Americas Last World War I Veteran Frank W. Buckles dies at 110, Rest in Peace

Farewell to an Americans Hero … God Rest Your Soul.

On Sunday America lost its last link with an important era for America and the world, WWI, as it was referred to at the time, the war to end all wars. World War I veteran Frank W. Buckles died at his West Virginia home at the age of 110. Buckles was the last US veteran of WWI. According to Buckles enlistment records, he signed up for military service on August 14, 1917, he was only 16. Buckles died peacefully of natural causes

In 1917 and 1918, close to 5 million Americans served in World War I, and Mr. Buckles, a cordial fellow of gentle humor, was the last known survivor. “I knew there’d be only one someday,” he said a few years back. “I didn’t think it would be me.”

Mr. Buckles, a widower, died on his West Virginia farm, said his daughter, Susannah Buckles Flanagan, who had been caring for him there.

58% of Americans Favor Government Shutdown Over Spending at Current Levels

Once again President Barack Obama and Democrats are on the wrong side of the issue and against the  American people.

A recent Rasmussen polls states that 58% of registered voters favor a government shutdown rather than Barack Obama and the Democrats choice of current government spending levels. Just 33% are in favor of Congress avoid a government shutdown by authorizing spending at the same levels as last year. Democrats find them selves on the wrong side of the American people as 80% of Republicans, but most importantly 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party believe a shutdown is a better option until the two sides can agree on spending cuts.

As Republicans and Democrats in Congress haggle over the budget, most voters would rather have a partial shutdown of the federal government than keep its spending at current levels.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 33% of Likely U.S. Voters would rather have Congress avoid a government shutdown by authorizing spending at the same levels as last year. Fifty-eight percent (58%) says it’s better to have a partial shutdown until Democrats and Republicans can agree on what spending to cut. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The Politics of Oscar … What a Shock, Hollywood LEFT Bashes GOP Wisconsin Gov. Walker

Breaking news from last nights Oscars … they are Leftist, union supporting, Republican bashers.

As reported at ABC’s  The Note, during last nights Academy Awards, cinematography winner Wally Pfister went out of his way during his acceptance speech of thanking his union crew on “Inception.” But that’s not where it ended, he went into even greater Leftist politics backstage, off screen where he bashed Wisconsin Go. Scott Walker

Backstage he went further, expressing shock at Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s budget proposal, which would limit union’s collective bargaining powers. Opponents of the plan have been protesting at the state capitol for 21 days.

“I think that what is going on in Wisconsin is kind of madness right now,” Pfister says. “I have been a union member for 30 years and what the union has given to me is security for my family. They have given me health care in a country that doesn’t provide health care and I think unions are a very important part of the middle class in America all we are trying to do is get a decent wage and have medical care.”

Just curious Hollywood, how do all those non-Union folks ever get by?

Oh the amazement and irony of it all of the union label. As stated at Big Hollywood, isn’t it rather comical that  there is “nothing like an Academy Award winner who can afford to send his three children to whatever school he wants coming to the aide of the unions that have destroyed the public schools”.

Another shock, Hollywood types dropping the F-bomb and its just laughed off.

Long Shot Candidate Herman Cain Wins Tea Party Straw Poll

Herman Cain has wins the Tea party straw poll with 22% of the vote.  Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty (R)  came in second with 16% and Ron Paul in third with 15%. Although Cain is a long shot with as OTB states little chance of winning, many of his views and opinions are exactly what this country needs. Who is Herman Cain you ask? He is a conservative talk show host and former Godfather’s Pizza chief executive and now straw poll winner.

Video: Herman Cain on the Sean Hanity Show

Former pizza executive Herman Cain won on Sunday a 2012 presidential straw poll of attendees of a Tea Party conference in Arizona.

Cain won 22 percent of the vote in a straw poll of in-person attendees at the American Policy Summit, the first-ever conference organized by Tea Party Patriots, one of the larger umbrella organizations for Tea Party activists.

Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R), meanwhile, won nearly 50 percent of the votes cast by 2,300 online straw poll participants.

MoveOn.Org 50 State Pro-Union Support Protest Falls Far Short of Expectations

Million man pro-union protest march, eh? Well if you bet the under, you won big.

As reported at Legal Insurection, the 50 state, or the Obama 57 states, pro-union rally in support of the Wisconsin public sector unions came up far short than initially predicted. It was only in Madison, WI where there was any sizable amount of protesters, including those that were bussed in. It would appear that only at ground zero of the debate  in Madison, WI  is there any traction of protest. The rest of the US was rather apathetic when it came to support of their union brethren. However, when adding the tally for the rest of the major cities across the US, the rally was a complete bust. When will MoveOn and the lib’s learn that astroturfed movements never work.

In Washington, D.C., only about 500 peopleshowed up (go to link for good photos of crazy signs). (Note, WaPo says 1000.)

In Columbus, OH, where you would expect a big crowd given a similar controversy, only “several thousand” people protested

Other head counts, based on news reports, include: Boston (1000), Portsmouth, N.H. (few hundred), Augusta, ME (small crowd), New York City (“several thousand“), Chicago (1000), Miami (100), Austin (several hundred), Chicago (1000); Lansing, MI (2000), Nashville (hundreds), Los Angeles (2000), Richmond, VA (300), Denver (1000); Frankfurt, KY (several hundred), Jefferson City, MO (several hundred), Harrisburg, PA (several hundred).

In some cities it was hard to tell who were the protesters and who were the folks just enjoying a nice weather day. Then there were the onlookers who is some cases outnumbered the protesters.

The Gateway Pundit reports that there were more Tea Party folks in Jefferson City, MO than union supporters where he spoke. As also reported at Newsbusters, try as the MSM might, embellish all they want and try to inflate the numbers … the rallies were a failure.

Maybe all the pro-union supporters were hiding out with the “Wisconsin Senate fleebaggers in Rockford, IL?

Murder of 4 American Hostages Aboard ‘Quest’ by Somali Pirates Could Have been Averted

Last week it was reported that four Americans were murdered aboard the hijacked ’Quest” off the coast of Oman at the hands of Somali pirates.

Now it is being reported  from the  UK Daily Mail that the murder of  four Americans, Jean and Scott Adam, from California, and Phyllis Macay and Robert Riggle, at the hands of Somali pirates could have been prevented. If this is the case, this hijacking and eventual murder of the four Americans is even more tragic than originally reported.

The killing of four American hostages on board their yacht may have been sparked by the U.S. Navy’s decision to detain two of the pirates who had come to negotiate with them, it emerged today.

Jean and Scott Adam, from California, and Phyllis Macay and Robert Riggle, from Seattle, were shot aboard the Quest off the coast of Oman, East Africa, on Tuesday.

A day earlier, two Somali pirates had boarded the U.S.S. Sterett stationed 600 yards away from the yacht to talk face-to-face, and American officials thought a breakthrough with the gang was imminent.

According to reports, the FBI negotiators did not take the leaders of Somali pirates that they were negotiating with seriously. The Somali leaders had left orders if they did not return, the hostages should be killed. Sadly, that is was happened.

A pirate source quoted by the newspaper said their leader had told them that if he did not return, they should kill the hostages. American officials say they do not know that to be the case.

Debra Oberlin, Former Gainesville, FL President of MADD Arrested for … DUI

You just can’t make this stuff up … IRONY ALERT!

Former president of MADD arrested for DUI: MyFoxORLANDO.com

The former president of the Ganinsville, FL chapter of MADD was arrested for, fire up the irony music … DUI! That is correct, 48 year old Debra Oberlin was arrested after police stated that her car she was driving was swerving. Police gave her two breathalyzer tests where she blew a .234 and .239. OUCH, the legal alcohol limit in Florida is .08.

Thankfully, this woman did not harm anyone and was pulled over and arrested before she could do any damage. It is kind of hard to believe that a former head of Mothers Against Drunk Driving chapter could be arrested for such a high breathalyzer test. One would think that she learned something when she was in MADD.

Reading, Writing and Arresting for 8 Year old Florida Boy … Arrested for 5th Time

8 Year Old Boy Arrested for the 5th Time … WHAT!!!

An 8 year old, unnamed,  85-pound, 4-foot, 8-inch Florida school boy has been arrested 5 times. All of the arrests have taken place since November 2010.  His first two arrests occurred in November and December as the boy hit and kicked school employees. During his November rampage, the 8 year old boy threw punches and kicks while yelling “Take me to jail”.  Does anyone think that this kid might have bigger issues than ones that will be solved by being arrested? Teh boy is reported as being a special-education student. Does some one maybe want to change his meds?

Let’s Have Count von Count … count the # of Arrests of this 8 year old Boy

On Tuesday morning, the boy fought another student in his Riverside Elementary School classroom and then left the campus with a school employee following him, according to the Sheriff’s Office incident report.

At one point, he returned to campus, jumped a 4-foot-tall chain-link fence and found several large wooden sticks that he then threw at school behavioral specialist Tawny Chiuchiarelli, striking her at least once, but not injuring her.

The boy then picked up a piece of galvanized pipe that he threw in Chiuchiarelli’s direction.

He was charged with battery on a school employee, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disruption of an educational institute

ARE YOU A STATE SENATOR FROM WISCONSIN … Hideaway in Rockford, IL!

And every one thought that Rockford was just known as the the former home of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League Rockford Peaches, ala ‘A league of their Own’. Not only is their no crying in baseball … there are no Wisconsin state Democrat Senators in Wisconsin.

Looks like Illinois is taking advanatge of Wisconsins AWOL “fleebagger” Senators. This is classic,  check out what the Rockford, Illinois Tourism Board did … “Hideaway in Rockford” with a special appearance from Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick.
