NBA’s Shaquille O’Neal to Challenge Last Year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion, 14 Year Old Kavya Shivashankar to Spell Off

Oh this should be priceless …

The NBA’s Shaquille O’Neal is going to challenge last years National Spelling Bee Champion, 14 Year Old Kavya Shivashankar to spell off. Sorry, can hardly hold back the laughter on this one.

O’Neal made an impromptu appearance at the hotel where the bee is under way this week. He challenged Shivashankar onstage after the sixth round of semifinals. She accepted his challenge, even allowing him two misspelled words, warning him she beat Jimmy Kimmel in a similar challenge last year.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” she asked O’Neal, the tallest person in the ballroom. “I did win the national spelling bee last year.”

“Keep in mind I have my bachelor’s and master’s, and I’m ready to go,” he said.

Maybe Shaquille O’Neal has a better chance at beating 14 year old Kavya Shivashankar in spelling than he does a free throw shooting competition.

Some highlights from Spelling B’s past and the reason why this is now considered Must “B” TV

14 year old Anamika Veeramani of North Royalton, OH is the winner of the 2010 National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC, on Friday, June 4, 2010.

Shaq is just lucky he does not have to go up against the 1997 Spelling Bee Champion Rebecca Sealfon. Rebecca would own you. I also heard she has a strong move to the rim.  She was one of my all time spelling bee favorites

Who can ever forget … spell Numnah … or numbnut. I bet even Shaq can spell numbnut.
