The U.S. will never get their hands on him because he will be lucky to last 1 yr in the Peruvian jail.
Its about time!
Kevin, you are most likely correct. They are going to eat him alive in there. But it would be nice for Natalee’s family to get some type of closure on her case. Either way, he is locked up and I’m sure the Holloway’s will be happy that he is in a Puruvian jail instead of sitting pretty in an American jail. Justice will be served.

Thirty-five years in a Peruvian lockup could be considered justice served for both Natalee and Stephany. Time served in an American prison following his Peruvian sentence could be considered icing on the cake.

I believe in the death penalty they out to fry his butt. Thirty five years isn’t even close to justice. I would hate the thought of him roaming free ever!
The only point I could see in indicting him would be if Peru would hand him over after his sentencing and then the US could bring him to full conviction and send him back to start serving his time. That probably won’t happen.
And Kevin I give him less than a month. Did you see that angry Peruvian mob during his arrest?? And that was the “good” citizens of Peru.
The inmates at Lurigancho are going to be jumping for the opportunity to say ” I killed Joran Van der Sloot”!

There’s no comparing the prisons in Peru to those in Alabama or anywhere else in the United States. Urine van der Slut would be living “a life of luxury” in an Alabama prison compared to the living conditions in a Peruvian prison. Urine needs to stay in Peru to suffer the consequences and to pay dearly for what he did to Stephany Flores Ramirez and Natalee Holloway!! He needs to rot there. I, for one, don’t want him back on Aruban, Dutch, or American soil. I think Natalee is finally getting justice in a way (with that monster finally behind bars), but her family does need closure.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – A federal grand jury has indicted Joran Van der Sloot on charges of wire fraud and extortion.
Prosecutors say he was caught soliciting money from Natalee Holloway’s mother in exchange for revealing the location of Natalee’s remains in Aruba.
Natalee was last seen on May 30, 2005.
Van der Sloot remains the lone suspect in her disappearance.
I’m sure we will soon be hearing another “Anita Dramatization” of how Joran was tramatized by the Natalee Holloway case and the FBI tricked him and they had no right to indict him because it wasn’t his fault!
I would not mind Joran– after being convicted and getting a long sentence in Peru– going to Alabama to face the extortion music and getting a nice 20 years tacked on the end of the Peruvian sentence. Joran would be humiliated to be in a US jail. He thinks he is so superior to Americans.
I wonder why this little pecker thinks it is normal to extort, especially from Beth who has held up tremendously.
This guy has zero moral bound and needs to be removed from society.
I can see it now…”Joran VDS, the Musical” coming to a playhouse near you!!! Casting call for Anita???? Most all the good scary lady actors are gone it seems. The National Enquirer is reporting a set of developments regarding a handwritten map JVDS gave which shows a location in the bird sanctuary. There must be something to this, because didn’t Dave Holloway go to Aruba prepared to search? Best wishes to the Holloway family as they go through even more sadness and turmoil.
And one more thing, hope he never sets foot on American soil. He would be treated too well in our prison systems. He’s looking for that.
Some radio station should have a contest. Guess when joran will die in jail. Whoever guess day and time would get a week in Aruba. 2nd place would get 2 weeks in Aruba. I can’t belive that scumbag wants 1 million for an interview. I hope when he gets in the general population they make him feel the pain of the family of his 2 victims. But hope it it a long drawn out process before they kill him.

You just wonder sometimes how many young girls Joran has killed…when their families notified the Aruban authorities and never had the the money to pursue the investigation……it wouldn’t of mattered anyway Aruba wouldn’t do anything about it….

Glad to see the US has indicted him. That means no matter what happens in Peru, he will find another 20 years tacked on.
And that is exactly how it will go down. He will be tried in Peru and serve his sentence, if any. Then he will be handed over directly to US marshalls and be tried here for the extortion.
Actually Nitz it has not been around a long time. This particular map was drawn after his POS father passed away in a KARMA related death.
Joran drew this one for some TV show or something along those lines. Dave was in Aruba with the map and the authorities will not let him and Tim Miller search that area.
The Dutch and the Peruvians are presently negotiating a treaty for prisoners to do jailtime in their own country.
IF Joran is found guilty in Peru he’ll be transfered to The Netherlands in due time and the Dutch won’t extradite their citizens to the US over a $25.100 fraud.
Best Beth and we can hope for is that she gets her $25.100 back.

Alberto…umm…that’s very wishful thinking that “the monster”, Joran (ran is what he tried to do by the way) will be handed over to Dutch authorities…I don’t think Peruvian authorities will let him go as easily as Aruban police, & government officials did. Scott is correct about the map in question and yes Joran has drawn other maps. Dave and Tim were not allowed to search the bird santuary or Moserat Dam while in Aruba – The Arubans stated they wanted to wait to talk to Joran and get more evidence before digging and they were afraid that searchers would destroy evidence in the process.
More than likely this means they are afraid searchers will find evidence and they just need a little more time to make sure the area is cleared of anything that might implicate them!
Alberto – those negotiations have stalled and I don’t think anyone really wants Joran. Don’t worry he won’t make it out of Peru.

there is no way peru will let joran go to aruba or the netherlands. no way. the world is watching, and i dont think the peru people will go for that, nor will stephany’s parents want that, they want justice, going home is not justice.
The money could help: 1. pay his lawyer 2. buy safety in prison 3. better endear him to mama (should he share).
After what Joran did I doubt if he will be transferred to the Netherlands. He is going to serve his time in Peru where the crime was committed. The Flores family needs to see justice. Joran isn’t going anywhere.

Do not forget that Peru is an equally as corrupt society as Aruba is. It is a banana republic.
There are people that may, for $1 million, allow JVDS to serve his time elsewhere.
JVDS, through his experiences in Aruba and Thailand knows how to work corrupt systems. Do not undersell the fact that he will try to play this card.
If he ends up getting out of Peru, you can count on someone paid some big corruption bucks to get him out of there…..probably the same folks paying all of his legal bills and the Kalpoes legal bills.

The wheels turn slow in these types of treaty negotiaitons. And they will not move any faster because of Sloot. Ten years, I predict before this comes into law. In the meantime, he will try to get more money as this is his CAREER, murder then extortion.
brie #23, don’t be surprised if JVS’s attorney is just being ‘coached’ by some of the higher-ups in Peru. They don’t play around and I’m sure that if the high surpreme judge or President Garcia wanted the attorney to “cooperate” by pretending to defend JVS, he would, or disappear forever. joran’s not going anywhere no matter what strings he thinks he can pull. he’s not in aruba anymore.

Aruba has all the benefits in getting involved and do their part. Summer tourism in aruba is mainly latin from central and south america. Bad news, as not a whole lot of people are looking to go to aruba in the summertime. And now, without a doubt they stand to lose a lot more as their summer tourists are also their trading partners.
We will certainly see a shift of position from aruba soon.
I surely hope that the judge in Peru doesn’t allow Joran to have any interviews. It will be nothing but lies anyway.
I don’t even know why Beth’s mother gave JQ Kelly $15,000 for Joran for information of the location of Natalee’s body. He would never tell the truth because he would be prosecuted.
This guy is evil and full of demons. That day was the day 5 years ago that Natalee disappeared. He brutally murdered Stephanie. And the opening of the Natalee Holloway Resource Center, Joran wants Beth to think that he did those same things to Natalee. No one knows, but Satish said if they find her and they see what you did you’ll get 15 yrs.
So now he’s up to his old tricks, file a complaint against the police, his civil rights were violated, says that they forced him into a confession and he didn’t know what he was signing, then he said he lied, he said they had no right to take his computer, they had every right, he said he killed her because she intruded in his personal life. Stephanie wasn’t on his computer. He had been stalking her, he got in touch with her on the computer and asked her to meet him at the casino. This was premeditated murder. I also think the tennis racket was used in the murder. Joran never leaves his tennis racket behind. Then he steals her money, her bank cards, ID and steals her car and runs away. He is saying he is innocent.

Scott, I know when the map was drawn but the existance of a map is not breaking news like The National Enquirer seems to think. A “long time” with JVDS is until he changes his mind, which is about five days.
