Colorado HS Student Told To Remove US Flags from Truck … Might Make People Feel Uncomfortable

UNCOMFORTABLE? UNBELIEVABLE!

Jeremy Stoppel, a Northglenn High School student in Colorado was told by school security to stop flying the US flags on his truck. He was told to do so because the high school focuses on diversity and she doesn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable. WTF. Maybe some one should tell the moron security guard that the United States flag represents diversity and the greatest melting pot ever known.

So the delusional concept of making others feel uncomfortable trumps the First Amendment and Freedom of Speech? Who is making who feel uncomfortable?

Could some one please tell me what country we live in again and how it can make any one uncomfortable seeing the America flag flying? What’s next, we are not allowed to fly the American flag on Flag Day? Just curious does this high school have an American flag atop their flag pole? What is wrong with people who actually think that the Red, White and Blue flag of the United States of America would make people feel uncomfortable. Those that actually do, might want to think about living some place else.

A high school student in Northglenn is upset that campus security told him to remove the large American flags flying from his pickup truck because it might make others uncomfortable.

Jeremy Stoppel told 7NEWS he got a ticket at Northglenn High School last Thursday for squealing his tires. He said he deserved that ticket and deserved having his parking lot pass suspended for two weeks.

But he’s upset that campus security then told him he can’t fly his 3 feet by 5 feet flags in the bed of his pickup truck anymore.

She said I should take my flags down. She said this is a school that focuses on diversity and she doesn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable,”Stoppel said. “How do you suppose anyone would feel uncomfortable in America with an American flag? That’s where I’m confused.”

He said he started flying his flags around school last week.

“Now that I finally get to drive to school, I have a truck, that’s what I want to do. I want to fly my flags. September 11th is coming up so I wanted to fly them in honor of that,” said Stoppel, who said his cousin is serving in the Navy.Stoppel and his father want an apology from that security supervisor.

Stoppel and his father want an apology from that security supervisor.

According to  7NEWS in Colorado, the high school has no policy of not being able to fly an American flag. In fact to answer the previous question from above, the school has an American flag flying from its flag poll and not one from a communist country.

7NEWS checked and the school has no policy against flying the American flag. In fact, Northglenn High School has a U.S. flag on the flag pole in front of the school.

There is some thing seriously wrong when people think that the American flag makes people feel uncomfortable.

“the high school focuses on diversity and she doesn’t want
anyone to feel uncomfortable” The people that sincerely feel
‘uncomfortable’ are patriotic Americans. Perhaps the school
should focus on our founding father’s contributions to this
great nation rather than on some politically inspired mantra.

my first question is where is this security from?
if she has not realized it we are in the great old U.S.A and the flag we fly here is the American flag I have one in front of my house all year round let someone on my block come and tell me it makes them feel uncomfortable if they don’t like it then they can take the first flight out of here. what the hell is wrong with this security person. to Mr.Stopple keep flying your flag with pride. Remember this “it’s a grand old flag it’s a high fying flag and forever in peace may it wave”

hmmmmmm, now whom might you find in an American school paid for by American tax dollars that would be uncomfortable with the American flag? Michelle Obama finished high school years ago.

It is time for the community to take action to force the school district to remove the security person from employment.

If this security person is so ignorant of what this country stands for and why there are symbols such as our flag, then they need to be made to do community service for a year and learn the lessons of patriotism.

      wtf……

the american flag symoblizes diversity. always has.

America’s own flag should bring pride IMO.

BUT apparently the Mosque in NY is going to make us feel good while Muslims shout death to America over burning a quran? I have seen photos of them stomping on our flag, but that seems just fine to the media.

Is this upside-down, or am I missing something obvious here?

    9. Broke Back Billy on September 7th, 2010 7:48 am

Im sure that the security guard telling the student to remove the flags had more to do with other students’ safety than a lack of patriotism. And frankly, the fact that people automatically assume the guard was of a different ethnicity or country is more embarrassing to OUR country. There are always two sides to the story and people should be smart enough to realize that and look further into the facts before they start running their mouths

i would have installed more flags until they forced me out of school and made me a martyr.
wouldn’t the dopecrats just love that ?

I am sooooo sick of this stupid junk. Fly our flag always and let the dissenters pound sand. God Bless America.

I live ten minutes from Northglenn high and can tell you why they were told not to fly the us flag. It’s because the majority of the students there are Hispanic. The school down the street from me claims to be an English as a second language school and when I complained that my daughter didn’t understand the teacher who spoke only in Spanish, I was told that she needed to learn Spanish before she got into high school or she would be completely lost.
It makes me sad. The people coming to my neighborhood from Mexico aren’t doing so with the intention of sharing our culture, but are instead looking for a place to reinvent theirs. They don’t speak the language and they don’t need to because we’ll learn theirs. They proudly fly their flag on their cars, their clothes and their houses and we can’t fly ours for fear of hurting their feelings!

Maybe those school folks forgot that Colorado is still part of the United States?

    14. Brenda on September 7th, 2010 4:05 pm

      Jessico…bingo.

I grew up in Tampa, FL and the Mexican flag flew just as much if not more in my neighborhood than the American flag. What you say makes sense. Just such a shame those folks forgot where they were when they crossed the boarder….

Everyone in that school and that town should drive through that schools parking lot and fly an American flag off their vehicles ~ place them on their homes ~ etc. I challenge that community to have the schools marching band or the University’s marching band parade through and equip every individual as well with the school’s drill team and flag squad… march straight through town and perform the Stars and Strips ~ Sousa’s Spectacular ~ America the Beautiful ~ and have U.S. Vetrans march right along ~ those who fought and would die for this country…. and all those who’d give respect and honor to those who would and in fact did die for our freedom.

We need to stand up for our rights as American Citizens and enough of this P.C. crap that’s being shoved down our throats.

You don’t like the American flag finding it offensive, leave.

Being a former Drum major ~ drill team squad leader ~ I’ll take the first flight out to Colorado and lead that parade holding Old Glory with deep respect and pride and I’m sure, there’d be thousands following behind.

Matter of fact, get a bigger flag… a 3′ X 5′ is rather small… If this kid was going/trying to make a statement… he’d of wrapped his freakin’ truck with one. ~ matter of fact, I’ve got a gonkin’ BIGGER one he can have if he wants ~ and fly it high!

There’s a lesson here that I believe is, if you take it, they dish it out.

    17. kitty on September 8th, 2010 1:06 am

Jeremy and his Dad consider this…

Inquire within your city area or within your State for an artist who is highly skilled to paint an awesome American Flag scene on your vehicle ~ something that is very tastefully done ~ including something to honor your cousin who’s in the Navy… perhaps you can add an American Eagle, the American Flag… the Navy Seal emblem ~ or a Navy Ship scene…you can still have your “American Flag” on your vehicle and fly Old Glory with respect and honor… there you go. The shop may even let you advertise their establishment and give you the artwork/painting job for free…

Park your vehicle, with American pride and if they ask you to remove your car from the parking lot ~ … argue it’s your American right for freedom of speech.

P.S. When there’s a parade for Vetrans Day or the 4th of July… Christmas… have your vehicle present in the parade pulling a float or escorting an American Veteran… and drive with pride…. respectfully.

FLAG UP FOR 9-11 EVERYBODY !!!!!!!! NEVER GIVE IN TO THE ILLEGALS AND THEIR ENABLERS, THE DEMOCRATS AND LIBERALS. SHUT THEM UP EVERY CHANCE YOU CAN GET AND FLAG THEM TO DEATH.

    19. Its Me on September 8th, 2010 3:15 pm

kitty; If Jeramy and his Dad were to do this the car would vandelized by the hispanics. The news media would not report it and the city fathers would prevent the police from investigating it because it would not be PC. You folks in that town might just as well learn Spanish because they have taken over this country. Its going to get worse. Hire another illegal. Go shop where they hire illegals. Hire another illegal to do your yard work. We have ourselves to blame so quit bitching.

On September 6th, 2010, at 10:02 pm, not surprised at all wrote “the american flag symoblizes diversity. always has.”

Not true. Should be, but isn’t.

For quite a while there, it symbolized right-wing Republicanism. The right proudly wore the flag on lapel pins (the suit-bearing ones who had lapels), arm tattoos (mostly those who didn’t wear suits), the rear windows of their cars, etc., and happily implied that liberals like me weren’t REALLY Americans.

That particular distortions seems to have collapsed over the years, but it IS worth calling to mind.

Even farther right groups have used it to symbolize political Nativism (look it up in your Wikipedia), which would definitely be hostile to a school emphasizing diversity.

It would be interesting to know more about the security person involved, particularly her age and background.

Sm: The American flag symbolizes America. That is why like during the Revolutionary War the flag was marched into battle and if that individual was killed who was carrying the flag, one next to him would drop his gun and carry the flag.

Good grief aren’t you a product of the internet age. If its in Wiki, it must be true. Get real. You do realize that much in wiki is subjective dribble by those who post in it, right?
