A Final Christmas Gift from Retiring US Rep Steve Buyer (R-IN) to the American People …”This is why the American people have thrown you out of power.”

GOP Congressman says what many Americans have been thinking for quite some time …

US Rep. Steve Buyer (R-IN), a retiring nine-term lawmaker says on the House floor exactly what many voters were thinking in the 2010 midterm elections. Fed up with the nonsense and BS from Democrats Buyer gave an early Christmas present to WE THE PEOPLE and a reminder to Democrats why they lost 63 seats and the GOP will soon be in control … This is why the American people have thrown you out of power.”

Rep. Steve Buyer, a retiring nine-term lawmaker Republican from Indiana, became a little heated on the House floor today as the chamber prepared to consider a bill out of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

As the House moved through a group of bills under the rules of suspensions, Buyer, attempted to seek unanimous consent to address the House for five minutes, but was overruled by the Speaker Pro Tempore, Rep. Rep. Laura Richardson, D-California. Buyer then tried to gain consent to address the House for one minute, but was again overruled by Richardson.

“A sitting member of the House, the Speaker, chooses not to recognize another sitting member, is that correct?” Buyer asked.

Richardson then told Buyer that “recognition is within the discretion of the Speaker.”

Buyer was attempting to voice his objects over a bill from the Veterans’ Affairs committee coming to the House floor under the rules of suspension. Just as the House was poised to move onto the bill, the chairman of the committee, Rep. Bob Filner, D-California, was absent from the floor and debate could not proceed.

“If the chairman is not here to present the bill, shouldn’t we go to the next bill and would therefore withdraw this bill?” Buyer asked. “I asked to be recognized. I ask unanimous consent to address the House for one minute.”

“I don’t even see anyone here on the floor to object, Madam Speaker. It’s within your discretion,” Buyer continued. “There is no one here to object. This is why the American people have thrown you out of power.”

Any anger expressed by the retiring Congressman is only a minute percentage compared to how pissed Americans are with the nonsense that continues in DC. The media can focus on the anger of a Congressman, however, it is WE THE PEOPLE that always have the last word … 2012 not too far off in the distance.

Buyer intentionally refused to identify the purpose for which he was requesting to speak. Was he asking to speak in favor of or to oppose a bill? The bill was being brought to the floor under suspension of the rules so there is limited debate on each side. He knew that. Secondly, Buyer is not without a past history for histrionics. See this UTube video, for example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uSDbfj7v3E

What is Ms. Richardson doing, exactly? It doesn’t appear that she is listening to Buyer at all, but rather is consulting the person to her right, “What am I supposed to say?” “What am I supposed to do?” “What’s the right answer to this?”

She looks like an unprepared teenager during a school play, consulting the drama teacher below the stage to feed her the lines.
