Daily Commentary – Thursday, December 16th, 2010 – School Board Gunman

  • A story about a man who opened fire on a school board meeting. Fortunately nobody was physically hurt, thanks largely to an on-duty security guard and the fact that the gunman was a lousy shot.

Welcome to Obama’s America, 23% of Likely US Voters Say the Country is Heading in the Right Direction

Hey America, how’s that Barack Obama ”Hopey, Changey” stuff working out for you?

In the most recent Rasmussenpoll, only 23% of likely voters say that the country is headed in the right direction, while 71% say it is on the wrong track.  76% of voters not affiliated with either political party believe the same. Even 49% of voters of Obama’s own party feel the country is headed in the wrong direction. Way to go Barack!

Just 23% of Likely U.S. Voters now say the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey taken the week ending Sunday, December 12. Down three points from last week, it’s the most pessimistic finding since January 2009.

Confidence that the country is moving in the right direction is down to 42% among Democrats from 59% the week before Election Day.

Forty-nine percent (49%) of those in President Obama’s party feel the country is on the wrong track.  Eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans and 76% of voters not affiliated with either political party agree.

DeFazio (OR-D) Says Barack Obama told Lawmakers not Passing Tax Deal Could End Presidency

According to The Hill,  US Rep. Peter DeFazio (OR – D) stated that Obama told lawmakers not passing the tax deal could end his presidency. Obama denies making any such  comment. Obama’s presidency over because of not passing the tax deal? Not quite, Obama’s presidency is over for many other reasons as soon by his continued low approval ratings and his signature health care legislation being in deep trouble with the people and the courts.

Might end his presidency … so he thinks his Presidency isn’t over yet, reminds of of the movie the Sixth Sense when the young boy Cole Sear says, “[they're] walking around like regular people. They don’t see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don’t know they’re dead.” Politically speaking of course.

In urging lawmakers to vote for his tax deal, President Obama is using one of his go-to lines from the healthcare debate, according to a Democratic lawmaker.

Obama is telling members of Congress that failure to pass the tax-cut legislation could result in the end of his presidency, Rep. Peter DeFazio (Ore.) said.

“The White House is putting on tremendous pressure, making phone calls, the president is making phone calls saying this is the end of his presidency if he doesn’t get this bad deal,” he told CNN’s Eliot Spitzer.

But the White House shot back late on Wednesday.

“The president hasn’t said anything remotely like that and has never spoken with Mr. DeFazio about the issue,” said White House spokesman Tommy Vietor.

So did Obama really make such dire statements regarding his presidency? As we are reminded by Hot Air, its is not like The One has a track record of making ultimatum statements regarding the success or failure of his presidency.

Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: Casey Anthony’s Defense Has Gone To The Dogs

As previously reported on blinkoncrime.com, the hearing last week ordering Jose Baez and his defense team to submit specific information regarding their expert witnesses, has gone to the dogs.

Woof!

Dr. Fairgrieve, a forensic anthropologist and expert witness listed for the defense, intends to testify that Casey Anthony should have the right to confront her accuser.

Novel, appropriate, good news.

Talk About Lame … 111th Congress Job Approval Rating Worst in Gallup History … 13%

The 111th Congress putting the “lame” in lame duck Congress …

83% disapprove of Congress and these clowns inflict a $1.1 trillion Omnibus spending bill on the American people as a parting present. The 111th Congress got this worst job approval rating ever, THEY EARNED IT!

As the lame duck 111th Congress thankfully fades into the sunset, Gallup polling know has this partisan Democrat controlled Congress with the worst job approval rating in Gallup history at 13%. That’s it, 13 lousy percent and frankly they are not deserving of that. The poll was conducted between Dec. 10-12, has a 4 percent margin of error; however,  after the latest outrage perpetrated by the Congress with the $1.1 trillion, earmark, pork filled Omnibus bill, had Gallup polled now the job approval would have been in single digits.

Americans’ assessment of Congress has hit a new low, with 13% saying they approve of the way Congress is handling its job. The 83% disapproval rating is also the worst Gallup has measured in more than 30 years of tracking congressional job performance.

The prior low approval rating for Congress was 14% in July 2008 when the United States was dealing with record-high gas prices and the economy was in recession.

As reported at CNN, a CBS News poll released earlier this month indicated that 17 percent of Americans approved of how Congress was doing its job, with more than seven in ten saying they disapprove.

However, for some reason as the Democrat controlled Congress flounders with an inept and pathetic 13%, WAPO-ABC for some reason wants to poll on things that have yet to happen. So aptly discussed  at  Questions & Answers,  what the hell is up with the Washington Post-ABC poll that claims, just 41 percent of respondents say the GOP takeover of the House is a “good thing.”

In the new poll, just 41 percent of respondents say the GOP takeover of the House is a “good thing.” About 27 percent say it is a “bad thing,” and 30 percent say it won’t make any difference. Most continue to say that the Republicans in Congress are not doing enough to compromise with Obama on important issues.

The shameful and comical WAPO-ABC title was, Public is not yet sold on GOP. Really? Could some one explain to me how someone could be sold on something that does not exist yet, hmm? The American public is literally saddled with the worst Congress in Gallup polling history, yet the bias WAPO-ABC poll analysis must have used a Magic 8-Ball to come up with the conclusion that the public is not yet sold. Please, as compared to the outgoing 111th Congress, only if the next Congress contained the KKK, al Qaeda and child sex offenders could they have a lower approval.

Has any Congress more ignored the will of the people and spitefully passed legislation that has done untold harm to America.

School Board Shooting Panama City, FL: Bay City Schools Superintendent Bill Husfelt, “God Blocked the Bullet”

So much for boring school board meetings …

Clay A. Duke opened fire on Bay City Schools Superintendent Bill Husfelt at a school board meeting in response to his claims that his wife was fired. Before the shooting started, Duke spray-painted a “V” in red with a circle around it ala ”V for Vendetta.” All of the insanity was caught live on tape from the live video streaming school board meeting.

A disturbed gunman shooting directly at him, a Florida schools superintendent was prepared to die but said today he was saved when “God blocked the bullet.”

“I was very confident that I was going to get shot. I wasn’t pulling for it, but I was ready if that was going to happen,” Bay City Schools Superintendent Bill Husfelt said today on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “I knew where I would go if I were to pass away. I was very prepared for that.”

The gunman, Clay A. Duke, opened fire on Husfelt at a school board meeting Tuesday night, but nobody was hit. A security officer, Mike Jones, exchanged fire with Duke, wounding him. Duke, 56, then fatally shot himself, the only casualty of the violence caught on videotape.

The VIDEO below has even more footage of the gun shots that took place including the shot that took the gunman down.

Obama’s Latest Appointee CZAR, Jon Bon Jovi … America Really is Living on a Prayer

More Obama ”hope & change”:  Bon Jovi edition,  Community Solutions Czar?

Barack Obama continues to handle America’s tough problems, appoints Jon Bon Jovi to the White House Council for Community Solutions. Good grief, we really are “Living on a Prayer” these days. Talk about more “Bad Medicine” from Obama. President Obama, “You give Love Leadership a Bad Name.” Barack Obama finally has realized he is nor a “ROCK STAR” so he appoints one instead.

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama signed an executive order establishing the White House Council for Community Solutions, and Bon Jovi appears as one of the individuals appointed to the group.

“The Council will provide advice to the President on the best ways to mobilize citizens, nonprofits, businesses and government to work more effectively together to solve specific community needs,” states the release.

“These impressive men and women have dedicated their lives and careers to civic engagement and social innovation,” said Obama. “I commend them for their outstanding contributions to their communities, and I am confident that they will serve the American people well in their new roles on the White House Council for Community Solutions. I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead.”

Jon Bon Jovi’s functions will be as follows as outlined by the White House:

1.)” enlisting leaders in the non-profit, private, and philanthropic sectors to make progress on key policy goals”
2.) “providing strategic input and recommendations to help the federal government promote greater innovation and cross-sector collaboration”
3.) “honoring and highlighting those making a significant impact in their own communities”

I might want to remind Jon Bon Jovi of some of the lyrics from one of his past songs before he gets involved with one of the most overreaching and meddling presidential administration in history … “Its My Life”. It is something that Obama and Democrats have forgot long ago … ITS OUR LIFE! So you would think with Bon Jovi’s rise to fame by doing it their way and not listening to the doubts of other, as stated at Michelle Malkin, “Bon Jovi’s first recommendation as Community Solutions Czar will be to get the federal government’s nose out of community issues.”

This is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow’s getting harder make no mistake
Luck ain’t even lucky
Got to make your own breaks

Chorus:
It’s my life
And it’s now or never
I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive
(It’s my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I’m alive
‘Cause it’s my life

Better stand tall when they’re calling you out
Don’t bend, don’t break, hell, don’t back down.

Which leads me to my final request for Obama and his ilk … can you please just “Runaway” … 2012 cannot come fas enough.

The Democrat $1.1 Trillion Omnibus Bill … Here Piggy, Piggy, Piggy … Enough is Enough!!!

Harry Reid and Dems give the finger to WE THE PEOPLE …

The Democrats suddenly claim they are fiscally responsible in playing class warfare when it comes to tax cuts for the rich, but they have no problem spending another $1.1 trillion in a near 2000 page Omnibus bill. GOOD GRIEF. This is what Harry Reid and the Democrats think of the 2010 midterm elections and the fact that the people said enough spending! Instead, Reid and the Dems just add more and more pork spending and keep adding more and more deficits to the already existing record one. Just 42 days ago Americans went to the polls and gave Democrats a shellacking as a political tsunami swept many spendthrift Democrats out of office. And now this.

America, this is what Harry Reid thinks of the 2010 elections. BTW, thanks so much Nevada

Can you imagine America, after the 2010 midterm elections … the Democrat majority think so little of you that they directly against your will. American told Washington to stop spending so what do Democrats continue to do … SPEND!

Senate Democrats have filed a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that would fund the government through fiscal year 2011, according to Senate GOP sources.

The 1,924-page bill includes funding to implement the sweeping healthcare reform bill Congress passed earlier this year as well as additional funds for Internal Revenue Service agents, according to a senior GOP aide familiar with the legislation.

The package drew a swift rebuke from Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee.

“The attempt by Democrat leadership to rush through a nearly 2,000-page spending bill in the final days of the lame-duck session ignores the clear will expressed by the voters this past election,”Thune said in a statement. “This bill is loaded up with pork projects and should not get a vote. Congress should listen to the American people and stop this reckless spending.”

The outrage of many can be heard from US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) in the following video.

“The American People Have Said Enough!”

“I thought that the message was pretty clear. That the American people said enough with the spending, enough with the pork barrel spending, enough with mortgaging our children and grandchildren’s future.”

VIDEO Hat Tip: Nice Deb

Have these shameless politicians learned nothing from the revolt of  “WE THE PEOPLE” in the 2010 midterms? And for their final lame-duck act comes the $1.1 trillion PORKTACULAR Omnibus bill. Oh but wait, its not just Democrats … its RINO’s as well. That and pissed off Republicans who were replaced in this past election like Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah).

“That’s my intention,” said retiring Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) when asked if he would support the package.

Bennett said earmarks in the bill might give some of his GOP colleagues reason to hesitate but wouldn’t affect his vote.

“It will be tough for some, but not for me,” he said.

GOP Sens. Kit Bond (Mo.), George Voinovich (Ohio) and Susan Collins (Maine) also told The Hill on Tuesday they would consider voting for the omnibus but want to review it before making a final decision.

Much more at Michelle Malkin and Red State. This is getting to be nothing more than criminal.

$247,000 – Virus free grapes in Washington State
$413,000 – Peanut research in Alabama
$125,000 – Fishery equipment for the Guam Fisherman’s Cooperative Association
$349,000 – Swine waste management in North Carolina
$277,000 – Potato pest management in wisconsin
$246,000 – Bovine tuberculosis treatment in Michigan and Minnesota
$522,000 – Cranberry and blueberry disease and breeding in New Jersey
$500,000 – Oyster safety in Florida
$400,000 – Solar parking canopies and plug-in electric stations in Kansas
$165,000 – Maple syrup research in Vermont

Get on your phones and call your Senators and SAY NO, HELL NO!!!

6,488 earmarks!!!

“Additionally, the bill earmarks $727,000 to compensate ranchers in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan whenever endangered wolves eat their cattle. As my colleagues know, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Gray Wolf program is under intense scrutiny for wasting millions of taxpayer dollars every year to ‘recover’ endangered wolves that are now overpopulating the West and Midwest. My State of Arizona has a similar wolf program but ranchers in my state aren’t getting $727,000 in this bill.

“Mr. President, I will have much more to say about this bill later this week. I assure my colleagues – we will spend a great deal of time talking about this bill and the outrageous number of earmarks it contains. But for now let me just say this: it is December 14th – we are 22 days away from the beginning of a new Congress and nearly three full months into fiscal year 2011 – and yet we have not debated a single spending bill or considered any amendments to cut costs or get our debt under control. Furthermore, the majority decided that they just didn’t feel like doing a budget this year. How is that responsible leadership?

The answer is, IT IS NOT. This is the reason why in 2012, fiscally conservative Republicans must take back the US Senate and the White House. America cannot survive if this continues.
