Daily Commentary – Friday, June 18th, 2010 – Winston Churchill’s Cigar Censored

  • An iconic photo of the former Prime Minister Winston Churchill and his cigar in a war museum was airbrushed to erase his use of tobacco. How absolutely completely PC ridiculous. As Dana says, “Churchill and the history of WWII and those who fought for freedom need to be remembered, not airbrushed”.

You can fight on the beaches, you can fight in the fields and in the streets, but if you’re Winston Churchill, the one thing you can’t do in Britain these days is chomp on a cigar.

Obama & BP Oil Spill Crisis:RNC Releases New Ad … In Charge or On the Golf Course or Over His Head

The Barack Obama handling of the BP oil spill in the Gulf has been an “Obamination” …

Take a good look why so many Americans on the LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER and FAR LEFT are upset with President Barack Obama and his almost nonchalant attitude toward the greatest environmental disaster in American history. Why did it and does it take so long for this President to act? What we have here is not a failure of Obama to communicate, but a failure of leadership.

More scathing commentary from Hot Air about an out to lunch President that is in way over his head and now looks to the MSM for direction. AsInstapundit asks, “How many rounds did you golf while the oil was leaking, champ?”

The more trenchant RNC attack on The One today comes via Byron York, who spotlights this clever cause-and-effect list of Obama appearing to blindly follow whatever dopey conventional wisdom about the spill has captured the media’s imagination from day to day. It’s too good to excerpt; read it all and wonder no longer where that supposedly spontaneous “whose ass to kick” comment came from.

Where has this hands off President been during this crisis? It is obvious he was not on it since the beginning and if he actually was, how damning a commentary is that? Where has this President been in leadership and accepting help and advice from others outside his lockstep liberal administration? Oh wait, Obama finally lines up some foreign help for the BP oil spill … too bad it is 53 days after the Dutch offered it. Unreal, how is that Presidential Obama “Hopey, Changey” leadership working out for you America? Michelle Malkin sums it up perfectly … STUCK ON STUPID!

Three days after the Gulf oil rig explosion, the Netherlands offered to send in oil skimmers to pump oil off of the surface of the ocean. The Obama Administration turned them down because they were not 100% efficient and small amounts of oil would be pumped back into the Gulf with the excess water. EPA regulations do not allow for residue water to contain any oil. So rather than use equipment that was not 100% efficient the Obama Administration chose to let all of the oil run into the Gulf.
This is not just bad policy, it is criminal.

Can you only imagine the help the Dutch could have provided to the Gulf coast if they were allowed by Obama to start from the outset of this crisis? Barack Obama, a colossal failure to lead.

Florida US Senate 2010: Independent Eh? Democrats Thinking of Backing GOP Judas Charlie Christ

Charlie Crist, the poster child of what is wrong with politicians are their “say anything” motto to stay in power.

So you still think that Florida Governor and FL US Senate candidate Charlie Crist is still an Independent? Think again. Democrats are thinking of backing Crist in the upcoming Florida US Senate race against GOP candidate Marco Rubio because their own candidate is running a distant third.

Establishment Democrats in Florida, for now, are sticking with Rep. Kendrick Meek, who lags far behind in early general election polls against Crist and Republican Marco Rubio. Yet with Greene promising to drop at least $40 million of his fortune on the primary and pulling neck and neck with Meek in one survey, Sunshine State Democrats are beginning to consider the increasingly realistic prospect that their nominee might be a “meltdown mogul” — one who collects erotic art, had Mike Tyson serve as his best man and once hosted “Hollywood Madam” Heidi Fleiss as a house guest.

Faced with such an awkward possibility, many influential Democrats indicated that supporting Crist — who has quickly moved leftward since leaving the GOP — or just remaining quiet would be the better of the unenviable options.

An Independent backed by Democrats, hardly a man of all the people and the “independent” that Crist claims to be. Mark my words, if Crist is backed by Democrats in the upcoming election, he will be beholden to the Democrats. Does that sound independent to anyone?

Far be it from an “independent” opportunist like Crist to take advantage of a crisis. Crist looks to make hay with the recent BP oil spill and the offshore drilling issue. However, even though support for offshore drilling has cooled in Florida since the crisis according to a recent poll, Crist once again looks like the “I was for it, before I was against it” political opportunist that he is.

When it comes to Charlie Crist, the man will say anything to get elected. However, it’s not just Crist that will do anything to stay in power, Democrats are right in line as well for even pondering the support of the so-called Independent man. It’s not about the people, it is about his political career and survival. Isn’t this exactly the kind of politician that American are fed up with in 2010?

Obama Job Approval Numbers tank to 42% in Rasmussen Poll, Enthusiasm Drops Among Dems as Well

Barack Obama polling … the train wreck continues.

President Barack Hussein Obama’s job approval numbers are in free fall. Is it any wonder after Obama’s lackluster and lack of Presidential leadership displayed the other night as The One spoke from the Oval Office? Obama claimed that he was in charge; however, nothing in his speech pointed to any thing of the sort. Obama’s job approval numbers have hit the skids in the Rasmussen Report as The One has a 42% approval, 57% disapproval and a Daily Presidental Tracking Index of -20.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 24% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20 (see trends).

Forty-eight percent (48%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 75% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 12% Strongly Approve and 52% Strongly Disapprove.

Heading into the BP oil speech from the Oval Office, Obama’s numbers were less than stellar when it came to voters opinions on how he had handled the crisis. Can one only imagine how bad his polling will be in the aftermath of his weak, leaderless, pointless, rudderless and lack of Presidential control speech? With comparisons to former President Jimmy “Misery Index” Carter, this is hardly the image that Obama and Democrats were looking for heading into this November’s midterm election.

Amy Bishop Charged First Degree Murder in 1986 Shooting Death of her Brother Seth Bishop

Back to the Future … Amy Bishop, the liberal college professor who gunned down three fellow colleagues at the University of Alabama at Huntsville has been charged with yet another murder.

Amy Bishop has been indicted on first degree murder charges in the 1986 shooting death of her brother Seth Bishop. The shotgun shooting in Braintree, MA was originally thought to be an accident by Norfolk County authorities. All that has now changed and under investigation following Amy Bishop’s shooting rampage this past February in Huntsville, AL.

The slaying of Seth Bishop was declared an accident by Norfolk County authorities at the time. But questions were raised about the investigation after Bishop, a college professor, was charged in February in a shooting rampage at the University of Alabama Huntsville. Three of Bishops’ colleagues were fatally shot and three wounded in that case.

Keating said an indictment warrant has been lodged with Alabama authorities. He indicated that he would give the Alabama triple murder case priority. Asked whether Bishop would ever be tried in Massachusetts for murder, Keating said, “You never know.”

No charges against anyone else are expected from the grand jury.

It was discovered following the triple homicide shooting deaths of three UA Huntsville professors, that Amy Bishop had a past when it came to shooting deaths.

Barack Obama Down to 45% Approval in Rasmussen Poll … PPP: More People Think GWB Did Better Job with Katrina than Obama with Oil Spill

How low can he go?

If Obama’s handing of his first year and a half in office was not bad enough between the economy, unemployment, record budget deficits, no job creation, continued government spending and Obamacare … now he is faced with the image that the American people have that he has no leadership skills with the BP oil spill crisis.

According to the latestRasmusseen poll, President Barack Hussein Obama is at a 45% approval and a 54% disapproval rating. Only 24% of American voters strongly approve of the jobs that  Obama is doing. How is that “Hopey, Changey” thing working out for you America?

Now comes the most damning poll for Obama in some time. For Barack Hussein Obama his entire presidency has been based on the premise that it’s George W. Bush’s fault. Obama has made it a cottage industry to blame Bush for everything while provide no leadership to issues. Enter, the Left leaning PPP poll and a doozy of an analysis and commentary on Barack Obama. Imagine this, according to Public Policy Polling, more Louisiana folks think that GWB did a better job handling Hurricane Katrina than Barack Obama has done with the BP Oil spill. OUCH, THAT’S GOING TO LEAVE A MARK!

LET US REPEAT THAT FOR PEOPLE WHO MIGHT HAVE MISSED IT, MORE PEOPLE THINK GWB DID A BETTER JOB OF HANDLING HURRICANE KATRINA THAN OBAMA HAS WITH THE BP OIL SPILL.

Full polling results HERE.

Our new Louisiana poll has a lot of data points to show how unhappy voters in the state are with Barack Obama’s handling of the oil spill but one perhaps sums it up better than anything else- a majority of voters there think George W. Bush did a better job with Katrina than Obama’s done dealing with the spill.

50% of voters in the state, even including 31% of Democrats, give Bush higher marks on that question compared to 35% who pick Obama.

Overall only 32% of Louisianans approve of how Obama has handled the spill to 62% who disapprove. 34% of those polled say they approved of how Bush dealt with Katrina to 58% who disapproved.

For those polled, Obama’s actions have gone from bad to worse. Not obly has Obama shown a complete inability to lead and grasp the importance and severity of the issue, The One has made matters even worse by putting a moratorium on platform offshore drilling that is causing even further economic devastation to an area already in crisis.

One thing the oil spill has not done is created a spike of opposition to offshore drilling in Louisiana. 77% of voters still support it with only 12% against. Only 31% say the spill has made them less inclined to be in favor of drilling while 42% say it hasn’t made a difference to them and 28% say they’re now stronger in their support.

Maybe Barack Obama can go play a round of golf and think about the BP oil crisis in the Gulf some more. Look for Obama’s avergae job approval polling mumbers ar RCP to go into the red.
