Daily Commentary – Monday, September 27th, 2010 – Natalee Holloway: When Petty Rivalry Interferes with Justice

Last week’s show was all about a dispute between people involved in the Holloway case, but how does any of this kind of stuff help bring justice to the victims?

It doesn’t bring justice it detracts from it!

It’s a shameful thing, all this backbiting and for what I ask…just because Tim and Steph decided to stand in judgement over Beth and her decision to make the documentary!

Well guess what fellows – It was her decision to make whether you like it or not! I’m sure she would rather be holding her daughter than making that decision any day!

All of your comments and judgements have turned right back on you. A friend once told me be careful when you point a finger because there are three more pointing back to you and AIN’T IT THE TRUTH!

Worst of all Dave Holloway has suffered a heart attack and not much has been said about that due to all this back biting!

I truly hope that Dave is okay and would like information on how he is doing instead of this garbage!

    2. nancy on September 29th, 2010 12:51 pm

I don’t see anything wrong with Beth making some money. Hope Dave recovers soon.

On June 16th we heard: “Aruban authorities say they will meet with Joran van der Sloot to talk about fate of Natalee Holloway”

      http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2010/06/aruban_authorities_say_they_wi.html

Then we found that it would naturally take them a few MONTHS to actually DRAFT the letter to Peru asking for permission to interview Joran. Seems like everyone else just walks into Castro,Castro and gets to see him no problem so what is the problem here Aruba? I mean, if Beth can get in to see him what’s stopping you??? It certainly isn’t a language barrier.

gee, joran living with all the comforts of a king ,in jail at that.wow never saw that coming,

Hi Kreiton – Doesn’t that just suck! I just don’t understand how he gets away with it. It’s like he has some magical power. He murders, he confesses, yet they don’t convict him. I know this case isn’t over yet but I just don’t understand what is taking them so long to get the show on the road! And yes, in the mean time he is treated like a king even if he is behind bars. It just sucks!

well,he does, have a computer,so I guess online gambling will be our friend.after all how long did it take him to blow 25,000?a couple of weeks, wasn’t it?so if he’s still rolling in doe in a couple of months, that means some one else is footing the bill, not silly interviews as currently believed.

      poor, pitiful Urine…

Joran Van Der Sloot Attacks Prison Guard
LIMA, Peru, Oct. 1 (TOTI) –

Joran van der Sloot continues to have issues while incarcerated at Miguel Castro Castro prison in Peru. The latest incident saw van der Sloot go “berserk” and make an escape attempt only days after he was visited in the prison by the mother of Natalee Holloway.

The 23-year-old Dutchman exploded after he was fed food that he thought might be poisoned, said National Enquirer in an exclusive story. He tried to punch the guard and flee the cell block before he was tossed back into his cell. There, he ripped of his clothes and screamed: “People here want to kill me!”

The incident occurred on September 15, 2010, when Beth Twitty, who is Natalee’s mother, visited him.

“After Beth confronted him, asking, ‘What did you do with Natalee?’ Joran realized how easy it was for anyone to get to him,” an insider said. “So when he got word that someone was trying to kill him with poisoned food, he went crazy.”

The thought of being poisoned isn’t that far-fetched. Joran van der Sloot bragged recently that he had received $50,000 from the Dutch media. He was using that money to bribe guards. He was also using the cash to get gourmet meals that didn’t come from the kitchen. That changed when he heard he was being targeted by a group of prisoners who were sickened by the charges he killed two young women.

“Those inmates got word to Joran that they were waiting for the day he’d have to eat regular prison food, and they’d make sure the food was poisoned.”

Four days after Beth Twitty visited, a prison guard who refused to take bribes from van der Sloot told the prisoner he would have to eat the same food as the other prisoners.

“Joran thought the guard was in on a plot to kill him, and he went totally berserk,” said an insider. “He yelled insults at the guard, and then threw a punch at him. Joran was hysterical. He was so crazy with fear of being murdered in prison that he started blindly running in a bid to escape. He made it through one door of the cell block and almost made it through a second door before another guard tackled him and held him down. If that guard hadn’t acted so quickly, who knows how far Joran would have gone? He could have found a hiding place in jail that could have led to an escape.”

After that, Joran van der Sloot was quickly overpowered by other guards and put in a cell.

“The guards could hear him screaming, ‘I want to get out! I haven’t killed anybody, but people here want to kill me!’ said the insider.

The guards responded by throwing Joran van der Sloot was thrown into solitary confinement.

“All the cockiness has been drained from him now,” said the insider. “Joran now realizes that he can’t buy everyone.”

      Latest…

Van der Sloot still waiting on appeal to throw out confession

      Last Update: 10:32 am

(AP) Birmingham, Al (WIAT) Even as tabloid rumors continue to swirl, Joran van der Sloot is still waiting for the justice system in Peru to resolve his latest appeal of his confession in the murder of 21 year old student Stephany Flores.

Her corpse was found in van der Sloot’s Lima hotel room five years to the day of the disappearance of Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway on a graduation trip to Aruba. She was last seen with van der Sloot.

The Dutchman confessed to killing Flores because she found material about Natalee on his laptop. But he promptly appealed to have that confession thrown out citing coercion and a variety of legal issues. The trial judge rejected that appeal. A three judge panel split 2-1 in favor of throwing out the confession but under Peruvian law it takes three judges, so a fourth appeals judge has been reviewing the case for weeks with, thus far, no decision.

And even that decision may not bring any real progress to the case. In the glacial pace of Peruvian justice, if the fourth judge votes against throwing out the confession, a fifth judge will be appointed to produce the third vote necessary to resolve the case.

Meanwhile, here in Birmingham, federal prosecutors are waiting for their crack at van der Sloot. He faces U.S. charges of wire fraud and extortion stemming from his accepting money from the the Holloway family after promising information about Natalee’s fate. He took the money but delivered no information. That case was being processed by American authorities when Flores body was discovered in van der Sloot’s hotel room in Peru. The U.S. has requested extradition but their claim is taking a back seat to the murder case in Peru.

I realize this is of course amateurish, but on the southeast corner of the island are two pet cemeteries, placed there, presumable, because small shallow graves could be easily dug.

If Viet Vet happens to be reading this, were these areas ever considered or searched?

Remember this, Joran had a dead dog, by report, killed with multiple blast of a paint ball gun. He had to do something with the dogs body only a few months before Natalee arrived on the island.

      Crossbow,

      Crossbow,

I’ve ask several times about your thoughts when Carpe was posting the pictures of the objects in the plastic, but you have remained silent on the subject. What were your thoughts at the time, or was this during the time when you were having your tribulations?

Did I understand that you went to Aruba? I would have loved that trip, not that I would spend a plug nickel—I’d take sack lunches.

You may not read the post anymore.

I’ve posted numerous accounts about what I think happen to Natalee in Aruba, and most here will agree with me. Did Joran slay Natalee—yes. Why?—why not? Does he have voices railing against reason? Yes?

Had Joran killed before Natalee? In my opinion, yes. He has. Has he killed after Natalee? Has he stalked the innocent? For sure. How many others has he drained of life’s fluids?—As many as he could get away with before being caught.

One thing is for sure; Joran won’t be hurting anyone else—except in the “Big House”.

I don’t think he will ever pass comment, that is tell what really happen to Natalee, and who would belive him?

Are some of the things he told in the hidden video the truth? Some, some are true—very little. He did not what to open the hidden door of his monster or admit what he really is. He fancies him self as a hero—what a sick , sick mind he has.

    19. Lisa in Maryland on October 3rd, 2010 7:32 pm

What do you think would happen if Joran said My Father and Jan Van der Stratten took Natalee’s body?

Do you think they would even question Van der Stratten?

    20. Lisa in Maryland on October 4th, 2010 2:25 pm

What is the point of having a three judge panel to rule on an appeal when they don’t respect the 2-1 rule? It sort of defeats itself don’t you think??

And why could the first appeal be denied by a three judge panel yet the second isn’t??

This does not make any sense to me and although I a may not be the sharpest tool in the shed I do have a reasonable ability to comprehend.

So what’s up with this BS and why, oh why, is it taking soooo loooong?

      Is someone getting a pay-off?

Two brothers allege defamation in a ‘Dr. Phil’ episode
      (CNS) Posted Wednesday October 6, 2010 – 12:35pm

Two brothers who allege they were defamed in a “Dr. Phil’ episode about Natalee Holloway’s disappearance in Aruba cannot have their case transferred to a courtroom dealing with legally complex cases, a Los Angeles judge tentatively ruled today.

Superior Court Judge Ramona See said lawyers for Deepak and Satish Kalpoe did not persuade her that the case requires exceptional judicial management usually reserved for large class-action suits tried in a courthouse west of downtown.

“Plaintiffs may be Aruban citizens, but without more, that does not prove this matter is complex,’ See wrote in her tentative decision.

See is scheduled to hear any further arguments on Thursday before issuing a final ruling.

The brothers’ attorneys argued the case is complex because of its international connections, including the need to question witnesses who live in Aruba.

They also cited the large number of documents filed.

However, the judge said there are only 2,000 pages of documents and that the trial is scheduled for Feb. 11.

The Kalpoes filed their $800 million lawsuit in December 2006 against Phil McGraw and CBS, maintaining their reputations were damaged in a Sept. 15, 2005, “Dr. Phil’ show that alleged they drugged the 18-year-old Alabama college student and raped her.

The brothers contend the “Dr. Phil’ episode implied they helped kill Holloway and dispose of her body. They also sued on allegations of invasion of privacy, emotional distress, fraud, deceit and civil conspiracy.

Holloway, of Mountain Brook, Ala., was vacationing with friends on the Caribbean island resort when she vanished the night of May 30, 2005.

Aruban authorities in 2008 cleared the Kalpoes of any involvement in her disappearance.

      why can’t i post???????

    25. cvc on October 6th, 2010 5:54 pm

Hi Lisa–I think nailing van der Stratten to the wall would require someone in Aruba actually caring about this case. In my opinion he is the one who has everyone terrified to say anything linking him to the disappearance or cover-up. Didn’t Aruba rule him to be totally innocent as far as helping Paulus or covering up the death and disposal of Natalee’s body?

    26. Lisa in Maryland on October 7th, 2010 5:31 pm

CVC, Yes, I believe you are correct that was when Aruba investigated Aruba – WAFJ!

    27. Lisa in Maryland on October 8th, 2010 4:39 pm

The Kalpoe’s attorney seems to think that Joran’s De Vries confession helps their case.

How about that??? What if nobody takes his confession seriously until it clears those two hooligans? Well if there is no confirmation on that confession one way, then there is no confirmation on that confession the other way!

And where do these idiots get off suing for $800 million? Neither of them would have even seen $1 million in their lifetime because they are both worthless POS! So how do they come up with a value of $800 million???

As far as suing Dr. Phil they can take a number and get in line. Everyone wants to sue Dr. Phil!

I find it extremely disturbing how low people associated with the Natalee Holloway case will go to make a buck. Joran, Anita, the Kalpoes, and those that support them in Aruba they are all blood sucking leaches and Tim Miller isn’t much better! IMO. Karma to all of them!

Joran is going to be sooo pissed off to see the Kalpoes trying to cut in on a piece of the action!

All we need is Justice for Natalee – Let her family find their PEACE!

I see there is some discussion on the forum of human trafficking.just think about this for a minute.all the news we read ,makes it sound like it’s impossible to stop it.they use words like trans-atlantic organized crime syndicites and crime family and inter continental organizations.but the fact is,it’s just a couple of tired old perverts ,sitting in a rec room somewhere, making decisions of who they kidnap and then sell to other perverts.it may seem like something distant and not your problem, because it’s so rare,REALY?JUST think about it.300,000,000 people in the U.S.A.THESE PERVERT ORGANIZATIONS are literaly grabing as many innocent girls as possible.it’s only that thier gangs can only handle a few hundred a week.thier gangs are about 2 to 3 hundred each.so they can only kidnap and sell about 100 of your kids every week.AND THE GOVERNMENT IS LOOKING FOR BIN WHO?THE TERRORISTS ARE ALREADY HERE.just look at any city.oh ,the chicago mob, lets make a god damm movie.WHAT?lazy criminals walking around like thier king shit, meanwhile living off the suffering of homeless kids,I was going to say girls, but dangerous perverts are now also buying boys,of course the criminals now have to install private crematorioms,to get rid of all unwanted and used up slaves ,you know to make room for your nieghbors kids, just bizness thats all

    29. Lisa in Maryland on October 9th, 2010 2:05 pm

The problem is there are so many pervs out there that you can’t catch them all! Look at the Jaycee Dugard case 18 yrs. living imprisoned in a shed in a Lake Tahoe, Calafornia back yard.

Her step father told the police she was abducted immediately and what did they do? They thought the step father was in on it. It destroyed her family.

      Waterboy:

No; I have not given up on reading and posting.

I really did not have too many thoughts about Carpe. He put up a good argument.
Could the bag contain Natalee? Anything was possible during the first week of Natalee’s disappearance.
I feel that something more sinister may have happen and evidence like that would not be left just laying around.
Yes: I went to Aruba. Yes: I check out a lot of places. However; our ship was only docked for 15 hours. It arrived at 3:00am right outside Senor Frogs aka Carlos and Charlies.
I was out on the fan tail looking right down Weststraad. At 3:00am not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
There was hardly any vehicle traffic on LG Smith Blvd at that hour.
In the morning tour buses arrived. About 20% of what normally greeted the ship at other ports.

We caught a cab to the seaport and picked up my rental car. And so for the next 8 ours we went from the seaport to San Nicolas, to the Lourdes Grotto, the Raceway (closed) through the Arikok Park.
BTW: It was difficult to travel this road in daylight let alone in Deepak’s car at night. We saw where the mattress was found at Grapefield. The cave where they found Pitbull. Through to Santa Cruz and the cemetery where they found Rene.
What was difficult was the absence of street signs.
We ate at the Arawak Gardens and checked out the Brickell. I took pictures right outside Matey’s, The old Lion’s Den, Alta Vista Chapel, the lighthouse, the SunSpree, The Millstone and many other locations familiar to this case.
I went to the Monserat Pond that was checked out in March. It was dry. You really could not get too close because of all the broken glass.
The best were right up in front of 19 Montana; hoping to see the van der Sloots.
I found out afterwards they were on a vacation. Also Paulus now drives a silver Ford SUV; well at least until February he did. A house was being built right across from Joran’s apartment.
I wanted to check the Lourdes Grotto because someone said it was checked before. I found out the description of the Grotto back then was not accurate. (actually a lie) There is no water in that cave; it is concrete along with the one across the road.
You know how I felt about cremation. Knowing that Paulus had been seen coming from the road the chapel is on, I went up to the Peace Maze and sifted through the sand for any kind of bone fragments or evidence of ash versus the sand.
I could not find the road to get to Lorenzo’s; which was just as well because after I told the other couple the story about him they became a little anxious and didn’t want to find it.
Another area I wanted to check but could not get to because we passed it and it was too late to go back was the abandoned amusement park visible from the hill in Hooiberg. (Perfectly secluded burial spot.)
I wish I could have spent a few days more; but time and the ship would not wait.
For the most part the native Arubans were friendly, honest, willing to help but very suspicious of strangers.
I hope this answers any questions; but please do not hesitate to ask.
BTW I have read Joran’s translated book, Patrick‘s, Beth’s, Dave’s and Hodge’s “Into The Deep“.
An interesting historic novel which is right on the money that I’m reading is called:
“An Island Away” it is about the Red Light District in San Nicolas and it is right on the money about 90% accurate from what I saw to compare.
One other thing: You would be surprised how some familiar names are linked as friends at Hi5.com

Remember October 21st is fast approaching and Natalee would have been 24.

    31. crossbow on October 12th, 2010 9:53 pm

I’m going to go back to the Chilean rescue.
I hope and pray they can all get out.
Take care Waterboy; I do check in from time to time.

Kush Chronicles: Peruvian Prison Guards That Sold Joran van der Sloot Weed Probed
      Posted on October 14th, 2010

Your boy Joran is at it again:

Embarrassed Peruvian law enforcement authorities are investigating how confessed killer Joran van der Sloot scored dope from a worker while inside his jail cell, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

Charged with killing college student Stephany Flores in Lima, van der Sloot – also the key suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba – remains behind bars in the notoriously harsh Miguel Castro Castro prison. But as RadarOnline.com reported, van der Sloot was nabbed in a hidden video sting talking to a drug dealer who asked him if he’d be interested in buying pot.

“I have marijuana, are you buying? Oe, Oe, Oe gringo! Gringo Van der Sloot,” the man said, to which van der Sloot replied, “Can you sell it to me for five soles?”

“The matter is being taken very seriously,” said one source in Peru. “The authorities have learned that an officer of National Penitentiary Institute, or INPE, was the one who sold the drugs to Joran.”Those involved in the shameful fact are fully identified on the tape and will be brought to justice.

“The investigation is being handled by the head of the institution, Wilson Hernandez, who has ordered a thorough investigation of all the staff at the prison, under orders from the Ministry of Justice.” Van der Sloot’s attorney, Maximo Altez, has claimed the drug bust was “staged” and he wants his own investigation. But in a dire warning, the former head of Peru’s INPE, Wilfredo Pedraza, has said, “The issue of selling drugs within prisons is severe, but is a reality.”

For the most part, van der Sloot is living in hellish solitary confinement, a windowless cell – barely large enough to fit a mattress and a hole in the floor for a toilet.

“Oe, Oe, Oe gringo! Gringo Van der Sloot,” the man said, to which van der Sloot replied, “Can you sell it to me for five soles?” SMH. That’s comedy.

So if he has to live behind bars lets give him some mental escapes! Solitary confinement??? What Joke Castro, Castro has turned out to be!

Thank God he is confined in a prison. I only wish that his family and everyone in Aruba was with him. They are all just as guilty. I truly wish someone could explain to me why the van der Sloots are being embraced on Aruba. Why weren’t they run out of town on a rail or tarred and feathered. Natalee and Stefany had so much to offer this world. They made the world a much better place in which to live. Why is the island of Aruba inviting Anita and her youngest son to social gatherings? Why is the youngest son posing for photos like a sexy, lady-killer type at parties for young girls on Aruba? I wish that maybe one of the regulars on the SM Forum, who has an inside track as to what all is going on in Aruba, could explain this to me. Can you imagine how this must make the Holloways and Stefany’s family feel when they see the social elite of Aruba embracing Anita and her son. What if Natalee or Stefany had been the child of one of these social elites? How do you suppose the Aruban LE and judicial system would have handled the investigation then?

    38. cvc on October 25th, 2010 9:28 pm

I just thought of something, maybe Anita is sitting on evidence there at the Holloway house. Maybe she can’t leave Aruba because she is sitting right there protecting incriminating evidence. Maybe that is why she remains in Aruba.

    39. Lisa in Maryland on October 26th, 2010 7:21 pm

Hi CVC – oops! You meant the Van der Sloot house (we know). Maybe CVC or maybe it’s just where she feels most at home. I don’t think the social elite of Holland think much of her whereas the Arubans seem to treat her with kindness. Too bad they didn’t show that kindness to Beth Holloway.

You and I both know it didn’t have to be like this. It didn’t have to drag on for 5+yrs and counting and another young girl’s life.

      Any News from Peru?

Five (5) Months have come and gone since the murder of Stefany Flores and what do we know? At this point we still don’t know if they are even going to accept Jorans confession!

Where is the DNA results Peru scoffed about? Peru said that would be out in a couple of weeks!

Where is the decision on the confession Peru said it would be out in a couple of weeks!

What the hell is going on? I guess we will know in a couple of weeks because that is the only answer we seem to get out of Peru.

Sure Joran is behind bars but still partying. Is Peru going to give him a 35yr cake walk? We will hit the half yr mark at the end of this month!

      Viva Peru my ASS!

      Joran Suing for Copyright Invasion

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) Copyright lawsuit? Joran van der Sloot “the brand?” One more legal battle on one more continent?

Joran van der Sloot faces murder charges in Peru in the death of Stephany Flores.

He’s sitting in Lima’s Castro Castro prison trying to get his murder confession thrown out of court claiming coercion and technical irregularities by police.

He faces U.S. federal indictment on charges of wire fraud and extortion from a grand jury here in Birmingham after allegedly trying to scam Natalee Holloway’s family out of a quarter million dollars in exchange for information about the fate of the Mountain Brook teen last seen in van der Sloot’s company on a 2005 graduation trip to Aruba.

He’s reportedly under investigation in Thailand over an alleged sex trade ring to import women from Southeast Asia to Dutch brothels.

Given that caseload, it seems pretty mundane to dabble in copyright law. But the Dutch newspaper de Telegraaf reports that van der Sloot’s family lawyer, Bert de Rooij, is looking at suing Dutch crime journalist Peter R. de Vries for violating van der Sloot’s right to protect his image.

“The manifestations of a person are therefore protected, as someone else who used that infringes your copyright,” De Rooij said in an interview. De Telegraaf also quoted him saying “”If there is an infringement then of course we consider a compensation.”

The same article quotes De Vries as saying a lawsuit would be a good opportunity for Jan van der Sloot to explain his behavior in the Holloway case.

De Vries, who currently has a two part series on the Natalee Holloway case airing on Dutch network SBS6, has pursued van der Sloot for years. He’s taped hidden camera “confessions” telling various stories about Natalee’s fate..only to have van der Sloot later say he was lying or making up tales.

de Vries current television project includes Beth Holloway discussing the alleged extortion and de Vries website promises next Sunday’s program will include hidden camera video of Beth Holloway confronting van der Sloot in his prison cell.

UPDATE: Watch the video purchased by Entertainment Tonight and the Insider from Dutch network SBS6.

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) The world gets a look Sunday night at the video of Beth Holloway confronting Joran van der Sloot in his Peruvian prison cell.

The video is the second part of a series appearing on Dutch Network SBS6. Dutch crime reporter Peter de Vries says Sunday’s video is part of an ”incredible journey with Beth. ”

There was a world wide media furor back in mid September when Beth Holloway accompanied the Dutch TV crew into the van der Sloot’s cell in Lima’s Castro Castro prison to confront the prime suspect in the disappearance of her daughter Natalee. The Mountain Brook teen disappeared on a 2005 graduation trip to Aruba. She was last seen with van der Sloot.

Part one of the Dutch program, which aired last Sunday, detailed van der Sloot’s attempt to shake down the Holloway family for a quarter million dollars in exchange for information about Natalee’s fate. The FBI was monitoring the process which resulted in a federal grand jury here in Birmingham indicting van der Sloot for wire fraud and extortion.

The Dutch website totaaltv.nl says the November 1 program was watched by almost 1.3 million people. Part two airs Sunday, November 8.

I’m surprised SM is not running a new thread for any of the latest reports.

More was said between Beth and Joran than the originally reported “You need to speak to my lawyer” comment.

You have to applaud Beth for Keeping her composure when you know she just wanted to strike him down. She’s absolutely AMAZING!

Beth, May God bless you and grant you peace!

      Justice for Natalee!

I can’t find where Peter and Beth’s documentary is listed on my television guide. Isn’t part two supposed to be on tonight? I couldn’t find it last week for part one either. Hopefully, someone who sees it will post the highlights of it here on SM.

    48. Lisa in Maryland on November 10th, 2010 8:36 am

Hey CVC, I don’t think they are airing the entire documentary in the US but only portions of it were purchased and on Entertainment Tonight although I missed it. They were talking about the case Monday on “Talk of the Town” – Just read an article that says that Joran’s attorney is preparing documents for Joran to sue Beth but I’m not sure for what – seems to have something to do with her visit.

I’m curious as to why SM is not following updates on the story and offering new discussion threads. Ever since this Tim Miller and Steff Watts mess they seemed to have stopped with this thread.

I’m really surprized that we have not seen a new interview with Anita on the topic of how she feels about Beth visiting her son and the new documentary from De Veris did air in Holland. Maybe that will come in a week or two.

I’m for any news that keeps this front and center.

      Justice For Natalee and Stephany!

I’m totally disgusted that when Joran went into the room with Beth he wasn’t even handcuffed! I think Peru is allowing him too many privileges.

He’s been in there for a while now and it really doesn’t seem to be bothering him. In the little bit of the clips I saw from Beths visit he shows no remorse. I would have expected him to fain it but I guess he was surprised it was Beth who was there.

They fired the jail director over Beth’s visit.

      Last update 11/8 CBS42…

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) Beth Holloway’s prison confrontation with the prime suspect in the disappearance of her daughter Natalee is once again causing an international ruckus.

Radio Netherlands Worldwide is quoting Dutch newspaper de Telegraaf as reporting prison chief Alex Samamé is being disciplined for agreeing to let Beth Holloway and Dutch crime reporter Peter R. de Vries stage a confrontation with van der Sloot in the Samame’s office.
According to Joran van der Sloot’s lawyer, his client was threatened with solitary confinement if he refused to speak to Beth Holloway. The lawyer says he is taking legal action against Peter R. de Vries for bribing government officials.

The prison interview aired on Dutch network SBS6 Sunday night but the CBS syndicated programs THE INSIDER and ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT purchased the video and have been running excerpts for several days. ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT (seen weekdays at 6:30 p.m. on CBS42) is promising more video tonight.

    50. Lisa in Maryland on November 10th, 2010 3:57 pm

I thought he was already in solitary confinement after he went bonkers or after he purchased the marijuana?

You know with all of these “incedences” Peru is going to screw up and that murdering fiend is going to walk!

He is suppose to be isolated at the very least and where is he getting the money to sue anyone?

Something is just not right here. Let’s see we have Party Pictures, Drug Deals, Interviews, No Handcuffs, TV,work out equipment and Interior decorating! WTF! What kind of a jail are they running?? And they say Castro, Castro is tough?

Not to mention that they can’t even make a decision on wether to keep the confession or throw it out and where is the other evidence?

With the way the Peruvian authorities are handling this I would not be surprised if that evidence disappears or as in the case of the DNA never appears! We were told months ago that the DNA report would be out.

I do not understand why the Flores family is not stepping up to the plate. Do they realize how easy this could slip out from under them. They need to bring some attention to this matter.

    51. cvc on November 11th, 2010 7:40 pm

      Hi Lisa,
I did see on the SM forum that Stefany’s dad is finally speaking out about the way Joran is being “treated like a king” (or something similar to that) in Castro Castro. I am so glad to hear Stefany’s dad say that. I hope it helps get Joran the treatment he deserves. I am like you Lisa. I just don’t understand all of this.

    52. Lisa in Maryland on November 11th, 2010 9:11 pm

Hi Cvc – I just saw that myself! I am very glad that Mr. Flores is speaking up!

Looks like the citizens of Peru are crying corruption too!

Imagine that, but more so imagine if the Aruban Citizens would have bothered to yell corruption when Natalee first went missing! How different this all could have been if those who had a voice would have raised it! So now they pay the price of their ignorance!

Citizens of Peru Stand Strong! Don’t let the government show favoritism or lienency to the man who murdered one of your daughters!

Cry for Justice in the streets!

      Justice for Natalee and Stephany!

    53. Lisa in Maryland on November 12th, 2010 8:50 am

It looks like they are going to do another psych. eval on Joran but, it also looks like they used the same article as they did before and pasted a final paragraph about Beth’s visit to the end of it as an update.

I wonder if their psych. evals have an expiration date? I also wonder…Could this be a new ploy by his attorney to find him unfit for trial? Every time they do one there is that chance.

Now ask yourself… Why are they treating him so well (like a king) don’t you think that goes beyond any common courtesy they would give to an alleged murderer?

Is someone from the Netherlands working through the Peruvian govt. to protect him?

He deserves no special treatment so why is he getting it?

Something is not right here just like things were not right in Aruba.

CVC – It’s not something we just aren’t understanding – Something is definitely not right with this! I’m starting to smell Aruba all over again!

    54. cvc on November 13th, 2010 3:21 pm

I am so afraid that the Peruvian legal and judicial systems can be bought for the right price. Joran himself said that his father paid policemen in Aruba when Natalee disappeared. I’m really concerned that the van der Sloot family connection with the ugly underbelly of society is going to allow him to walk away again from a murder conviction. At first Stefany’s family was saying that they had faith in the Peruvian legal and judicial systems. Now they are questioning why Joran is “living like a king” in Castro Castro. You are correct Lisa…something is not right AGAIN! I have been so afraid that Beth has gotten word that he is about to be released and that is what prompted her to visit him in Castro Castro. After he got away with murder in Aruba it is no wonder that we are all paranoid about what is going on in Peru.

    55. Lisa in Maryland on November 13th, 2010 4:56 pm

Paranoia (spelling?)only applies when there is no basis! That is not the case here!

I’m reading in the forum that his attorney is trying to get him off with a 6yr. sentence. How little they appreciate life to be able to do that!

I agree with you about his connections, they probably don’t know “how much” he knows through his father and are afraid he will spill the beans. Starting with Van der Statten.

I don’t think Mr. Flores has as much power or pull as they initially gave him credit for and/or he himself as a politician has a few things he may not want out of the closet should he desire to push harder. This is strictly IMO from reading some of the comments from the peruvian article where he said Joran was “living like a king” and in observance of him not making any waves because if it was me and my daughter there wouldn’t be a steel trap strong enough to shut me up!

When they initially arrested Joran I was so sad that he had killed again but so exillirated that he was finally going to pay the price and give Natalee back to her family. Now I am so very disappointed again in the way the events are playing out. I haven’t lost hope but that disappointment just lingers with each new twist.

I will not give up on praying for Justice for Natalee and Peace for the Holloways and Twittys

Does anyone remember about 20 years ago 2 young female Swedish tourists being murdered,I don’t recall Americans making a great deal of trying to find the murderers. Natalees’ case is horrifying, but where is the American pressure to solve this case. I don’t believe that these young ladies behaved during their US stay like these southern beaus and belles did.
