Maximo Altez , Joran Van der Sloot’s Attorney Quits Case Ahead of Next weeks Court Appearance in Death of Stephany Flores

The rats continue to jump ship from Joran Van der Sloot. The “Little Dutch Boy” is presently without an attorney ahead of his court hearing next week. Was this more scheming by Joran to delay the trial?

Maximo Altez, the defense attorney for Joran Van der Sloot has quit the case prior to next weeks hearing in the murder of 21 year Stephany Flores in Peru. According to De Telegraaf , Maximo Altez walked out on Van der Sloot  after quarreling over money and how best to mount his defense. Defense? How about just pleading guilty and throwing yourself on the mercy of the court and stop wasting every ones time?  Joran Van der Sloot is charged with the murder of Stephany Flores, on the five year anniversary of the dissapearance and presumed death of Natalee Holloway in Aruba.

Joran van der Sloot, prime suspect in the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway and set to go on trial for the murder of a Peruvian woman, has been dumped by his lawyer ahead of a crucial hearing, it was reported Tuesday.

The De Telegraaf said Maximo Altez walked out on his infamous client after quarreling over money and how best to mount his defense.

Van der Sloot, 23, has been held in custody in Peru for nearly a year over the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores, whom he is accused of robbing and killing in his Lima hotel room in May 2010.

Van der Sloot attorney resigns from case telling the Court that, “I cannot defend this case in the way he (Van der Sloot) wants me to.” What, you mean lie?

“I cannot defend this case in the way he (Van der Sloot) wants me to,” said Altez.  “We have a difference of opinion in the defense strategy.  I cannot discuss what the differences are.”

Altez said the lack of payment of his legal fees did not play a role in his decision.  He said he has always been aware of Van der Sloot’s financial situation and was happy to continue working pro bono.

May 30, 2011 marked the six year anniversary of the death and disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba. One of the last to ever be seen with Natalee, Joran Van der Sloot of course.

More issues and reasons for the legal divorce of Joran and his attorney, according to De Telegraaf, was a dispute with American lawyers hired by van der Sloot to deal with the Holloway allegations.

One apparently declared van der Sloot was prepared to be extradited to the States, despite Altez having repeatedly insisted this could never happen because there is no extradition treaty between the US and Peru.

More than likely the attorney could not get anything done because of the lies that Joran insisted on telling.

Someone needs to take this idiot Joran out to the woodshed and get his attention in a meaningful way.

I do not care if he sits there forever before a trial if they put him in the general population instead of his own little private hotel. I feel the problem would take care of itself in the general population.

Joran Van der Sloot & lawyer Maximo Altez are faking this disagreement.

They are delaying the case til the new extradition treaty between Holland and Peru is finalized. So Joran can serve out his time in a DUTCH jail.

After that a deal will be made for a eight years in prison for the murder of Stephany Flores. Watch Justice fall apart. Watch Holland protect their favorite son.

This actually helps van der snot because of course the trial will now be delayed so he can get counsel.

May Urine continue to have money problems! A free public defender? Does Peru have such a thing? I do hope Mama snot has learned her lesson and gives him NOTHING more.

Good to see that Joran is still suffering with inevitable problems in his life. My,thoughts and prayers are with the Flores and Holloway families. May God provide them peace and security in placing their sorrow in His hands and relying on Him for true justice… even among His ememies and the corrupt system in which we live.

Justice for Stephany, Natalee and the countless other victims of this monster, his family and their ruthless island.

      Boycott Aruba!

I hope the criminal defense attorneys down there shake down the Van der Sloots without mercy.

Different ballgame altogether in Peru, vs. Aruba’s good ole boys covering his (Joran’s) a$$… no surprises here that the attorney walked ~ there are no attorneys available that were his Daddy’s buddies to pull all the stops like the cronies in Aruba’s corrupt system did and let him go free… Aruba’s police department & judicial system has blood on it’s hands twice ~

      once for Natalee
      once for Stephanie

and only God knows of others that may have been trafficked or harmed.

      Shame on them.

Hard to believe it was not the money as to why he quit.

I look back and see how Joran was raised in that kind of lifestyle, drugs, drink, sex, party time all the time and indirect power from law enforcement. No wonder he turned out this way. He may have believed he was above the law because of his father and his connections to the Chief of police. Raised with the idea I can get away with anything. Mother will scold me and that’s that.

I hope someday he will change, turn his life over to God and make things right. I forgive him and let the bitterness and hate go because it will destroy you from the inside out. God had them paid for on the cross by Jesus Christ blood.

Knowledge of Christ is freedom from sin and death and hell. Open up to HIM and you will be set free like I was.

      it was money

      #11 -

From what I read, it may have more to do with how to mount the defense. Altez wants to use the case to illustrate the shortcomings of Peruvian law and justice systems. He is starting from the presumption that Joran is guilty, but that his investigation, arrest, and detention were unconstitutional.

Perhaps Joran wants a more conventional “The Girl made me do it” defense.

Now the money issue comes in. Altez is probably happy to represent Joran for a reduced fee since it helps is overall mission to overhaul the justice system…Joran gives him a soapbox. But if Joran won’t give him a soapbox, then its not worth it to represent him.

    13. just1girl on June 3rd, 2011 9:09 pm

@ Steve: God Bless you. I am glad that you are able to walk in forgiveness & of course we should all pray that Joran truly will turn his life over to God. But- he must still pay the penalty here on earth for the crimes he has committed.

    14. Hope on June 4th, 2011 6:23 pm

      @ Steve Holloway:

I agree… hate will devour those who muture that overwhelming emotion; but even David the king of Israel suffered the consequences of his sin. His desire for Bathsheba resulted in murder; and, while he was repentant and forgiven, he never escaped the gloom that effected his household.

Joran’s sins, through heart-felt repentance, would be forgiven by our loving heavenly father; and while it could vhange alot of things in his life, it can’t erase the consequences of the sins he has committed. As Christians, being aware of our spiritual needs pray that everyone take advantage of the covenant God made with mankind through the sacrifice of His son; but, ultimately, its up to us to exercise the faith that leads to everlasting life. John 3:16

      God bless…

Hey,that peru woman is still alive and kicking. Joran has been set up and he will pay for the American girl, thats all this is about. Money can do a lot for someone. Joran will write a book when all this is said and done, and we will know what really happened.

    17. glad2bAmerican on June 8th, 2011 7:05 pm

Why would anyone be interested in reading a book “the lying-Joran Van der Sloot” would write. He can’t tell the truth, but there will be people who’ll read it is why. He could tell the truth & no one will believe him. Boycott Aruba for protecting this murderer of yet another innocent girl.

    18. glad2bAmerican on August 9th, 2011 12:49 pm

I don’t get it……why is Joran being allowed to divert his conviction in Peru courts….give him a court appt lawyer & if he doesn’t like it tough! Stephanie Flores father has money can’t he push some buttons and get this moron VanderSloot prosecuted NOW…I want him exposed to the other convicts in general population NOT protected. And congative visits…and has someone to do chores for him….always falls in a barrel of crap to come out smelling like roses!!!! Sickening Ricardo Flores use your influence! Make him PAY!!

Anyone who thinks Joran was set up is a complete idiot or a troll.
Way Way to much on this killer nut case.
Only one responsible for this is joran.

One can pray Joran finds baby Jesus or God,,But THERES GONNA BE SOME SERIOUS JUSTICE HERE.

I myself think this is some type of ploy, his lawyer could write a book along with tv interveiws and make plenty of money.(Most scum bag lawyers love to work free on highly publisized cases such as this..
I assume Joran is a tuff client to work with,,he lies so much and changes the story.
Joran and his lawyer are feeding off on eachother on what BS they can do.
His lawyer could possibly make it worse for him in the end,,they come down quite harder if you fight the system there, especially when your guilty as hell.
As for them extraditing him to Holland,,not a fricking chance,,even if down the line a treaty was made he’d still most likely have to half his time there.
And when the US gets him???,,if he’s still alive, they’ll give him the max.

This killer has a long road ahrad of him.

Vander Sloot is a smug rich boy creep FRY HIM
I think hes gonna buy out the justice system in Peru. Lets start a fund to hand out some justice to this creep , he does not deserve to breath the same air as the rest of us. God rest the lives he has taken and see if he smiles smugly at his day of reckoning .

I see my yesterday´s comment was removed. I´m so sorry that that people in charge of this column decided to play the audience into fanatical support of the genocide carried out by politicians today, and playing also with some family´s grief. It´s disgusting to call it “justice”

SM: Actually your comment probably went to the SPAM folder. Genocide, Huh? I will call “JUSTICE” whatever I want to. One gets to do that when they have been a victims right advocate.
