35 Year Old Robyn Gardner from Frederick, MD Missing in Aruba … Yes, the Same Aruba Where Natalee Holloway Went Missing

35 year old Robyn Gardner from Frederick, MD is missing in Aruba. Gardner was on the island with boyfriend of two years, Gary Giordano. According to reports, Giordano told investigators that Robyn Gardner never made it back to shore after the two went snorkeling. It is also being reported that he has changed his stories. Robyn Gardner was last seen on August 2, 2011.

Frederick Woman, Robyn Gardner, Missing in Aruba: MyFoxDC.com

It has happened again. An American Tourist has disappeared in Aruba, and this time, she is from our area.

35-year-old Robyn Gardner of Frederick, Md., vanished from the same resort town in Aruba last week where Natalee Holloway was last seen in May 2005. Holloway disappeared during a high school senior trip. Her body has never been found.

Gardner was on the island with Gary Giordano of Frederick, who police have now detained for questioning.

Just when many American tourists thought it was safe to go back in the Aruba water following the disappearance and death of Natalee Holloway, we have another missing female. Although it appears that the boyfriend’s story is a bit fishy, one never knows on One Happy Island.

Gardner was last seen on Tuesday, August 2 at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino in Oranjestad, Aruba, according to the Natalee Holloway Resource Center.

Gardner is described as 5’5″ and 120 pounds, with blond hair and brown eyes. She has tattoos on her left arm (back of her shoulder to her elbow), her rib cage, and her right bicep.

UPDATE I: Boyfriend under arrest in Aruba.

Authorities arrested Giodano at the airport as he was leaving the country. He’s being held on suspicion of murder.

A WTOP court records search online finds a man with a similar name has been in court in Montgomery County, Md. on domestic violence charges involving two women in the past. The most recent charge against him last year lists his home address as Gaithersburg.

JUST CURIOUS ARUBA … WHY DID YOU FIND GIODANO’S STORIES SUSPECT AND NOT JORAN VAN DER SLOOT. T I guess this America did not know enough people in high places to obstruct justice.

Although tragic and with all my prayers go to Robyn’s family and I truly hope they find Robyn. I just want to inform individuals who may have never been to Aruba. 1st. I travel to Aruba at least 4 times a year and I have NEVER experienced any problems and 2nd It is painted as if Aruba is this an island that abducts women all the time – Here in the US if you are to think they publicized every abduction you are mistaken – most are not even that important to the media. So I believe you should think before making any judgments

They will probably find the body. It will be just like the case from Alabama that the woman was killed by her new husband while diving.

This poor woman believed that the guy cared about her. Look for an insurance policy of some large amount.

The boy friend probably thought that Aruba would be a safe place for him to do his deed.

    3. Waterboy on August 9th, 2011 8:54 pm

She probable got in trouble while swimming and he was too scared to help her out, and let her go under.

This happen to me once, but I pulled the guy to shore, with two leg cramps and cramps in both my sides. All I could see when I closed my eyes, was his little wife asking me “why did you let him drown”.

The vision sure sobered me out of my fear of dying, to the point that it was both of us survive or we both die.

It was the right thing to do. How could I have lived with myself if I had done otherwise?

Ive traveled and lived in the whole Caribbean and believe me Aruba has the nicest people and is the safest Island in Caribbean to live, thats why I moved here to raise a family and start a business.Tourist buy tons of houses here and buy timeshares here and some have been coming back year after year for 40 years, most always come back for years. Why is that? They get to know the locals and the shop and restaurant owners by name.Who goes to St Thomas or Jamaica year after year?no one.Im tired of scared monkeys and Nancy Grace and others ripping on Aruba, who bent over backwards to help find Natalee, who was out drunk ,under age and unsupervised for a week here.No other Islands government would have done that. The rest of the Islands are filled with hate and discrimination making those places un livable, Aruba is the exception, a fun happy safe place.Thats why I left the U.S to raise a family here. Its the states that is so dangerous and have people missing every day, not here.

Dear Nancy i live in Puerto Rico And you are admiered in this country you are considered a hero, i want to share my thuoghts on the Robyn Gardner case, i have a few ideas on what could have happened. 1 if i was her boyfriend i would be to ashamed to even give my opinion on tv when clearly she was cheating on him, 2 maybe he foundout about her indisgresion, has the police investagated the possibility that her boyfriend went to Aruba to confront her, because he saids that if something happened she must have been calling for him, what if she wanted to disapear and got this man to go along with her plan because she knew that with no body no charges would be made… just a thought ty Nancy…Wanda Danielli

Adele – who cares what your experience is in Aruba…typical liberal “I’m better than you” mindset. Give me a damn break. Almost EVERY missing persons is reported in the United States; just because it’s not covered by the media does not mean these people go un-noticed.

I would bet there are MORE abduction; murders; etc than Aruba would like to acknowledge because it would CRUSH their economy if people knew the crap that goes on down there. In fact; it is KNOWN; that abductions and the slave trade are a hotbed in that part of the world.

Just because you never experienced any problems down there does not make it so….I would bet that you are not telling 100% the truth.

Waterboy – highly doubt this girl just drowned and he decided to let her go. This guy has a HISTORY of domestic violence. This guy told the missing girl he was GAY; her boyfriend mentioned this….what happened was this guy is INFACTUATED with this girl; she thought he was gay or just friends; he wanted more; she didn’t; so he killed her; pretty much black and white here…no suprises.

    7. Scared Monkeys on August 10th, 2011 6:02 am

Sorry #1, I have lived and worked on Aruba … had traveled there since 1975, it is in no way as safe as it once was or as friendly. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

What is going to be the story in this case is not that Joran Van der Sloot killed this American tourist, that is because he in in a prison in Peru.

The story here is the difference in hose the Aruban police and powers that be handle this case vs. Natalee Holloway.

It will be a 180, as there is no obstruction or cronyism at work.

    8. Deborah on August 10th, 2011 6:40 am

Adele – You are right it’s a lovely place and as safe as you could wish for. We go there twice a year with the family and the worst thing that happened to us was a stolen iPod.

Good to see that the police arrested this man before he could flee the island. Maybe they should have done so with Nathalie’s classmates as well.

      Hope they’ll find Robyn soon.
SM: Ask Natalee Holloway if she thinks that Aruba is safe. Oh that’s right, you can’t, she is dead.

Wonder what your opinion would be if Natalee was your child. hmm?

    9. Scott on August 10th, 2011 7:15 am

Deborah – you’re a bonafide idiot. You are as blind as a bat. Know the facts about the Natalee Holloway case before you spout your vile spew.

Natalee’s classmates were interviewed by the FBI; all checked out.

Joran killed a girl in Peru because she found out information about his involvement in the Natalee Holloway case.

Only people with their heads buried in the sand or people that have been in the sun too long think Aruba is a safe and nice place to vacation. LOL!

There are dozens of other islands in that place in the world that are more beautiful; have nicer weather and do not have the psychotic sickos that run around Aruba; including you, Adele and the other twit Wanda.

Of course Wanda the twit thinks this girl wanted to disappear on her own; while the man she was with lied to her about being gay and has had done violence against women in the past.

Please; the boyfriend was not even in Aruba. The guy she was with said she drowned; yeah right….only dipsticks like you would believe another dipstick.

      Aruba sucks balls!

    10. Moi on August 10th, 2011 7:15 am

Personally, I wouldn’t leave the USA for any reason other than to save the life of one of my children or husband. No way in hell would I leave this country.

During 9/11, my brother was in France and could not get back to the USA. Was scary. He was locked in a compound in Lyon for THREE weeks along with other Americans for “their safety”.

I may be a whimp when it comes to going outside my country, but least I am alive and well here and the police will investigate if one of our own commits a crime against me.

For those lauding how lovely Aruba is and it’s people, I’m sure it’s a beautiful place and the majority of locals are kind. BUT…the law enforcement and judicial systems obviously sucks and I’m not willing to take a chance on a LOCAL doing me in. Reason they will be happy to go after the killer in this case is it is NOT one of their own.

If I want to go to the seaside, I’ve got family in Tampa. Dunedin is just as pretty as anywhere in Aruba IMO.

    11. Rusty Bridges on August 10th, 2011 8:13 am

WOW! The police in Aruba solved a stolen I-pod case? They should get the Dutch Cross of Valor or something! Did they actually get the criminal or just another criminal that fit the bill?

Yes, many people go missing in the US, so what is your point?

In the US the LE actually try to find the perps and prosecute the crime not run cover for the criminals. Get it?

    12. Rusty Bridges on August 10th, 2011 8:17 am

Oh, and #1, they do abduct girls all the time. Remember, well obviously not, Joran said that they did this crime twenty times before and nothing bad happened? Yeah young girls get abducted all the time there, it’s called drugging and raping but the girls are too ashamed to get help and when they do fat azz Jacobs told them to go home and forget about it.

why any American would go to this dump after what happened to Natalee is beyond me ?

I went on a Caribbean cruise a couple of years ago. Someone else was making the arrangements & the ONLY requirement I had was that our cruise not be one that stopped in Aruba. I will Never, EVER spend my vacation dollars in Aruba. I am sure most of the local people are kind & loving people. But the LAW ENFORCEMENT there is corrupt beyond measure. Until there is Justice for Natalee no one should go to Aruba.

    15. Dolf on August 10th, 2011 3:51 pm

skip the cruise all together, because Aruba is the least corrupt of all those banana republics.
SM: Least corrupt? Hardly. Could prove you 100% wrong.

Holloway Resource Center helps in Aruba missing woman case
      August 10, 2011

In Frederick, Maryland Gardner’s boyfriend of two years, Richard Forester, said he just wants her back. The two fought but made up before she left for the trip, Forester claimed.

Forester contacted the Natalee Holloway Resource Center in Washington, D.C., which helped spread news of Gardner’s disappearance. The center was founded by Natalee’s mother Beth and provides assistance to the families of missing people.

Missing in Aruba Suspect’s Lawyer Says ‘There’s No Proof’
      Aug. 10, 2011

      Natalee Holloway’s Mom Gets Involved

The Natalee Holloway Resource Center, a foundation started after Holloway’s disappearance, has been offering help to Gardner’s boyfriend, Richard Forester.

“It strikes a chord close to home because that’s where my nightmare began, the day I got the call in 2005,” Beth Holloway, mother of Natalee, told ABC News. “We want to be a first responder to these families, we want to be there to help them. ” ….

Beth Holloway knows the dread Gardner’s family must be feeling and had advice for them.

“I think about just the devastating, unimaginable nightmare ahead,” Holloway said. “Being in a foreign destination is the most incomprehensible [situation], the language barriers, the foreign government. All of the documents are in Dutch, it’s Dutch law, and there’s not a homeland connection during the process.”

Holloway encouraged the family to ask Aruba to involve the FBI, she said.

“There’s a protocol you have to follow. The FBI doesn’t have jurisdiction in foreign places, but the family can send a plea to the government to ask them to invite the FBI to be involved. It’s one of the first steps I took early on, because it’s comforting to have the victim’s homeland law enforcement working on the case,” Holloway said.

Holloway said she hopes that Gardner’s family will keep up the search efforts for their daughter.

“I’d say continue the search, keep passing out fliers and passing information—tips, sources—onto the law enforcement officials there. I would encourage them to accept all media invitations. There are positive steps to finding the loved one,” Holloway said.

Though her own daughter was not found and no one was ever found guilty of killing her, Holloway said she hopes for different outcomes for Gardner’s case.

“I hope that she is found safe and sound and comes home, but if she isn’t, I hope the perpetrator is brought to justice,” she said.

    18. Tamikosmom on August 10th, 2011 4:45 pm

Beth Holloway comprehends perfectly the overwhelming emotions of Robyn Gardner’s mother as she deals alone with a justice system that place the best interest of its tourist industry over a victim.

Why did it take almost a week for the disappearance of Robyn Gardner to come to the attention of the media? Why was Gary Giordano initially given pemission to return to the States?

Could it be that Aruba was again attempting to swept the disappearance of an American on the Happy Island under the proverbial rug?

Page 55: Last night’s meeting with the DEA agent would be the last time we would see him. I was told he was just on the island “on vacation,” but considering his line of work, I have to wonder about that. Even wonder if the name he gave us was really his. None of that matters. I’m just thankful he was here when he was to help us get the ball rolling by directing us to go to Carlos ‘n Charlie’s, and helping us with the encounter in the van der Sloot front yard. But now we’re alone, politically and law enforcement-wise. Even though we’ve met Homeland Security and DEA representatives, there‘s nothing they can do for us. There’s no U.S. consular office here. No State Department representative. No FBI agent. We’re on our own.

Was Robyn Gardner a drug-user and alcoholic like Natalee Holloway was proven to be by the police? Was Robyn sleeping around with other guys like Natalee was according to the police? Is it only white-cheerleader-types that go missing from Aruba? Did anyone verify that Joran VanDerSloot is still locked up and not on the island? 24. Waterboy on August 13th, 2011 12:03 am

What police proved that Natalee was an alcoholic and a drug user? Was it the same police who covered up her murder and sheltered her killers? Was it the same police who’s chief was Joran’s Godfather? Was it the same police force that had Joran’s confession thrown out? Was it the same police who ask Dave Holloway on first meeting, “how much money do you have?” Was it the same police who destroyed evidence and let the preps have 10 days to help cover everything up? Is the above the police, the ones who haven’t been able to ever prove anything? Why would you believe anything they proved, unless you are in complicity with this elite force?

    25. Waterboy on August 13th, 2011 12:15 am

      Natalee was not a cheerleader.

I guess you’d have a lie about Stephany Flores as well if Joran had murdered her on ARUBA?

Joran was the drug user, and alcoholic, not Natalee.

Joran was the whore (men and women by the way), not Natalee.

It’s all in his book Jane, you really should read it before showing your ignorance. If anything’s missing…just ask Anita. Maybe she’s ready now to tell the truth about her sporter since he’s pretty much proven to be a psychpathic murderer and not the sweet boy she proclaimed to the world that he was.

BTW Jane, if you’re on Aruba like I think you may be… you might watch out for Sebas, he’s showing some signs that his raising may have affected him as well.

      Get your facts straight, Jane.

Susan Wilson obviously does not read the Aruban newspapers. How many of those American “return” visitors have been attacked, robbed, and/or beaten while on vacation in Aruba?

Susan Wilson obviously also has the facts confused about Natalee Holloway. She was not underage, Joran van der Sloot WAS though. Natalee was 18 years old when she traveled to Aruba, legally old enough to participate in the activities she enjoyed doing with her classmates while she was there. However, Joran van der Sloot was 17 years old…too young to be in the casino’s and under the lawful drinking age as well. If the casino’s and Carlos n’ Charlie’s had enforced the lawful age for either being in their establishment at all or for being served alcohol….Natalee Holloway more than likely would have NEVER MET JORAN VAN DER SLOOT. Natalee was also not on Aruba for a full week. Unfortunately for her, she was there long enough to be targeted by Joran and his “pimp” friends, who the authorities were well aware were targeting tourist girls on their final night on the island. Some survived it, Natalee did not. It is well documented that Natalee was not the first victim of this group that were seemingly “entitled” to victimize innocent American tourists. Is that what you consider “nice”, Susan Wilson?

I’ll help Susan Wilson out a little and give her some links to properly inform herself, I’m sick and tired of people from Aruba, who are afraid their businesses will suffer if/when American’s finally give that rock the finger, coming here and misrepresenting the facts!

      Some crimes against tourists…

Lily Konowitz beaten in the restroom of La Ronda April 2011, what did she do to deserve that? How far would it have gone IF she hadn’t been taught self defense? Should a self defense course be a required prerequisite to visiting the “Happy Island”?

Look here at a few of those that choose to attack the tourists in Aruba…

Do you think these tourists have booked their future trip to the “Happy Island”?

      That’s just a few that I found with a quick search…

Here’s a brief summary of ONE MONTH of crimes committed with guns in Aruba. Remember…Guns without proper licensing are prohibited in Aruba.

If Susan Wilson chooses to she could further educate herself by reading the entire Murder and Crime Rate in Aruba thread, before she comes here and acts like we, or even Nancy Grace; are just picking on Aruba.

She might just learn that Scared Monkeys do their research…

Have the authorities in Aruba ever solved the murders of Poentje Castro, Dorothy Hassell, and Eugenio Ramon Dake? Just a few that I recall without searching…there are many more. Will those murders ever be solved?

Is the drunk driver (before 9am in the morning) that killed 41 year old Canadian tourist Frederich Norman and seriously injured his wife out of jail and back to his usual routine yet?

I won’t even touch on the drug, and child rape/abuse issues and ridiculous sentences for those who are actually prosecuted and convicted of those crimes.

And there are how many people on that island again????

      Justice for Natalee Ann Holloway

      Where is Robyn?
She was drunk when last seen or she could have been drugged.
She was claimed to have disappeared less then two hours after she was seen at the bar.
Giordano took some very explicit porn pictures of Robyn.
There was no sign of a struggle.
There was no blood in the rental car.
Only Giordano’s shoes were wet when he claimed the current overtook Robyn.
They were on the side of Aruba that faces Venezuela.

      Conclusion she was sold.
Giordano doesn’t get charged for murder; is released and passes GO and collects $1.5 Million.

In so far as Natalee Holloway: There is no similarity in these cases other then they both disappeared on Aruba.
There were elite businessman on Aruba that contributed to Natalee’s disappearance.
