Another Democrat Alka Seltzer Moment, Conservatives Most Enthusiastic About 2010 Midterm Vote

RUT-ROH Democrats don’t look now but more bad news for the upcoming 2010 midterm elections … Gallup Poll indicated that Conservatives are the most enthusiastic about voting in the 2010 midterms.

Democrats better buy stock in Alka Seltzer this Fall

Registered voters who identify themselves as conservatives are significantly more enthusiastic about voting in this fall’s congressional elections than are liberals or moderates. Those who say they are “very” conservative are the most enthusiastic of all, with substantially higher enthusiasm than those who say they are “very” liberal.

45% of total Conservatives, 62% of very Conservative and only 21% of liberals are very enthusiastic about voting in the upcoming 2010 midterm elections. Is it any wonder that the buzz is that Republicans have a real chance of taking back the House of Representatives and even an outside chance at the US Senate.

Not only do Conservatives have the momentum, but we also need to analyze the the identity (political ideology) of the percentage of voters that are not motivated to vote.

It may be more instructive to look at the “not enthusiastic” numbers.  Among all self-identified conservative voters, only 30% report being unenthusiastic about the midterms.  In comparison, 50% of moderates and 42% of liberals are apathetic.  Considering the wide gaps in identification with these positions, those position differences point to a midterm wipeout for nonconservative candidates.

That helps Republicans, but it goes deeper than that.  The most enthusiastic Democratic voters are those who identify as conservatives (33%), not moderates (20%) or liberal (26%).

So many of the polls are pointing in one direction and that is a Republican tsunami in 2010. Now all the GOP has to do is not screw it up and remember what brought you back from the abyss, and it was not being Republican light.

Daily Commentary – Wednesday, May 19th, 2010 – Eric Holder’s Reading Problem When it Comes to Arizona Immigration Law

  • Apparently knowing a law is no longer a prerequisite to criticizing it. Knowing the law, heck … how about actually reading the law? How difficult could it be for the chief law enforcement officer in the land to actually read 10 pages of law before making an opinion or criticizing it.

So we now live in a society where with the Obamacare bill that politicians did not read the nearly 3000 page bill before voting “yes” on it. As Democrat House Speaker stated, we will just have to pass the bill to see what is in it.

UPDATE I: WAIT IT GETS BETTER, OBAMA MINION JANET NAPOLITANO ALSO HAS NOT READ THE LAW … BUT SAYS SHE WOULD SIGN THIS TYPE OF BILL.

Janet, exactly how much time does it take to read 10 pages in detail?

That is correct, another Obama flunky who has gone out in the public on TV criticizing the AZ immigration law has not read the 10 page law either.

Napolitano discussed the policy under questioning by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., during a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing on the BP oil spill response.

“I have not reviewed it in detail. I certainly know of it,” the former Arizona governor said when asked by McCain whether she had a chance to give the language a close look.

Nevertheless, Napolitano said, “That’s not the kind of law I would have signed.” Napolitan

Honesty, what kind of fools are presently running this country?

Reverand Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama Threw Me Under the Bus

Barack Obama’s “separation of church and State” only when Wright became a liability to The One’s Presidental aspirations.

“I am ‘radioactive,’ Sir. When Obama threw me under the bus, he threw me under the bus literally!” (Rev Wright)

obama_bus_hope_change

President Barack Hussin Obama throw people under the bus, NEVAH! So says former Obama pastor and spiritual adviser Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Pretty amazing that it took Obama 20 years and a Presidential run before The One would throw Wright under the bus. But Obama said that he never in those 20 years heard such hostile and controversial words when he sat in the pews and listened to Wright preach hate. Then again, Obama also said that he would reach across the aisle, his administration would be the most transparent ever and health care would reduce costs … we all know how those words turned out.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama’s controversial former pastor, said in a letter obtained by The Associated Press that he is “toxic” to the Obama administration and that the president “threw me under the bus.”

Going, Going, Gone … Pennsylvania US Senator Arlen Specter Loses to Challenger Joe Sestak in Dem Primary

Democrat, turned Republican turned Democrat turned out  … Incumbent US Pennsylvania Senator Specter purged by Democrats.

Town Hall might have the line of the night with regards to 80 year old, 5 term Senator Specter who believed it was his right to be a Senator for life … “As it turns out, you can’t be a power-hungry, self-absorbed, principle-less opportunist and stay in power”

Or as we like to say, Arlen Specter … NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Arlen, the Tea Party as a final word for you … Nah, nah, nah …

Once again this election season we are witness to an establishment, status quo candidate in Arlen Specter losing to the challenger in a primary. With approximately 84% of precincts reporting, Sestak was ahead 54 percent while Specter received 46% of the vote.

U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak has knocked off five-term U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in the Democratic Senate primary.

“A win for the people, over the establishment, over the status quo, even over Washington D.C.,” Sestak declared as he delivered his victory speech Tuesday night.

Beaming ear-to-ear, Sestak thanked a packed room of supporters at his election night headquarters inside the Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pa.

“Thank you Pennsylvania…this is what democracy is all about,” he said. “I’ll never forget that it was the people of Pennsylvania that made this happen.”

Arlen Specter switched from the Republican party about a year ago after he realized that he could not win the Republican primary. Guess what Arlen, you didn’t do much better in the Democrat one either.

Earlier in the day Specter warned that without him “Democrats may not be able to fend off a tea party takeover.”As Weasel Zippers aptly stated, “You mean people who want to lower taxes, rein in government spending, strong national defense and lower the deficit  are going to take over? Oh the horror!…”

How full of one’s self could Specter actually be? It turned out that Specter should have been less concerned about the Repubicans voting out Utah Senator Bennett or Charlie Crist’s faux-Independent run … Specter should have been more concerned about Democrats purging him. And purge they did.

“What you see happening across the country is that the tea party organization has taken over,” Specter said in an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell.

“We know what happened to [Sen. Bob] Bennett [R-Utah], what happened to [Florida GOP Gov. Charlie] Crist,” Specter said.

“They drove him out of the Republican Party,” Specter said of Crist, now running for the Senate as an independent in Florida.

Here is a newsflash to Specter and all Incumbents, both Democrat and Republican, WE THE PEOPLE are allowed to have a choice as to who we want to represent us and no where is it stated you get to be a politician for life.  Charlie Crist left the GOP no different than you did realizing that he could not win his parties nomination.

Pat Toomay who won his primary with ease.

This sets up a Tap Toomay (R) vs Joe Sestak (D) US Senate battle for Pennsylvania. Polls prior to the primaries had Toomay with a slight edge over Sestak.

UPDATE I: Obama goes 0 – 4 with support for candidates as Specter loses in Dem Primary.

The only thing that I can honestly say I am sadden by is the fact that the Republicans did not get a chance to take Specter out in the general election. Toomay would have most certainly done so.

UPDATE II: Will the MSM report that Specter was PURGED by Democrats? Of course not, Dems simply chose another candidate. Words like PURGED are only used when Republicans decide to go a different direction in representation. The MSM double standard continues.

CT US Senate 2010: Democrat Candidate AG Richard Blumenthal Lied about Military Service in Vietnam … “A Few Misplaced Words”

YET ANOTHER LYING POLITICIAN!

Just when you thought that the Connecticut US Senate race was a done deal for Democrats … along comes the truth about AG Richard Blumenthal’s actual service in Vietnam and the lies he perpetrated … the truth is, there was no service in Vietnam.

Actually candidate Blumenthal what is unforgivable is lying about being in Vietnam when you knowing received and went out of your way to get 5 deferments to make sure you never were sent to Vietnam.

We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”

There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam. He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.

So what does a lying politician do when he is caught in a lie … LIE SOME MORE.

Blumenthal claims he misspoke and dismissed the matter as a matter of a few misplaced words in an effort to diffuse this bomb that exposes him to be nothing more than a typical lying and misleading politician. With the present mood of the political climate, being perceived as less than honest is hardly what one wants to be in the 2010 midterms. How ironic that we have a Democrat scandal plagued candidate in Blumenthal replacing another one in Dodd, who decided to retire because there was no way he could win reelection.

“On a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service and I regret that. And I take full responsibility,” said Blumenthal, a trim, square-jawed figure with the bearing of a military man. “But I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to our country.”

A Few Misplaced Words, eh?

No body impugn his record of service to our country, Richard Blumenthal did that all on his own. He knowing lied, decieved and created the perception that he fought and returned home from Vietnam. No one put those words in his mouth. He tried to create an image of him self that he was some in country military Vietnam veteran, some thing that he was not. When I first herd this story I also thought how did this individual not think that they would not be caught in the lie? Then again Blumenthal has perpetrated the lie for such a long time, he must have thought he was home free.

“On a few occasions I have misspoken about my service, and I regret that and I take full responsibility,” Mr. Blumenthal said at a packed news conference at a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in West Hartford. “But I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to our country.”

Mr. Blumenthal, 64, said he had been unaware of what he called “those misplaced words” when he delivered them. He said that the errors were “totally unintentional” and that he had made them only a few times in hundreds of public appearances.

“Unlike many of my peers,” Mr. Blumenthal said, “I chose to join the military and serve my country. I am proud of my service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.”

One really needs to read the full NY Times article to understand the levels of influence and privilege that Blumenthal used to avoid going to Vietnam and the deferments obtained.

The deferments allowed Mr. Blumenthal to complete his studies at Harvard; pursue a graduate fellowship in England; serve as a special assistant to The Washington Post’s publisher, Katharine Graham; and ultimately take a job in the Nixon White House.

In 1970, with his last deferment in jeopardy, he landed a coveted spot in the Marine Reserve, which virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam. He joined a unit in Washington that conducted drills and other exercises and focused on local projects, like fixing a campground and organizing a Toys for Tots drive.

So how many times and for how many years does one just misspeak? This was not a few misplaced words, it was a pattern of behavior over his political career to make him appear to be something that he was not. What is even more disgusting is the fact that you knew that news papers and media outlets were describing you as a Vietnam vet and you did nothing correct them. Instead you perpetrated the BS.

The New Haven Register on July 20, 2006, described him as “a veteran of the Vietnam War,” and on April 6, 2007, said that the attorney general had “served in the Marines in Vietnam.” On May 26, 2009, The Connecticut Post, a Bridgeport newspaper that is the state’s third-largest daily, described Mr. Blumenthal as “a Vietnam veteran.” The Shelton Weekly reported on May 23, 2008, that Mr. Blumenthal “was met with applause when he spoke about his experience as a Marine sergeant in Vietnam.”

And the idea that he served in Vietnam has become such an accepted part of his public biography that when a national outlet, Slate magazine, produced a profile of Mr. Blumenthal in 2000, it said he had “enlisted in the Marines rather than duck the Vietnam draft.”

It does not appear that Mr. Blumenthal ever sought to correct those mistakes.

Will voters tolerate a lying and dishonest politician in 2010 midterms? Did Blumenthal’s made up bio just make the CT Senate race, a race once again. The next set of polls just might be very telling to see the mood of the CT voters.

One has to ask them self what is up with Democrats and Vietnam? Either they are protesting it, calling soldiers baby killers, making comparisons to any military conflict to it and in this case where a Dem actually served in the military … lying about their service.

Sir, you disgraced yourself because you felt the need to lie about your service. No one would have thought less of you for serving in the Marine reserves during Vietnam. However, all should think less of you now and not trust any thing you say as you perpetrated this fraud on the public that you served in Vietnam.

Shame on you for simply not being able to tell the truth. Why would any state in this day and age want a known liar as a US Senator?

Rand Paul and the Tea Party Win Kentucky GOP Primary Over Trey Grayson

Get ready this Fall midterm for the Tea Party Express!

It’s official … RAND PAUL wins the Republican Kentucky Primary defeating the establishment Republican candidate Secretary of State Trey Grayson. ABC News has projected upstart Rand Paul the victor as well in the Blue Grass state.

Political novice Rand Paul rode support from tea party activists to a rout in Kentucky’s Republican Senate primary Tuesday night, jolting the GOP establishment and providing fresh evidence of voter discontent in a turbulent midterm election season.

Paul had 59 percent of the vote with returns counted from 29 percent of the precincts, compared to 37 percent for Secretary of State Trey Grayson, who was recruited to the race by the state’s dominant Republican, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Kentucky, a predominantly RED state where both GOP candidates were leading in the polls over the Democrat candidate. Say hello to the next Senator from Kentucky … Rand Paul.

The victory by Paul in KY speaks volumes and sets yup the 2010 midterm elections well for the Tea Party movement. It also is a wake up call to all establishment incumbent candidates, a wake up call that Tea Party folks have been vocal about for some time now. Maybe they will now be taken seriously and for what they really are … the voice of the disgruntled American public who plan on having a Revolution this November at the ballot box.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin also supported Paul, while Grayson received endorsements from establishment leaders Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

Palin told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that Paul’s victory is a “wake up call for the country.”

“This is a real time of awakening for America,” she said. “We have an opportunity to not embrace the status quo but to shake things up.”

In his concession speech, Grayson said he will support Paul in the general campaign. “We’ll be standing side by side on Saturday at the unity rally,” Grayson said in reference to an upcoming Republican rally in Frankfort.

UPDATE I: Rand Paul rolls to easy victory.

As it was in the polls leading up to the Republican primary … so went today’s primary for Rand Paul as with With just under 60 percent of precincts reporting, Paul was drawing 59% of the vote to Grayson’s 36%.

“The tea party movement is about saving the country from a mountain of debt that is devouring our country and that I think could lead to chaos,” Paul said grimly, laying into President Barack Obama for his participation in last year’s Copenhagen summit on global warming and accusing Obama of trying to “apologize for the industrial revolution.”

UPDATE I: RANSLIDE!!!

Already tongues are wagging over Paul’s close association to the Tea Parties. Look for the left to go after him hard. Unlike Rubio who is in a three-way race, a win by Paul in the general election will certainly confirm Tea Party strength.

Has the oil reached Key West?

The US Coast guard is reporting that 20 tar balls have been found off of Key West Florida. They are being sent for analysis to determine if they are from the gulf oil spill. Scientists warn that tar balls have long been found in the gulf and there’s no proof yet that these 20 are from the BP spill.

The fear is that the spill will reach the major currents which will take it all the way up the east coast. Possible damage to marine life and beaches and the economy could be horrendous.

Satellite imagery today from NASA’s MODIS instrument confirms that a substantial tongue of oil has moved southeast from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and entered the Gulf of Mexico’s Loop Current. The Loop Current is an ocean current that transports warm Caribbean water through the Yucatan Channel between Cuba and Mexico. The current flows northward into the Gulf of Mexico, then loops southeastward just south of the Florida Keys (where it is called the Florida Current), and then along the west side of the western Bahamas.
