Joran van der Sloot: Melody Granadillo, Ex-girlfriend’s Nickname Should Be “LUCKY”

Tonight on ABC’s 20/20 will be an exclusive interview with Melody Granadillo, Joran’s ex-girlfriend who we call “LUCKY”. “LUCKY” has stayed in contact with Joran since 2005 and is also close to Anita. One wonders if some of the money from this interview with ABC is going towards Anita’s airfare to Peru?

Promo ABC 20/20 to air tonight:

Melody was going to be one of Joran’s character witnesses for the civil case in New York. She has had a lot to say over the last 5 years some of which can be read here.

Now Melody says she has remained friends with Joran even up the murder of Stephany Flores. She admits that Joran is a liar:

This is why we call her LUCKY

In an exclusive email sent to ABC News, Anita van der Sloot wrote:

“I am not giving interviews to any American media station because I don’t trust them. Stay safe and pray for Joran. He is not the monster they like the world to see. he is traumatized, depressed an has an addiction. He is not a murderer. It stinks and feels like a big trap set up for him.”

I have been framed twice your Honor.

I would never kill two girls!

Anita is clearly not only unwilling, but unable at this point to believe the truth. Too much to handle all of it. Kid is a monster (yes Anita…he is), hubby dead of heart-attack (probably related to the prior), her oldest boy now kills again (2nd time we KNOW OF), and she’s still unable to say, YES, he has done some bad things at LEAST??? Not even that. He has an addiction. Really? For killing young girls? Lord, not a good addiction, is it Anita?

    3. Brenda on June 18th, 2010 11:07 am

Oh, and this other girlfriend does resemble Stephany quite a lot, doesn’t she?

I see Granadillo has had her legs open again.

Yes, this is one luck young woman. I’ll bet that she got along with Joran by doing exactly what he wanted. There is plenty of evidence that when told No, he becomes violent.

Sometimes a mother’s love for a child intrudes on the reality that he is a monster. She will never see him as such.

Legal privledge to the point of covering up a likly murder and a disappearance of a young woman has colored Anita’s perception of right and wrong in order to protect her child.

If she goes to Peru, LE needs to give her an in depth interview. Although she was not home when Natalee disappeared, she probably knows exactly what happend. Therefore she is guilty of the crime of obstruction of justice along with about a dozen or more of Aruba’s LE and criminal justice system personnel, that is if the sorry Aruban justice system has such a statue.

I think Anita should spend some time in San Nicolas and earn some extra money for her sporter’s expenses. But at 10 cents a pop well its going to take her a long time now isn’t it!!!!!

      Lock that b. up!

The Van Der Sloots seemed to think “good parenting” meant

But sometimes good parenting requires the courage to confront bad behavior and if ignored, allow your kids to face the consequences!

Sometimes when parents have exhausted every avenue, they need to let their children be trained by the hard lessons of reality –

      if they don’t:

their childrens’ bad habits will fester and may eventually destroy their childrens’ lives!

Anita is in complete denial. That woman needs help. She’s no better than that lying murdering pig she brought into this world. How can she stand to look in the mirror and know that he violently killed not one but two young women, committed extortion and wire fraud and she still supports him saying it is a trap, he didn’t do it. She is just as guilty as he is for her continued support!

Aruba is still trying to cover their tracks. I’ll just bet they don’t want any searches going on until they talk to Joran. I wouldn’t be the lease bit surprised if Aruba put out a hit on him before he fesses up. He’s unstable and they know it and that means he’s a threat to them. How terribly bad it will look when they are exposed!

I feel really sorry for this girl, Melody Granadillo, she seems to be in some wonder lust state of mind of what could have been if Joran wasn’t well who he is, a narcissistic sociopathic murderer with a gambling addiction. He didn’t just turn into that person – he already was that person! She just encountered him in his early developmental stage! It is totally beyond my comprehension as to why she would continue to associate with him.

      The Truth will Prevail!
      Justice for Natalee!
      Boycott Aruba!

They need to take all that white paint and paint little white straight jackets on the entire poputlation of that island! I think they are all smoking crack!

If any one of us wants to get Anita to come to her senses (assuming she has any), pressure can be brought to bear on her by putting the spotlight on her other two sons Valentijn and Sebastian to come forward with what they know about the night Natalee was killed – they were both home that night cuz they had school the next day. They didn’t sleep thru all the craziness – they had to be awake with all the comings and goings of Paul and Joran that night (Anita was out of town). Unbelievably, Valentijn attends Emerson in Boston and Sebastian may be living in Miami (rumored). Both hid out in Colorado(?) during the 2005 investigation. First, why do they continue to have visas? Second, pressure should be brought to bear on them both because if Anita still supports her son after him naming their father as co-conspirator – and she won’t do anything, then they should. They were there that night – they heard what Joran and Paul discussed about the cover-up on the phone and in person. They are culpable and their visas should be rescinded.

    16. Greg the Mongoose on June 18th, 2010 6:29 pm

Anita van der Sloot should stay quiet. The email sent to ABC News, is just blind love. To admit to her sons crimes would bring down a world of guilt, and hurt. Anita will get to that point very soon. Joran Extorting money from the Hollaway family for Natalee’s body location. Is pure EVIL!
Melody Granadillo interview is about money.

    17. Lisa in Maryland on June 18th, 2010 6:46 pm

Anita will never come to her senses. She will go to her grave defending Joran just like Paulus.

You’re right – the brothers should not be welcome in this country for their DNA alone!

This psycho Joran Van der Sloot was showing all the classic signs in 2003. A special thank you (sarcasm intended) to both Paul & Anita Van der Sloot for enabling this monster and setting him loose to kill.

    22. Sam on June 18th, 2010 9:54 pm

Anita’s already screwed up her other two children, too. She sacrificed them for her first born.
One of the other son’s a gang-banger, and the one in a Boston school, well, he’s screwed now because his brother has murdered AGAIN. Even if he was trying to do good, his brother has ruined his life once again. This bro won’t be able to start over. How do you get away from being the sibling of a probable serial killer?

Big bro’s gifts just keep on giving. He’s destroyed his entire family and he doesn’t give a damn. If he goes down, in his mind, everyone goes down because they didn’t stop bad things from happening to him. It’s all their fault for some reason or another.
This criminal will never be sorry for what he did. He will only try to continue to hurt and use people. He doesn’t care about his mother or his brothers. It’s all about him.
I wish I could get my hands around his neck. Useless user. He’s been doing this for a long time, I’m certain.
The only life he values is his own.

What? Rumored the Van der Sloot sons were hiding out in Colo?? What city? One of the cities there used to be a hideout for Al Capone.

    25. A Texas Grandfather on June 18th, 2010 10:10 pm

Well, I forgot about the two younger brothers at home when all this went down regarding Natalee.
If they are indeed in the United States, the FBI needs to go pick them up and question them thoroughly with whatever technique it takes to make them tell the truth.
Dave is in Aruba with a team of searchers with plans to re-search the bird sanctuary, but true to form the Aruban authorities will not let him search for fear of damaging forensic evidence. Give me a break. The Arubans were so ignorant of how to searh in 2005 that Dave had to hold a class to teach them how.
More cover-up. Just keep this up Aruba and you will rue the day you started this. About thirty million Americans are watching what you do and if you don’t do the right thing this time, we will come down on you like you could not imagine. This is not only your little island, but all three of the Dutch islands.

    26. Lisa in Maryland on June 18th, 2010 10:52 pm

That blanket in the bed in Joran’s cell is going to drive him over the edge. Anyone notice it? It’s green and white diagonal strips with large red polka dots.

      In Carpe Style:

Wonder if those red polka dots remind him of skittles or blood splatter?

    29. Sven on June 19th, 2010 5:54 am

Correction to my earlier “what I heard of kids living in US” – True, Valentijn still attends Emerson in Boston, but whoever said (and I re-said, wrongly) that Sebastian was in Miami must have been incorrect, becuz I just heard on TV that Sebastian is only 14 so he must be still in Aruba. Valentijn will graduate in 2012.

So sad that Anita has given up sensible parenting and mothering to her two remaining sons for the sake of Joran and even tho Joran implicated his (and their) dad in the disposal of the body in 3 taped interviews, Anita stands not with her 2 remaining sons but is all for Joran, alone. Those 2 kids have got to be so confused and angered by her standing by Joran and not them or their dad. God what a dysfunctional family!

And again Hopefully, out of anger or because the brothers might want to protect their dad’s name, perhaps the older son, will finally say what exactly went on that night Natalee was killed when he was home.

    30. meemee on June 19th, 2010 9:46 am

the 14 year old should be taken away from anita, its apparent she is unfit to raise him, i shudder that she is a teacher. I also think the brothers should be questioned by F.B.I , since they now have a ongoing case against the Pig in peru, do they have the right to question, not only the boys but also the mother? the girlfriend, i think her interview was all for money. we need to quit paying these people for their 15 minutes on air.

    31. wolfgang on June 19th, 2010 10:06 am

Amomslove..welcome! I think the world is watching this play out in Peru. I personally think it had nothing to do with the date, May 30, but I have heard that psychosis is worse in Spring and Fall…for instant bi-polar might flare up at that time, a manic episode. I really think Joran is just always looking for something and when he finds it, he takes it…this time money which cost the poor girl her life.

WHY is it relevent what some person that was puppy love relationship has to do with his current capacity to allegedly kill… seems like exploiting this for a silly story to me…. Big deal he was nice to a girl at 16, we know what and who he is, NOW,even if his mother does not
SM: Actually Sue, the interview revealed that he was a lying snake back then and the fuse had be lit that he would escalate his sociopathic tendancies in the future. That’s why we called Melody by her real nickname, LUCKY.

Joran van der Sloot should be preparing to meet his maker, says ex-con and prison expert Larry Levine. The founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants believes Stephany Flores’ confessed killer “doesn’t have much time left” in Lima’s notorious Miguel Castro Castro Prison.

Appearing on the CBS Early Show, Levine said if he could give van der Sloot advice it would be, “I’d tell him, ‘you’re not going to make it. What you need to do is pray because someone’s gonna kill ya, and just enjoy the rest of the time you have on earth’.

You know, that’s a dangerous place,” Levine says of Castro Castro Prison. “You’ve got murderers there, terrorists there. You’ve got bad people. And the problem he’s facing is that the father of Stephany is a prominent person and this is an impoverished prison. You pay off the right people, ya know, someone will stick a knife in the guy.”

Levine revealed that even the bookmakers in Las Vegas believe van der Sloot, who is also the only suspect in the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, is a dead man walking.

“Nobody is picking up the action on this,” Levine says. “The show’s over for this kid. He needs to face the facts.”

Joran did horrible things in 2005 and yrs prior to that….she’s lying…maybe just a drug connection..or someone he could always extract money from…or someone looking for media coverage, a list of pictures on the internet of Joran’s previous girlfriend’s and she is not one of them…

I read where the younger Sloots are hiding out in Colorado, anyone know if this is true..they do not want to be questioned….Anita had better get home and take care of her boys, there is nothing she can do for Joran…except give him money for luxuries, which I’m not sure he allowed to have….

And don’t say one word to the reference that this was Bath’s plan….she had nothing to do with this..!!!

    36. Maggie on June 19th, 2010 3:10 pm

Quotable Quotes from the Aruban “Bates” Motel..

A day earlier a high-level police source whispered anonymously, that joran had been treated for lying. Nonsense, asserts Anita firmly. Her son has undergone only counseling to improve his study habits.

Anita: And at that time he started playing poker in the casino, and I don’t want my son being in the casino! So I contacted a youth-psychiatrist. He wasn’t 18 yet, he still was 17. He went there twice, that’s correct, and we had one conclusive-conversation after that. And that was it. So it was really not just about lying. (She got help for his gambling and Paulus took him out gambling underage and let him go again the next night according to Paulus’s police statement. Had a VIP pass to Carlos n Charlies, open line of credit thanks to his father at the casinos.)

Anita excites herself concerning the bad tales that circulate on the island. Joran gambling – and sex-addicted? He is simply a delicious youth! A delicious adolescent, who lives for friends, sport, and family. (Now he is mentally deranged and an addict? What about Beth’s suit in NY that said 3 other women had claimed rape against him? It even talked about giving girls Extasy)

Jorans father, former judge in training Paul van der sloot arrives after a long workday. Tired, he gives a deep sigh: “Joran lies no more than every other adolescent.”( I think Paulus meant to say Joran lies no more than Anita and I.)

Paul wants to show Joran’s room. However., friends, both little girls and boys, could always spend the night he says as he crosses the garden to the outbuilding. Since he was 15 Joran had here, beside the swimming pool and at a reasonable distance of the parental house, his own bedroom and bathroom. Paul opens the door carefully. “Look, here slept four or five during the sleepovers. It was always completely normal.(Sleepovers with little boys and girls at 15 and Natalee went to Aruba to drink and dance 3 days and she was a slut,,go figure!)

June 10, 2005, “I have been drinking since I was 15. I can drink up to 20 or 30 rums or whiskies before I get drunk. When I get drunk I get tired. I don’t get nasty. Deepak on the other hand gets ‘aggressive and nasty’ after 10 whisky-and cokes. Sometimes Deepak wants to fight.”(Think this will help the prosecution in Peru…takes 20 to 30 drinks to get him drunk and he gets tired?)

VAN SUSTEREN: Any drug use or alcohol use by him?

ANITA VAN DER SLOOT: A hundred percent no. No. He is, like, Mom, I would not smoke or I would not use drugs because I am a sporter. I want to make something out of my future. If there would have been anything of that, I would have noticed. I’m a teacher. I work with kids between 12 and 18 years, the last 25 years. So you’re used to so many things, problems that appear with your students. You’re so alert. And I think you’re even more alert with your own children.’ (Last seen with a girl missing 5 years and last seen with a girl beaten and strangled, nice future there, glad you were alert Anita!)

These people are certifiable. No wonder Joran is like he is.

      Can’t forget Nadira’s line..

She described her family as a close and traditional Hindu group and said both sons are “good boys.” SATISH DOES NOT DRINK, she said, and while Deepak drinks occasionally, neither youth takes drugs.(Choir boys! Wasn’t it her that said what kind of girl gets in the car with 3 guys?)(Choir Boys?)

      Satish’s May 31 statement

All three of us walked to the bar and my brother Deepak bought a whisky coke for me and also a drink for himself. Joran also bought an alcoholic drink for himself.

    37. Sven on June 19th, 2010 5:13 pm

Can’t wait for the translation of Monday’s hearing and what went down – especially whatever new fictional story Joran weaves for the judge. Will Mommy dearest be there with body guards, a TV team from the Netherlands, and marijuana brownies hidden in playing cards?

It’s so so funny – his two nicknames in Castro Castro are “Psycho” and “Mommy’s Boy” (or “Mommy’s psycho boy”!) So funny the inmates know “the Psycho killer” calls his Mommy whenever he can – Mommy!! Help me! I’m scared!

    38. NewGirlBoston on June 20th, 2010 1:17 pm

Melody’s nickname is quite fitting. She really should be called LUCKY… 17- Joran was just a lying, cheating, immoral Teenager with severe psychological problems. By 18, less than one year later—Joran is then a Murderer, Rapist & involved in the Sex Trade.

She’s the only one apparently to have escaped the wrath of the Monster.

Hope LUCKY/Melody does something beneficial with the money ABC paid her for the interview. Maybe she can buy some fancy stationary when she writes to Joran in Castro with best wishes and her final goodbyes, jotted lovingly with a new scented ink? Or maybe she can use some of the victims blood $$$ & fork over Mama Sloot a loan for Joran’s legal defense? Or the dream team of Phd’s & Mental Health Experts Mama Sloot will need to finance who will attempt to orchestrate the bogus insanity defense for the delicious little Sporter???

    40. Patricia on June 25th, 2010 8:42 am

I am so sorry to read all this. Okay, Joran must be punished for what he did, but why is everyone so hard on Anita? I saw the interview with her 2 days ago and she was really realistic. And of course a mother love her child no matter what. But if something goes wrong with a kid, the parents are not always to blame. I think Anita is a good mother. Her son is sick, needs help and has to punished for what he did. Not the whole family has to be punished. It is difficult enough for them to live with a son and brother who killed somebody! How would you react if your child did something like this and everyone in the world is blaming you? I am sorry, I have no words for that. You have no right to judge Anita when you don’t know her at all!

    41. jim on July 14th, 2010 11:13 am

Joran’s mother must have psychopath gene too. She knew everything. She knew her husband and son disposed the body

    42. MG on November 26th, 2010 9:40 am

      Well said Patricia!
      Anita is not to blame.
My heart is shattered for Natalee, her family, for Stephany and her family. But Anita is not only grieving for her husband. As a mother it weighs heavy on your heart to see your child troubled like that. Any mother would be heartbroken. You could be the best mom and every kid gets to a point where they will not listen to their parents. How is Anita to blame??

Carpe, you have a mean heart. You don’t talk about an innocent child like that, you just don’t. talk about Melody but don’t ridicule about her child.(your days are numbered???)
SM: So if a parent knows that their child is a danger to others and helps raise an out of control child and enables his “evil” ways, they are not to blame? Really? You might want to rethink that logic. How is Anita and Paulas to blame? Are you joking. Anita knew what her some was like and did nothing meaningful about it.

    43. MG on April 8th, 2011 4:17 pm

How do you know all that SM? have you been in the household? Do you even have a child? If you do you must be kidding yourself to say what you do. Parents try their best always but you know it is never entirely in your hands. especially not an adult child come on. Your mentality will karma it’s way back to you. And maybe Kailey is Joran’s. so what!? What do these people’s personal lives have to do with anything? While you look into another’s backyard they are busy digging into yours. Have a God damn heart!

    44. texasmom on April 12th, 2011 9:33 pm

If it is, she needs to climb out of Anita’s ass long enough to get a good dose of reality.

Maybe she should spend a little time educating herself on just how far Anita has gone over the past almost six years to blame Natalee and her family for her disappearance. How many lies she’s told and promoted through others.

Joran was a seventeen year old spoiled brat that was accustomed to getting and doing anything he wanted (with no limits, and no consequences) when he targeted Natalee Holloway. He should have never been in the casino, with or without his father. He should have never been in Carlos n Charlie’s. But he was. He was not only in those establishments underage, but was well known to frequent them and target tourist girls on their final night in Aruba.

Joran is the product of his enabling parents. He learned to lie from the master…his mother.

Even after Joran has more than likely murdered two beautiful young girls with their whole lives ahead of them…Anita STILL has the audacity to blame the victims.

      (June 2010)

      Anita van der Sloot:

“What I saw of him with his friends going out, were good looking guys and American girls would come to them…and it’s still the same. I mean…these girls are coming here also to party and to have a good time.”

That statement should be given to every American tourist that boards a plane to Aruba.

Natalee wasn’t the first victim of Joran and his friends and what they considered a “good time”. There’s a reason they chose their targets and waited until their final night on the island to strike. That “good time” courtesy of Joran and his pimp friends wasn’t the good time any of those girls were looking for.

      Natalee didn’t survive it.

Anita knows it and the Aruban police knew it too in 2005. I’d be willing to bet that even Melody knows it!

Melody has been a parent a few years now, and thinks she knows so much. I hope she’s learning her parenting skills from somewhere other than at Anita’s knee. Anita is grieving for her husband and heartbroken for her “troubled” son???? Maybe one of these days Melody’s heart will really be shattered enough to look into the eyes of Natalee’s parents, of Stephany’s parents to see what real grief looks like.

Maybe she should take a few minutes to look into her own daughter’s eyes and think about Natalee. Think about Beth and Dave…Natalee’s brother…grandparents…all those that love her… NOT KNOWING for SIX LONG YEARS…where she is???…and what they did to her that prevented them from ever being willing to return her remains to her family????… Then she needs to think about Stephany…violently beaten and then strangled to MAKE SURE she was dead…left in a room with orders to not disturb for days while the killer fled…think about her parents…look into their eyes and see their grief.

Would she feel the same about Anita if Natalee or Stephany had been her sister, her daughter, anyone she loved????

Anita hasn’t lost her son, she’s still doing all she can for him. She hasn’t missed a beat.

Anita believes in karma too… Well she should, her oldest son delivered a mega dose of it to her on the fifth anniversary of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Her mentality begged for it for five long years while Natalee’s family suffered and she covered for him and conspired against them.

But what was Anita’s first inclinations about it? Set up.

I hope Melody will remember that.

And now Kailey may be Joran’s? Really? Or is Melody looking for five more minutes of fame? What an awful way to get it if that’s it! Poor Kailey! Even the suggestion of such, if that truly was Melody posting…as a mother…I find it unthinkable.

      She asks “so what?”

Maybe she’ll figure that out when Kailey’s a teenager, and has lived/is living with the notoriety of “maybe” being the daughter of the monster, the murderer.

Oh and one more thing…Melody really should go to the forum and read Carpe’s posts…the man has a huge heart that breaks for victim’s of crime. Many who have followed Natalee’s case from the beginning are very angry that Natalee has not been returned to her family and her country, and that her family has been refused any justice in Aruba; Carpe expresses it more vividly than the rest of us at times. But that doesn’t change the FACT that he TRULY CARES about the VICTIM(S)…Melody just might learn a thing or two about that.

      Again, JMO
