Joran Van der Sloot, “It’s My Own Fault I’m Here” in a Tiny Cell in Castro Castro Prison (VIDEO)

‘It’s my own fault I’m here”states Joran Van der Sloot. No truer words have ever been spoken by the lying Dutch boy. However, for Joran Van der Sloot he is probably referring to being caught, tricked by police and charged with the murder of Stephany Flores … not actually taking responsibility for his crimes.

But, in an interview with a Dutch newspaper, the Dutchman admits, “It’s my own fault I’m here,” in the infamous Miguel Castro Castro Prison in Lima

Watch CBS News Videos Online

Take a good look at Joran’s new home at Castro Castro prison, he will be there for quite a long time. The time for Joran praising himself will soon come to an end as the reality of being convicted of murder will soon set in. Well…not to be a * about it but…

his defence are exploiting a couple of major errors made during the speedy arrest and confession.

      So who knows…

      To mention a couple
No translator and no lawyer present during confession, and apparently Chile delivered him to Peru under a wrong procedure…

I heard as a result they will try to get him under house arrest as well instead of in a prison cell while awaiting trial…

Been trying to see the Anita interview but RTL are really going out of their way protecting it.

Peru’s incarceration of Van der Sloot is just a case of “justice delayed” for what happened in Aruba, too. I have a hundred times the confidence in Peru exacting retribution, than I would ever have in Aruba or the Netherlands. Viva Peru!

    8. meemee on June 23rd, 2010 1:24 pm

just watched anitas interview, im sure she is in pain joran got caught. they need to check her phone records see if she is telling the truth. I believe she actually sat down with beth, and greta and her husband, she never said that they tried to get answers from joran in that interview, i think mama is still covering alot, and maybe she has a bit of guilty feelings, no way do i believe she has cut all ties with this murderer. she is covering her own butt right now. wonder how much money she is gonna make on all her interviews?

    9. Greg the Mongoose on June 23rd, 2010 1:30 pm

Klaasend I watched your link above. I never heard the “Karma comment” made by Anita until today.
What would you expect from a mother? She finally came to her senses and reached the point of truth her son is a murderer.
No mother would want to admit to that FACT! I felt she also knew that Joran was guilty in the Hollaway CASE. Her husband and Joran covered up that murder.
      No accidental death for Natalee.

    10. Miss-Underestimated on June 23rd, 2010 1:32 pm

BoooHooo! Who gives a rats hiney about how you feel Joran? Give Natalee to her family.

When are you bleeding hearts for Joran going to accept your “sporter” is a “Murder”? Oh. I forgot he’s got this bullseye on his back. Tell it to the judge.

I wonder if, you Joran supporters would allow Joran to hook up with your daughters?

    11. Maggie on June 23rd, 2010 1:49 pm

Sorryy, I could not watch much of that interview.

How much money have these people made off of the blood of Natalee Holloway and Stephany Flores? The insanity of all this is unbelievable.

Lost in all of this is Natalee Holloway.. an 18 year old girl who went to Aruba to celebrate her graduation for 3 days with her classmates. She was robbed of her future.. Her family and friends were robbed.. in the worst way..They have tortured and taunted by this family for over 5 years now. Natalee is gone forever.. last seen alive with Deepak Kalpoe, Satish Kalpoe, Joran van der Sloot..

Stephany Flores a 21 year old buisness student with a wonderful future ahead of her. Her friends and family have forever been robbed of her.. She was brutally beaten to death..Stephany is gone forever.. last seen alive with Joran van der Sloot

Anita and Joran have chosen instead to make this about poor Joran, poor Anita..his poor father.

It is my belief if you screw up as parent, nothing else in life matters.. Society is full of creeps who came from dysfunctional homes. If you child has problems, get them help! Graveyards are full of their victims.

These are parents who have enabled their child over and over..to contribute to his bad behaviour

Two statements from GMA February 6, 2006

We tried to raise our kids in a way that they are able to trust people, and I think a lot of trust is gone,” Anita van der Sloot said. ( Is she nuts?) wait don’t answer,, I already know the answer.

“If we would have had any feeling that he was involved in something, Paul would have taken him to the police station and said: ‘Here, hold him, he did something. He deserves his punishment,’” Anita van der Sloot said.

Anita doesn’t even acknowledge her own husband, Joran’s father, took Joran out that night underage to gamble and drink..which put the whole night into play. Joran would never have met Natalee otherwise. Paulus was never held accountable. Joran was given a VIP pass to Carlos n Charlies, which he went to all the time underage. Joran wouldn’t have met Natalee. He told Natalee and her friends he was 19, a soccer player on vacation in Aruba..

Anita can you tell us why Paulus can’t recall or can’t remember over 40 times in his police statements, but was a practicing attorney in Aruba? Can you tell us why he said on Nova, Joran sneaked out again on the second night, after he said in his police statement, you gave him permission to go out to gamble again underage? Can you tell us why Jan Van der Straten said to a Dutch reporter, just 2 days after Natalee was gone..I don’t believe Natalee is alive, I’ve seen the evidence you haven’t?

She claims now she wanted to reach out to Natalee’s family, but the media was protecting her.. In 2008, when she appeared on Peter De Vries show.. this was her and Paulus’s statements. Does this sound like 2 people sympathetic to Beth?

Paul: Well, what stands out is that there has never been a clear profile of the girl. What kind of a girl was she? Who were her contacts? I never saw anywhere something very simple, that the computer of the girl was looked into. I never saw that the family of the girl was investigated. Her friends. Where you really have to start the investigation, is with the people closest to the girl, and really after 10 million dollars, that has not happened.

Anita: I don’t know, I have thought for a long time that she is alive, and there ahve been indications she is. And those facts have to be investigated. Rene Gielen on Curacao is making a documentary, she has interviewed a lot a people, we know because she’s in contact with us. I really would like for the other side of the story to also be investigated.

A few weeks ago she was out partying. Joran’s brother was out partying, while he was sitting in jail for murder charges. Then she states she won’t visit him or anything if he is guilty. What a pathetic mother.

Just thinking aloud is Joe T working behind the scenes?

    12. Mike on June 23rd, 2010 3:27 pm

Who is paying for the high priced lawyer???
Anita on a teacher’s salary??? They must pay a heck of a lot more in Aruba than the USA.

      Hi Maggie,

Don’t forget the most bizarre unsympathetic question of all posed to Beth Holloway.

Has Natalee ever had a seizure?

He’s as guilty as the day is long and we all know it by 200%! May he have many long days rotting in his rat infested cell.

    14. Carpe on June 23rd, 2010 4:06 pm

#12 Who is paying for it?

Why ABC and NBC, of course.

      http://tinyurl.com/3Xg7vk7

ABC and NBC are paying six figures this week for high-profile interviews, according to knowledgeable sources — despite policies that usually forbid it.

An interview with the mother of accused killer Joran van der Sloot that will air today on “Good Morning America” and “Nightline” cost ABC at least $100,000.

    15. Carpe on June 23rd, 2010 4:11 pm

      Oh Spare ME….

In that GMA Exclusive Anita says:

I thought immediately of the parents of the girl, In a way I lost my child too.

How so Anita – He’s still breathing, Stephany is not! It’s always about you and yours.

Then later she states: I don’t think I could have done more.

Lady what planet are you on??? It’s all about you and your family until someone dies than of course it’s not your fault!

No tears here B—ch. No Pitty Party for You! And just wait because the only thing you are right about is KARMA.

By the way someone mentioned the other day that – no way do they believe she was going to have him put away. We’ll she now states it was for his gambling addiction and if they were to find out he is bi-polar then maybe he could get some help.

Play it down again Anita, Joran is more than Bi-Polar. And you don’t just wake up one day at the age of 22 and poof your bi-polar.

    19. Darleen on June 23rd, 2010 4:50 pm

So now he’s confessing that it’s his own fault he’s there; bet he recants that later after he realizes it’s too late for him to try to win friends and influence people.

    20. glad2bAmerican on June 23rd, 2010 5:16 pm

I believe the word is Karma! Joran enjoy what you gave you will get! No daddy to cover your tracks..and because of your gambling HABITS…mama don’t have the funds to waste on you

Joran’s future only consists of becoming a Buttsnortting Girly, Girl. That’s the justice in how he will pay for his lies!

The justice of how he will pay for the innocent lives he has taken will not be paid in Peru but rather in Hell.

HE IS CONFUSED ABOUT HOW A CHIEF OF POLICE IS SUPPOSE TO ACT SINCE THE LAST ONE JUST LET HIM GO AFTER A FEW DAYS WITH A WINK…..read this now…he will surely get 35 years now…right??? There is no chance they will let him go, right??

Joran van der Sloot filed a complaint of misconduct against the chief function of Homicide Dirincri, Miguel Angel Canlla; including the police personnel involved in the investigation against him.

The Netherlands citizen, confessed murderer of Stephany Flores, complained about having been arrested without a warrant for the alleged deprivation of their right to defense and the imposition of an official translator, he says, has guided the confusion.

“All this with the intention of pressuring me to persons accused of homicide investigation,” according to the defendant in a document obtained by the television news program “24 Hours”.

He also said that no constitutional rights have been respected, which has been revised up your laptop and the confidentiality of their communications without a warrant.

    32. Mike on June 23rd, 2010 9:28 pm

so basically he recants his confession trying to get to a trial. he thinks he will get to live in solitary for up to two years waiting for trial during which time his mother and lawyer will have two years to try and bribe his extradition back to aruba. i hope the judge sees through this crap and takes his confession and throws his sorry ass in general population for 35 years.

    33. Sam on June 23rd, 2010 10:22 pm

I heard today that the Peruvian judge in charge said there is NO WAY sloot is leaving Peru before he is tried for murdering Stephany. He was adamant – something like “over my dead body.”

That could mean at least two years.

sloot – you’re only beginning to get what you’ve been dishing out and it ain’t enough yet until you are dead, and may your demise be a long, drawn-out excruciating process.

I’m so pleased when evil scumbags get their just desserts on earth at the hands of mankind.

    34. Jewels on June 23rd, 2010 11:23 pm

Yes the judge said “over my dead body”. Gracias Peru!!!!

I can’t believe that Aruba allowed Joran to even leave Peru after the sting operation with the FBI. Shame on you Aruba!! This dude should have been under your survelience!!

    35. katablog.com on June 23rd, 2010 11:25 pm

Constitutional rights? Where does he think he is? America?

Okay Joran, so they forced you to sign a confession. Now would you please get around to explaining about that dead woman in your room? Include with that explanation about faking going out for coffee and how your shirt ended up around her head.

Go back and think Joran: Daddy said “no corpse, no crime”. Problem here is the dead body of Stephany Flores Ramirez.

And Joran, while you are thinking about that, think about your father’s early death which easily could be due to the stress you put him under when he had to clean up after you and then defend, defend, defend you. Probably had to work a little harder to pay back some favors too.

    36. Johan on June 24th, 2010 4:02 am

Joran still is nothing more than a suspect and even in Peru suspects have -constitutional- rights.

His lawyers and the Dutch embassy will see to it that his rights are respected and that he receives a fair trial like it should be in a civil society.
      __________________
SM: Actually, he is a suspect with a mountain of evidense against him. Constitutional rights? Anyways, he’s going down. For every part of the crime that was concealed and covered up in the death of Natalee Holloway, the same is not tru in the death od Stephany Flores. Joran Van der Sloot is going down.

    37. brie. on June 24th, 2010 8:59 am

Joran is such a liar…why would Pervuian police tell him if he signed the confession they would send him back to the Netherlands….that’s ridiculous, why would they say that, he murdered a Pervuian citizen and they are going to send him to the Netherlands, he’s lying over and over again just like he did in Aruba…and refusing to talk to the judge is only going to make things worse…no one violated his constitutional rights, there was an attorney there also a translator…

So Anita says this is the end of their relationship, she will never go to Peru and there is no further connection between her and Joran….

    38. meemee on June 24th, 2010 9:54 am

Joran still is nothing more than a suspect and even in Peru suspects have -constitutional- rights.

His lawyers and the Dutch embassy will see to it that his rights are respected and that he receives a fair trial like it should be in a civil society.

IMO Wrong – He is a suspect who has confessed to murder in the presence of a representative of the Dutch Embassy and properly appointed Peruvian legal counsel with overwhelming evidence to support the confession or parts there of.

He can recant his confession, he can say it is cohorsed, he can say he lied, he can say he didn’t understand. He can say they didn’t follow procedure. He can even say the Queen herself wants to bare his child. He can’t prove any of that and it doesn’t matter anyway because – He SIGNED THE CONFESSION! (Peru isn’t Aruba – they are not going to tare up the confession and have a do over)

What I see as his biggest problem is – He Ran!

Him running to Chile involves a few things:

      1) There’s no need to run if you are not guilty.
      2) He left the hotel telling them “Don’t disturb my girl she’s sleeping”
      3) The video evidence shows no one else entering or leaving the room.
      4) The video evidence shows the possibility of him attempting to cover the crime by leaving for coffee with the cups in his hand and having the hotel staff open the door for him when the video clearly shows him as closing the door and knocking just minutes before.

These actions implicate a sound mind as far as meaning he knew what he was doing. So I am no longer worried about the possibility of an insanity plea.

Then there is the Forensic Evidence, some of which we have already seen. I am sure after all of it comes out, it will be overwhelmingly sufficient to prove he did it.

Besides in Peru you don’t have to be convicted beyond a shadow of a doubt or by a jury trial of your peers. He will sit before three panel judges and be tried on the preponderance of evidence. How much Pondering do you think the judges will have to do to convict him?

And it just keeps getting better… Now with him not cooperating they are going to lengthen his sentence.

What I wish for is one little crack, just one more mistake that will bring us some evidence of the Natalee Holloway case. So Joran just keep talking! The more you say the closer we may get!

      JUSTICE FOR NATALEE!

    40. Lisa in Maryland on June 24th, 2010 10:24 am

At frist I was so outraged by Jorans lies and Anita’s attempted cover ups but keeping him talking is the best we can hope for.

Hope they make him feel comfortable and keep allowing the interviews and the lies. Peru has him in vice and he’s not getting away.

Let him rattle on and on until he’s so very very tired that he has nothing left to rattle but the truth or informaiton!

I still think they should offer him a deal of
Information on Natalee = sentance served in CASTRO,CASTRO or no information = sentance served at Lurigancho

Either way he’ll probably not make it out alive but he will never make it out of Lurigancho.

I just wonder what would he do if they took the books, shampoo, and his roommate away, I dont see Joran doing well by himself, he has to have a crowd. I dont believe for one minute Peru will let him go.

    43. Sven on June 24th, 2010 5:18 pm

Lisa: your quote: “Has Natalee ever had a seizure?”

The question asked of Natalee’s parents by Aruban police or the prosecutor during the first investigation (forgot which) was and still is the KEY piece of circumstantial evidence to the whole case (if ever brought by Dutch authorities) to the cover-up perpetrated by possibly Paulus, possibly his best best friend, the Chief of Police, and others, including possibly Arubans in positions of authority and perhaps the Kalpoes.

This question has always been the key to the question of whether there might have been and was there a cover-up?

Had that question never been asked by Aruban authorities, flags would never have been raised as to whether someone was trying to have to more than one scenario in place for a defense for Joran.

Joran and Paulus in the beginning were (according to some witnesses) discussing two scenarios – (well after blaming the security guards didn’t work out), it was an accident and/or she had a reaction to a drug she took (on her own) and had a seizure.

Eventually, they decided not to offer up either of these defenses but to say that Joran was never there.

Joran also “confessed” to one person or another that one of the Kapoe bros raped her, and/or killed her and/or one of them or all of them sold her into the white slave trade, and on and on and on.

But, and realistically, the first words are usually the most important to glean something from. Therefore, the “Did she have seizures”.

    44. Sven on June 24th, 2010 5:24 pm

Still trying to figure out whether Anita’s new persona is “made for tv” and just another van der sloot play it up for the cameras or a real try at coming to terms with being the mother of a killer.

Either way, she is still suckling and nurturing him in that the guy who interviewed him for Dutch TV when asked on Nancy Grace’s show last night, said: “Yes, I did deliver 4 shirts and one pair of pants to Joran for Anita”.

    45. Sven on June 24th, 2010 5:37 pm

It might be he said “It’s my own fault” is because the only woman who he trusts and who has supported him, his mom, said “He needs to take responsibility” and she made some other comments on TV about her dis-association with him and etc. I would imagine that quote by him was for her – to get her back to supporting him – thus, as we all heard, she sent him the clothes thru the Dutch TV interviewer.

And, as violent as he may be, if I were his mom, I would be terrified that if he thought I was no longer supporting him, he might just break my neck, too.
