special treatment or special priviledges. Natalee and Stephanie’s families deserve to see justice prevail.

      #8, Rusty, true….but I was reading awhile back in a Dutch News Article how he is kind of treated like a celebrity in there amongst the murderers, rapists and low-lifes. You know, the “street cred” thing just because his 2 Murders were in the headlines Internationally. I even saw a photo of him smiling, looking happy and content with a thug on each side of him. Oh, can I have your Autograph, Joran?

      So, how true are any of the stories about how hard-core the Prison is? It’s BS. He is also supposed to be in isolation 23 hours per day, and now I don’t whether that is even a legitmate fact after what I read and saw with my own eyes.

      He belongs in an institution for the criminally insane anyway. IMOO, the Little Dutch Sporter is not even human. There is something sinister and evil about him, in addition to his Mental Health Issues. Even Anita VDS finally admitted he had severe Psychological Issues before he was a Teenager and he had been in Counseling. Too bad for the MOTHER OF THE YEAR (Not) it took the Murder of 2 innocent young Woman until she was finally convinced that Joran was a Murderer who needed help. They allegedly no longer have a relationship either. But I am thinking, it is only because Anita does not wish to pay for any of his Counsel and is embarrassed now that there is video evidence her Son murdered yet another young lady.

      Sad, sad, sad.

      The sleazer knew exactly what he was doing in court. He displayed his contempt for women AND the legal process by appearing nonchalant and bored. He wanted the prosecution to play their hand first, and then by requesting additional time, he could figure out how to again change his story. It appears that some things never change with Joran. He never fails to NOT disappoint. Unfortunately for him, he’s in the Maze, and with Daddy dead, there is no one to pull him out this time. Hasta la vista, baby!

      @11

      She (Anita) said in an interview that she wants distance between Joran and her for the sake of her other children.
      She does plan on visiting him in jail…because he is still her son.

      #13-Dolf. Let’s not even go there. To say both she and Paulus miserably failed as Enablers-in-Denail and failed at some very important parts of Parenthood in general is an understatement.

      Yes, she is still his Mother- but I, for one do not feel bad for her.

      Same with George and Cindy Anthony—DITTO DITTO DITTO, so as Parents in general, they all suck.

      Sorry, JMO
