Barney Frank Says Death Tax Not Punishment Because Heirs Didn’t do Anything to Deserve It … But Government Does

Double taxation death taxes are AOK for Barney Franks.

US Rep. Barry Franks (D-MA) says that high estate taxes are perfectly ok because the heirs did nothing to earn it and that its a pure gift to someone who hasn’t done it on their own and did not work hard. They were just lucky enough to be related to some one who gave them the money.

But in the eyes of Liberal Democrats, its just fine for the government to take someone’s money where the government did nothing to earn it or work for it . In fact, the government has already taxed the assets at least once.  These liberals would rip the gold fillings from your teeth if possible.

Frank makes we need to vomit… And, so the government “deserves” what? Really???

I don’t follow the line of thinking on what the government does or doesn’t deserve (my term for didn’t earn it). When I think of any (or all) of the revenue the government collects (or receives), I’m not sure what it has done to deserve to collect the revenue.

I thought that the government collects revenue so that it can fund the programs budgeted for or enacted by Congress (I’m thinking of these separate from the perspective of whether or not one agrees with the specific programs being funded). I don’t understand how to relate the source of the money to the notion of “deserving” it. Deserving it for what purpose? National defense?

In the end, it seems the government needs to find a way to pay for budgeted items; the money needs to come from somewhere. If money is not to come from the estate tax, then other sources need to be identified.

SM: How can’t you follow the logic that studdering Barney says that heirs didn’t do anything to deserve or work for it, yet it is perfectly ok for the government to have a death tax, like they did something to deserve the $’s, other than litearlly taxing the people to death, and after death.

Sorry, but the wealth that a person gains in their life has already been taxed. So because they die, they should be taxed again. This is where you Libs don’t get it. More taxes are not needed, spending needs to be reduced. The Govt is out of control and has their hands in more things that the Founding Fathers never intended.

      REDUCE SPENDING, NOT INCREASE TAXATION.

While we are at it, end all pensions for politicians. Serving the people is not supposed to be a lifetime job.

This fool was re-elected. The electorate has the wool
pulled down securely over their eyes. Once the
‘Government’ considers itself an ‘entity’ that needs
to become invincible it has fully overrun all Constitutional
reason. We must continue to do our job of cleaning the
      coop!

Can you help me understand with an answer to my simple question: what does the government do to earn/deserve any taxes? BTW, I purposely didn’t discuss spending because the post didn’t either.

I also don’t follow your branding my political leanings (if any), just because I don’t understand how the government earns any taxes, or how a budget can be funded (you were the one who didn’t originally include spending changes, just tax changes). Don’t label me due to your errors.

Also, I didn’t know if you saw this as tax shifting or deficit spending, or whatever, because you didn’t offer any solution ideas. We’re not mind readers!

Now my advice for those who die, (taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman)
      ‘Cause I’m the taxman,
      Yeah, I’m the taxman.

And you’re working for no one but me.

      Taxman!

The government is made up of mostly rich politicians. let them pay for their own projects.
they need to work for minimum wage, drive the cheapest vehicles, fly coach and pay their own way and live like we have to. then we would see how many of them really want to serve their country and it’s citizens.

      I agree with Red.

Those earnings have been taxed once (or even twice) already. The whole taxing an heritage is just plain theft.

btw. the founding fathers lived in a different age. Think there wasn’t anything in the US constitution about funding NASA or airtravel, automotive industry and so on.

Franks is a zero. Those who “inherit”, newsflash brown tipped ***** Franks, are the very people who took care of their elderly parents. I’m doing that right now. Believe me, sometimes I feel like getting plastered drunk trying to help my 87 year old Mother as she’s rather difficult. Demanding? Heck, my drill sergeant in the Army was easier to get along with than my Mother. Franks is a loser, a liar, a cheater. He’s swindled more than is publicly known. Why do Congress people stay in office so long, so long till they draw their last breath??? Because there is something there, something happening, which they simply can’t seem to let go of, like a “drug”. It’s just another attempt for the federal government to take something from YOU & ME, that does NOT belong to them. Just like the health care law. 2000+ pages, don’t understand it, nobody read it, yet they passed it. O lied his butt off about that, and everything else.
